Old Leupold Scope Info Wanted
I have a 2x32 Leupold scope and it's about 8" long. I've had it for years, I bought used and it's still like new. I bought it about 10 years ago at a gun show, I don't remember ever using the scope
I'm getting ready to put it on my new 7.5" m-41 and got to wondering about the scope. So long story short the scope is only marked Leupold with nothing else on the scope. Anyone know anything about this scope?

If it were me, I would contact Leupold ....... give them the serial number and I think they should be able to provide info on your scope.

The Leupold 2x pistol scope does not have a 32mm objective lens. The scope model should be marked on the scope barrel near the objective lens. Mine are marked "Mark 8".

Well it is not marked with power or objective size and both the bell's measures 34mm and not marked as any Mark like 4 or 8 which I have owned. Also it appears to be a 4x after a better look at it outside.
It has the gold ring, has Leupold on left side of tower with ser # 276xxxJ and made in USA on the bottom. I guess WOODSLT is right, I need to call Leupold.

Old Navy, out of curiosity, let us know what Leupold says. I find this sort of thing interesting. Good luck.

J is the date code.
I used to to have a date list, but it's easily found on the web.

Are you sure it isn't marked near the front of the objective bell housing? M8-2X? Leupold made rifle scopes, intermediate eye relief scopes and pistol scopes. What's the eye relief like? I assume it has a 1" main tube.
I have some old catalogs and will see if I can find something.

I did a little digging and there aren't a lot of scopes that match that length.
The closest I could find is the M-8 2X EER at 8.1" long.
The regular M-8 2X, M-8 Compact 2.5X and M-8 4X are all 8.45" long, but adjusting the eyepiece would account for some variance.

Scope was made in 1978 for pistol seems their electronic data base doesn't go that far back. As for any other info on the scope they could not tell me anything. But I seem to remember that mid to late 70's was start of hand gun scopes for Leupold.
I have 7.5x50mm AO called Varmint Scope that I bought in summer of 1973 for a custom FN Mauser in 257 Roberts made in 1973 and gun is in the gun safe with the 7.5x scope still mounted.

This scope has never had a set of rings installed (no marks or marring) on it's 1" tube and best guess is it's either 2x or 4x and the optic's are as the day it was new.

The M-8 2X and the M-8 4x are 8.4 inches in length and have 1" tubes. All the rest of the Leupold are longer per Nick Stroebel's I.D. and Price guide.

I guess I could measure the length, but it is a 1" tube.
