Now, I know what you're thinking: it's clean, but just another Chevy, nothing special...
But take a look at the bottom half:
Those are factory stickers still on the frame! And you could eat off it! No rust whatsoever. In Michigan. And it's a 1999. Almost 20 years old. With 90-something thousand on it.
The story is it was bought at auction from the US government who used it as a test vehicle. I'm the third owner. It previously lived indoors on a dyno where air/fuel ratios, emissions and that kind of stuff was tested. The truck has never seen rain or snow. In fact, it's practically new except for the drivetrain miles.
It's a gamble buying something like this as who knows what kind of testing was really done, what they may have modified, etc. but it's so clean and is exactly what I've been looking for configuration-wise (regular cab, V8, automatic, 4x4, Z71), I had to get it. I figure it's worth the gamble at 1/4 the price it would cost to option the same truck new today. It'll be garaged this winter before I start getting into it and figuring out exactly what it is next Spring but for now I'm willing to bet it's the cleanest '99 Silverado w/ 100K on it in the country.
