Last meal out?
So, am waiting for the varnish to dry on a project and got to thinking about a thread that should be a bit more light hearted than some, so.....What was your last meal out, who with, where, etc.
For me, it was an EPIC, hand-pattied(sp?), greasy grill cheeseburger, fries and a coke with my wife who ordered the same. It was a Sunday morning, March 08th I believe - just before the "stuff" really hit the fan. It was at this cool gunshop and range....Yes, there is a local gun shop - a big one - that also has an indoor range and a grill - great food! That is the last time we had a meal out. You?

I hate eating fast food in the car.
Buying it at the drive through and taking it home to eat is also a no-no: fries get soggy.
So, since taking my son out for Italian the first week of March, I’m cooking at home.

Our last dine-out was with our daughters and all the grandkids at Texas Roadhouse. Good food and lots of laughs.
It's funny about that place, they give the kids peanut grenades and then frown on them using them.

February 19th for dinner, at a Thai place with a friend. Had a Bombay Sapphire martini x 2 as well. Darn tasty.
Lunch was later, surely, though I don’t remember exactly when... Probably early March, I’d guess. Went to our favorite sammich place and had Korean pulled pork and kimchee on ciabatta with some sliced, crispy fried pigs ears and an IPA on the side. Lip smackin’!
Actually, the biggest change to our lifestyle is that we no longer eat out. We are very fortunate, truly blessed, considering the difficulties that many others are facing.

A coupla days ago my wife and I went on a supply run. We were out for a while and decided to stop for supper.
We each ended up having a Quarter Pounder with cheese from Mcdonalds drive through.

I live near Microsoft and we are blessed (?) with probably the best selection of Indian restaurants in the USA. A couple of days before our Governor ordered everything buttoned up my son and I met at one of the aforementioned Indian joints and gorged on their lunchtime buffet. The usually busy place was near empty. But, they were doing a bang up take out business. Writing this is making me hungry. Time to order Indian takeout.

My husband's preference is home cooking, and after almost every restaurant meal he says that I cook better than we just had, so it's not such a treat for him. And as I've gotten older, my digestive system often rebels against restaurant food, so less of a treat for me also.
I guess that leaves our last meal on vacation as our last sit-down meal.
So, Monday September 9th, at our hotel in Paris, the night before our flight home.
Started with a beer, then salmon for the entree, and creme brulee with coffee to finish.

Our 'last supper' was at our favorite local steakhouse 3/4 for daughter #1's birthday, and it was a dandy. Shrimp cocktail, dry-aged filet mignon and a great bottle of zinfandel. Salivating just a bit thinking about it.

Last sit-down meal out was lunch on February 28th at my wife's favorite Greek place just outside Boston. She normally gets occasional takeout there on the way home from work, but we were in the area shopping and it seemed like a good idea at the time. We had our usual Greek salads with chicken.
Our last sit-down dinner out was on December 18th at an upscale Mexican place not far from our house. We had combo chicken and steak fajitas and some damn good Mexican draft beer.

Actually, I remember your post where you explained your user name.
I am stunned that I recalled that considering I can't remember when trash day is.

March 11 we took my son to Olive Garden for his seventeenth birthday. That's where he wanted to go. The place was still fairly busy at that time. People were getting concerned, but there were no local confirmed cases yet.
This afternoon we picked up a family lasagna deal at Bubba's 33. Order online, pull up in the parking lot, and they bring it out to the vehicle. The salad and lasagna were pretty good. The garlic knots only so-so. The price was very reasonable. 19.99 plus tax for four big servings.

Don't remember the date but it was breakfast at Braums, my usual breakfast place. Biscuit, eggs, sausage, gravy and coffee. I went back ina couple of days and the eating area was closed. Got takeout but didn't enjoy it as much.
I wonder if the people that I visited with each morning miss it as much as I do. Those Jimmy Dean biscuit, sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches are a poor substitute but better than cold cereal.
Rest assured I am not complaining, I am good until this is over with. I am blessed with a nice place to live and everything that I need.
My timing was really off today, just as I finished lunch my grandson called and wanted to know if I wanted him to bring me a pizza. Bad deal.

We normally eat out often, however due to the current Pandemic the last time we ate in any restaurant was about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I won't even get take-out! We have a good supply of all kinds of food and household supplies and have been getting along just fine. As a matter of fact we are eating very well and much healthier than normal.
Tomorrow we are grilling a few Porterhouse Steaks for dinner and I hear it's supposed to be really nice out - so I am looking forward to that. The really hard part is we have not seen any friends or relatives in a while - everyone is hunkered down.

