Default Had an interesting dinner tonite....

My wife's younger sister and her boyfriend are visiting from North Carolina. We all had dinner at my wife's older sister's place.

Younger sister's ex-sister-in-law was invited too (her ex's sister). The ex-sister-in-law is a nice woman, early 60s but looks younger. I've known her a long time. Her oldest son passed away a while back in an accident. He was in his late 30s. It was a shock to all of us. Her mom, dad, and ex-husband also passed away recently.

We're all sitting at the table after dinner just talking and catching up on things. Then she says, "I've been seeing a medium and she's really been helping me get through all this". We all sat and listened to stories about her experience with the medium....how the medium knew things that nobody could possibly know, etc. My general feeling was if this was making her feel better....being told that her son was near her, giving her comfort, etc. then so what? Then she let out that the medium charges $400 an hour.

That's more than most lawyers I know. I just kept my mouth shut and got up from the table at an inconspicuous time and let the ladies talk. Just thinking about it afterwards....pretty disgusting how some people will take advantage of a grieving parent.

Default I will tell her.....

....what she needs to hear and I won't charge a dime. Of course my 'reading' wouldn't be nearly as good as the one she's paying now. It's too bad. Now the 'medium' has her hooked and anybody that tries to tell her different is going to shatter her.

I found out my MIL was donating to a LOT of causes that were obviously shams, but she was starting to show signs of Alzheimer's. She also was going to pay somebody five hundred dollars so that she could get money. Having a heart of gold she just thought about how much it would help some of her family members that aren't doing so well.

I did my best to read it 3 different times but got confused about halfway through each time. Sure hope they get it worked out, whatever the problem is.

OK...short version….a "medium" is charging a woman I know $400 an hour for "grief counseling". End of story.

LOL! I made two attempts at sorting out the SIL's, sisters & ex's and decided it really didn't matter to the story. But I'm glad I'm not alone......

That's the only part that's funny though, the rest of it is just sad. These scammer mediums often hire flunkies to sort through printed/social media stories about their victims, to make themselves so believable by what they 'know/see" in the victims lives.

They will reap their just rewards one fine day. That really is disgustingly sad.

I went back and edited it. Also broke it into paragraphs. Was just trying to give a little of the "back story" to set up the scenario. But, yeah, main point is that this "medium" charges $400 an hour. What a scam….

Reminds me of an old TV skit where, after getting paid, the fake medium had people sit in a circle and slowly chant "Owaaaa....... Tajur........ Kyam". They were to keep chanting this phrase slowly while the fake medium crept away and off with all their money.

Promising career alternative I’d not considered! Little overhead, no regulatory oversight, needy clientele.
