Stealing guns from a cop!! These crooks have some big ones. From your description, I would venture to say that the crooks had intimate knowledge
of what you had and your habits.
I'm dismayed that the safe was that easy to defeat.
I sure hope they are caught soon.

Swayback Bridge boat tramp used to be in the deep boonies. Asked a friend about theft and he replied no worries this is Winston County. Asking what that meant he replies they won't call the law for theft, the locals will take care of it themselves.
Never heard of a problem until many years later.....was told to be careful at the ramp they were having thefts. Couple weeks later got an all clear, the good ole boys had caught them. Never heard anyone say what happened to the thieves; I've never heard of another theft since.

Brent, hopefully I can help you with this to prevent future theft.
How did they get into the garage?
What kind of safe was it?
How did they get around the lighting?
How long do you estimate they were there?
Where they able to back a vehicle up to the garage?
Remember, physical security is what I do. First and foremost is a good safe. The locks and alarms I can help with.
PM if necessary.
Sorry buddy. Hope they are caught.

I am like Pmanton, I find it mind boggling the safe was that easy to defeat. I sure hope tho they catch these low life scum balls and throw the proverbial book at them.

I feel for you brother. I had 16 guns stolen from my house in 2007. In 2014, I received a call from a Sheriff’s Department stating that one of my 22 pistols had been recovered in a pawn shop. That Browning Buckmark Bullseye Target was the only one I got back. I HATE thieves!

Like everyone else, I'm sorry for your experience. Been there.
For about 10 years as a Detective I was assigned to Residential Burglaries - I really enjoyed making cases on the lowlifes and locking them up.
It is indeed a very strong feeling of violation knowing that these cretins have been in your home.
Does NZ have a database counterpart to our NCIC for stolen property and guns?
