Been away since the hurricane.
Haven't been on in a while. Our house was pretty well destroyed by Michael in October, and we've finally got everything in place on our other property. We'd planned to move here anyway; Michael just sped things up for us.
We set up a used 37' fifth wheel to live in, so we'll be trailer trash for the time being. Our son is a contractor, and he's going to build us a new house, but he's like everyone, booked solid for a couple of years.
I've been through several hurricanes, but that one was a whopper. I hope I never have to deal with another one like that.

My niece’s in-laws lost two homes at Mexico Beach. They have had to leave as well.

Glad to hear things are settling down for you. Must be very traumatic losing your home. I am sure you will enjoy the new one when finished, good thing is you will know where to get hold of the builder if any problems arise!

It's hard for me, sometimes, to truly understand what others have had to endure not having gone through it myself. Glad you are back.
Prayers for your ongoing and successful recovery.

It's really working out for us very well. We paid the house off with the insurance settlement, and sold it. We've used the equity to get everything in place on the other property, so financially, it was actually a blessing.

Our son-in-law's parents have a house at Mexico Beach. They had just extensively remodeled it when Michael hit. It was damaged, but not destroyed. They are able to repair the damage.
We drove through there a few weeks ago. Seeing all the empty lots where homes and businesses used to be is a shocker.

Same same here on the Texas barrier island. Like artillery “nobody survives a direct hit”. Good to hear you’re making headway. Seems like it takes forever to stuff put back together.

Glad you are back with us, tyusclan.
And yes, He does work in mysterious ways sometimes. I'm glad you were blessed from all of this.
