Talking Great news when we really could some.

According to WRAL TV. Duke University Hospital has just developed a way to sterilize used N-95 masks.

They use a sealed chamber and treat the masks with a hydrogen peroxide mist for four hours. They are able to treat 700 masks at a time. So, they are able to sanitize 4,200 masks daily.

Duke has used the same protocols to successfully sanitize other surgical equipment for some years. I assume that other hospitals can do the same.

I know this is a small step, but it is a start.

Who says America Ain't great?

Almost makes it easy to forget how they sterilized some surgical instruments in hydraulic fluid a few years ago by mistake.

That aside, though, it is good news, Fred -- something we can all use these days. Thanks for sharing!

If I mist myself with h202 for 4 hours, will that do it? At my age, I'd just as soon be sterile.

In 1920 Ford could build a Model T car in 30 seconds so one hundred years later can we not make a hundred thousand little paper masks every 30 seconds?

A Stone Mason remembered where 5,000 N-95 masks were stored:

National Cathedral discovers 5,000 N95 masks that had been stored away in its crypt for 10 years - CBS News

Quote:
The Washington National Cathedral says a stone mason found 5,000 medical masks in a crypt Wednesday after forgetting about the load for more than a decade. The church is now donating them to medical institutions that are in desperate need of them as they battle the coronavirus pandemic.

The National Cathedral, where many American leaders have been eulogized or held prayer services, announced the discovery by its employee in a tweet. The cathedral sent a portion of the masks to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the rest to Children's National Hospital.

"Seek and ye shall find, apparently," the National Cathedral's Twitter account said. Today @WNCathedral sent 3000 N95 masks to @MedStarGUH and 2000 to @ChildrensNatl after a stonemason found a forgotten stash in the Cathedral crypt. Certified by manufacturer as still good."
