Default Projects (Covid related)

Since I've been at home I've:
  • replaced two wall sockets
  • fixed the dryer
  • rebuilt two fishing reels
  • replaced 3 light bulbs (more work than it might seem since they are 12' off the ground)
I may now have to move into upgrades.

How about the rest of you?

I cleaned the outside units of the A/C systems today. Lifted the fans on both and vacuumed out all the debris in the bottom, then rinsed the condensers through to shift the dust out of the fins.

Did some leatherwork, painted a bedroom (honey do), cut grass and did some work at one of my daughter's house.
Actually on vacation this week but can't go anywhere.

Been doing normal cutting of the grass.

Put in 4 bottle brush bushes yesterday to replace the 3 that I foolishly planted a foot over my property line..builder bought the lot next to me.

Moved one irrigation head that my builders foolishly installed a foot over my property line, and added an extra one to water next to my shed. I adjusted the ones around it so they wouldn't spray the shed. Got tired of watering that section with a hose.

Replaced part of the trim around my side garage door that carpenter ants did a job on a few years ago. Got rid of the ants instantly, but put off fixing the door trim.

While painting the door trim, I decided to paint all the trim and the door.

Gonna wash the zillion of bugs off my truck tomorrow, went to my folks place today, and the bugs are unreal around the lake area.

There's always a list of things-to-do around here. Made the mistake of going to the liquor store first and forgot where I put the list.

Replaced the back up battery in one of the smoke detectors. I don't like climbing ladders but the chirping was driving me nuts.

Replaced the battery in the outside control for the garage door. It was so old the Ray-O-Vac black cat turned white.

Pulled together all the loose buttons so I can sew them back on my shirts.

Glued the crossbar on one of the kitchen chairs.

With my new cane, I have been doing my new walking regimen.

Went through some of the boxes and bags in the cabinets and tossed a bunch of stuff that I hadn't used in years.

Sighted in latest .22 target pistol acquisition. My one club's Wednesday night .22 league starts up in May.

But the big thing is my aunt and uncle and I are checking up on each other every day.

My garage has never been cleaner. Everything is put away and after all this I find I now have room for more useless junk.

Covid Project Diary, Week of March 23, 2020.

Monday, Mar. 23
Went to our giant Kroger supermarket at 6am. Figured they might have more stuff in stock at that hour. Figured wrong. Few paper products of any kind. No toilet paper, towels, or napkins. Hardly any meat. No chicken, hamburger, or pork. Three sirloin steaks on display. Bought one for $12. Had one big triumph. Was able to buy two boxes of Kleenex!
!@#$%^&*()_+? hoarders.

Tuesday, Mar. 24
Worked on tax return. Missing one form. Called company. Said they'd be mailed out the next day. Accountant said bring in what you have, will deal with form later. Drove tax stuff across town to accountant. Every street under construction. Major intersection that had just completed a six-month rebuild has been demolished again. Will keep rebuilding until they get it right. Returned home. Missing tax form came in mail. Got here fast! Drove said form back across town to accountant.

Today, Mar. 25
Woke up way early. Considered going to Target's early bird shopping hour for geezers and geezerettes. Too far away. Considered changing light bulb on front porch, but re-read own post above instead. Dull stuff. Made me sleepy. Going back to bed. Will change bulb later.

A few hundred pounds of "stuff", packed away in boxes forever, is now destined for the trash, donation, or recycling bin.
All old food in the pantry, fridge, cabinets and freezer, has been tossed.
All of those accessories that come with power equipment, and you never use, can go on their way too.
Rebuilt one toilet.
Assorted cleaning.
Making a list of things to buy in order to upgrade a few things around here, once the situation lightens up.

I started machining a Coehorn style mortar that will shoot tennis balls. I'll post a picture when it's done.

I’ve been making forms for natural edge and resin cutting boards.
Now I have to wait until I can afford the resin.

I got my top soil and grass seed, just waiting for the weather to cooperate. Since it was raining today I cleaned some guns, then sorted thru all the ammo I bought in the past week. If I get a stretch of good weather I should be able to get my garage painted before life resumes or we descend into a dystopian nightmare. Either way I’ll have a nice looking garage and a better looking yard.

Work has been real slow but I think mostly from all the rain we had here in the last few weeks maybe. Can't get in the construction sites. I got picked for prison jobs where there is a concern for the bug. Before I go in there's a nurse I have to see first and she asks me some medical questions about coughing, fever, etc. That's done and I'm home today trying to figure out what to procrastinate on my long 3 day weekend.
