Default Police Deploy New Tactical Weapon

No word on Power Factor or even if it's +P but it sure has knockdown power!

The above took place in Grand Rapids (MI) late last month. The police were pursuing a murder suspect who crashed and bailed then ran down the freeway firing at the LEOs. One officer had enough and put a stop to it. Here's what the miscreant looked like at the hospital:

Looks to me like this officer used his best judgement, training & experience and likely saved lives w/this maneuver. Well done!

That would be "lethal force" and justified.
I ran over a perp who bailed out with a gun in his hand and then ran toward the back of the stolen car he just crashed, which was toward me at the end of a chase. I don't know if he was planning on shooting me but I was not going to wait to find out. Prosecutor's office said A-OK.

The suspect got off lucky right there, what with a dab of road rash.

Good move on the officer's part.

I've always said that the most effective defensive weapons I own are my vehicles.
It's incredible to me how many hoops you have to go through to carry a firearm (depending on venue), but a driver's license can be had with no criminal background check what do ever.

Sad to say that the potential for this officer to be vilified is STRONG.

If it gets the proper exposure on social media, his job is done.

I am not saying it is correct.

I agree with what the officer did. CLEARLY lethal force was justified.

I hope he doesn't lose his job.

Those SUV's should be regulated and controlled to protect the public from such dangerous incidents. Do we really need SUV's? Should SUV's be allowed to have large-capacity fuel tanks or automatic transmissions? The technology exists for cameras and computers that will recognize pedestrians and automatically apply the brakes---shouldn't that be required on all SUV's?
-------------------------------------------------------------

Last radio transmission: "Dispatch, notify the shift commander that I'll be in to get started on the paperwork just as soon as I'm finished at the car wash".

Hard ti tell in the video, but after bailing the car the perp points his arm and it looks like he is pointing a gun (don't know why he would put his arm out like that unless he was holding a gun), if that was the case the officer was completely justified in running him down. Much better that than the perp firing a shot that kills some kid in a car seat.

150,000 foot pounds mechanical energy.
Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do ya?
As long as the brakes are well maintained, there should be no over penetration! No bystanders were harmed.

Best,
Rick

A friend of mine who is a long time hunter hit a deer with his truck in CO. His truck was a Dodge Dakota with a 380ci motor. He got to keep the salvaged meat.

When people asked him what he used to take the deer, he told him that it was a .380 Dakota wildcat round.

In this case, it was a 3.7L Explorer.

No doubt the heart on their sleeves crowd will decry this excessive use of force. Personally, I think it was good work taking the perp without killing him.

Remember the Good Ol' Days when when the statement "He needed killing" was justification to remove contamination from the gene pool?

Improvise, adapt, over-come! So the dirt bag got hit with double-aught truck. The use of force was justified given the circumstances.

Object of the game...no officers were shot or injured. Good stop.

I am surprised the perp wasn't killed or at least paralized with that hit.
It is said it is always best to walk facing traffic so you have time to jump aside.
I would be willing to bet the perp jumps whenever he hears a car coming behind him from now on.

I knew a guy that got shot 5 times due to being mistaken for someone else as he walked into a bar. I think he said he spent 2 or 3 months in the hospital but he did survive. You say bang around him and he was hitting the dirt.

Not a Dodge -- it comes with a warning on how to defeat it right on the hood.

I've always thought a '55 Buick would be ideal.

No, but I'll assume you're being facetious.

The line comes from a Mark Twain story, Puddinhead Wilson.
