Did you know there are notorious pistol models?
In the wake of the Hookah Bar shootings in Hanau, I was reading this story about firearms ownership laws in Germany, when this statement surprised me. It hadn't occurred to me that the Glock 17 would be associated with mass murder by some people.
"The media group RND reported that the murder weapon was a Glock 17 9-millimeter Luger, which the shooter legally purchased in an online shop.
The murder weapon is the same model used in the 2016 mass shooting in Munich. The Glock 17 is one of the most notorious pistols, having been used by several mass shooters in the US and by Anders Breivik in Norway."

It's also very popular generally. Hence the correlation.

How sad it must be to live in such fear and ignorance.

I believe many of the German and European police forces issue the Glock 17.
If it’s ‘notorious’, why would the police issue it?

When the Glock came to the attention of the lamestream media back in the 80s, it was instantly characterized as a terrorists weapon that could sneak past airport metal detectors (overlooking that fact thst you could've gotten almost anything past security back then.)
The usual suspects wanted to ban it.
I guess 35 years later, most of our police are terrorists.
It's still an occaisional whipping boy of the usual gun-grabbers. Obama publicly blamed it at least once for inner-city violence.

The article mentioned that particular model keeps showing up in the hands of the continents worst mass murderers. That's what the author meant by notorious, just the usage link.

The Glock 7 is far more notorious than the Glock 17.It is a porcelain gun made in Germany, impervious to X-rays, and costs more than you make in a month!

Where I live “glock” is used by gangbangers for any semi-auto pistol. Like Kleenex is used for any tissue. I guess in that way it’s sorta notorious.

A “Glock” is any pistol that has its sights on the side of the barrel.

Actually, I'm only aware of one pistol that I'd call "notorious" without reservation. The Welrod pistol was designed by the British during WWII as a covert assassination device. That was its one and only purpose. The Nazis hated them with a passion, for sure. They captured some of them and those found a home with Otto Skorzeny's mayhem soldats shortly after the D-Day Normandy invasion.

Their little pink panties ruffle way too easily. Major war, famine and plague come around every so often to thin the herd and put us back in reality. Maybe we are overdue.

I am surprised that they called it a 9mm Luger and not a parabellum.

The piece was written for English-language audiences, by a guy who, going by his name, is a native English speaker.
The Parabellum label tends to be confined to the German-language sphere, and probably a few smaller European languages.

If we had beat our guns into plowsheres way back when, do you have any idea how many blunt force trauma killings there would be.
Now I'm a thinking that you can do a pretty good job of killing a man with a plowshare much. a much better better a job then trying to plow a field with a glock.
I'm paid to think this stuff up.................

With this dumb theory the Colt SAA would be on the list, as so many bad guys used them in the old west.