Our small college town has a local place that is 24/7. This place is very diner-like with a counter with round-top stools and then tables and booths.
You can sit at the counter and watch the cooks prepare your meal, which is a feature that gives me confidence.
We go so often that it isn't necessary to order our drinks, as the waitresses bring them to us and don't bother bringing a menu since we know it by heart. There are a number of "regulars" that frequent the place and conversations often are as much between tables as at the table.
Breakfast all day and a full menu makes for plenty of choice. My personal guilty pleasure is tator tots, extra crispy. I think the cook drops my order for tots when I am seen walking in the door.
The last meal there was the jalapeno burger and extra crispy tator tots. Hopefully, I will live long enough again to enjoy that version of "manna."
My wife was better disciplined and had taco salad, but I dined with no remorse!

Dang, how far is it to the nearest burger place from your house.
Here in Vegas your arteries are under assault at nearly every corner. It's five minutes to home if the lights are not in your favor.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, wife and I went to Perkins for breakfast mid-morning. Parked right by the front door. On entering, we saw no greeter or wait staff and not a single customer. We were ready to leave when someone came out and seated us. Our favorite waiter served us. At least 3 other tables filled before we left. At 12 Noon that day our governor shut them all down!

Just before the dine-in restaurant lock-down went into effect here in La Tierra del encantamiento I had three chile rellenos stuffed with chicken and cheese, smothered in green chile sauce, with Mexican rice, and pinto beans at Irma's, the best Mexican restaurant in Deming, and maybe all of southern New Mexico. I usually don't drink alcohol, but that evening I washed it all down with a couple of bottles of Estrella Jalisco.
Thank goodness they are still open for carry-out. I need my fix.

Our neighborhood Italian restaurant March 8. We had salmon salad, Caesar salad, linquini alle vongole, bianca, a nice red wine for the wife and a Heineken for me. We enjoyed the view looking out the window, watching the evening's lengthening shadows growing over the sun lit landscape greening up.
It's a family joint, mother, father, son, grandson and the same two waiters for more than a decade. We've been going there, really enjoying it, since they opened 30 years ago.
All they can have now is carryout, got some last week, but it's just not the same. After so long, we're on a first name basis, and I hope they can get through this. We'd miss them if they left.

That brings back memories of walleye filets right out of the lake in Quebec.

Other than lunches at work before our state's "stay at home order" I met some some good friends for breakfast at the Arlington Buzz Inn on 29 February. I had the Kamikaze Skillet which required a couple of days recovery. Burp. Good friends, good conversation, good food. Can't wait to get back to it. It's what life is all about.

Since I got divorced 10 years ago, the only time I eat out at a nice restaurant is when I have out of town guests.
I love me some drive thru Wendy's, KFC, Domino's and Taco Bell thou!
Y'all think it's safe to get food from drive thru's with everything that's going on?
Done a lot of online research on it, and a lot of medical people claim that's all they have time to eat.

Yesterday I went to Iggys for some fried clams, then took a ride to the lighthouse to eat.

LOL!!! Funny you should mention Iggy's. The good wife and I were just talking about Iggy's yesterday (seriously!) and how great it would be if we could drive down and get some fried clams to takeout and eat right on the beach. No coronavirus worries at all unless seagulls are carrying it.
But then we remembered how your governor isn't allowing anyone into the state without RI license plates on their car. Damn! Another great idea thwarted.

The beaches are closed but you can go to the east wall or Rose Nullmans by the lighthouse.

Being without a partner eating out is rare for me as most sit down restaurants do not cater to "Singles". IIRC (?) my last was in February at the local Country Club at a American Legion Lunch

Actually, I didn't mean right on the sandy beach. That was misleading. I meant in the parking area behind the beach if it is open... otherwise I'd probably go around the cove to my old marina.
The good wife and I are really itching to get out of the house. She has just about had it being cooped up with me since Wednesday evening. Hasn't helped that the weather has been miserable.
Damn, some fried clams out would be a treat today!

My wife and I had dinner at a local seafood joint. She had crab legs and I had fried clam strips and a basket of hush puppies (less 1 my wife eat). That was back on February 26th. This COVID-19 has messed up our monthly dinner out plan and it appears we'll be doubling up in future months.

Last sit down breakfast was about a month ago at Pages Okra Grill in Mt Pleasant SC. Ham, eggs and waffles.

About a month ago. An Irish pub/restaurant which has a talented German chef, so a few German items are always on the menu. The best Sauerbraten with red cabbage and potato dumplings to be found. Add a pint of Guinness, and I'm all set.
