Even inland, seals are commonplace. There is at least one in every bar I frequent.

Sometime around 1985 I spent two months in California scuba diving at the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) College in Orange County becoming an Instructor. My diving experience to that point was in the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and freshwater lakes. We were warned about Sea Lions and told not to mess with them and if they came after you to protect your head and neck. I never ran across one or sought them out. They are called Lions not Kittens for a reason.

Googled sea lions, never realized how large they are. TV and the movies don’t really give you a good perspective on size. Any carnivore that big is to be respected!

Watch your mouth, or you may get slapped with an octopus.

Seems a bit fishy to me. None of the squids I've met in my "local" claim to have been seals.

If you compare a grizzly skull to a sea lion skull they basically look the same, supposedly they diverged in the past from a common ancestor.

Sea lions make a lot of trouble, eating endangered species and such. Once, while crabbing from a dock, as I pulled up my ring, a huge sea lion jumped into it. He chowed a crab or 2 and almost pulled me over the rail. Good that the ring was tied off on the rail or it would have been lost.

Many think, at least those my age who watched circus shows as a kid, seals are lovable creatures that balance balls on their nose and play Mary Had a Little Lamb on horns. Sea lions and leopard seals can ruin your whole seaside day. Had the seal in the vid had whipped the guy in the kayak with the octopus instead of across the bow, I doubt anyone would've thought it was funny.

Please let us clarify the "pinniped" in question?
Some are saying Seal, some Sea lion.
What's the difference between seals and sea lions?
