Default Coronavirus Scam

My son is a tech rep/trainer for a very large surgical equipment manufacturer. He just received this notice from their HQ about an e-mail scam being perpetrated falsely under the letterhead of the World Health Organization (WHO):

"Cybercriminals are attempting to benefit with a new phishing campaign that lures people - rightfully fearful of Coronavirus - into downloading a fake e-book named My-Health. The e-book, that carries an infostealer, is advertised to contain information to protect children and businesses from the virus. The body of the email is visually compelling but does contain clues that it is not legitimate. The typos include incorrectly hyphenating the name as Corona-virus, along with several odd uses of capital letters and some poor grammar. The recipient is expected to download the fake e-book from the attached zip file. However, it only contains GuLoader, which upon being download itself brings in the infostealing trojan FormBook. This infostealer has a wide range of capabilities including swiping content from the Windows clipboard, keylogging, and stealing browser data"

As always, it's never a good idea to download any e-mail attachment if you are not 100% sure of its origin. My son's company sent this notice out as many employees are now working from home (as my son is) and accessing the company information system, and the company is concerned that it could somehow get into their computer network if downloaded by an employee.

It never amazes me how low some people will stoop.

Thanks for the heads up.

I would rather they inject these jerks with something that would get them very very sick and then throw the book at them.

Why not cut their "social distance" down and form them into to one large group and have a corona virus infected person visit them and them make them all stay home?
