It is good to see the states stepping up and helping one another.

California is sending 500 ventilators towards the federal stockpile for distribution by the feds to the most needed areas like New York. California governor said the feds better equipped to direct distribution to most needed areas, like NY, and in a timely fashion.

The expectation is that the ventilators will be returned to the donating states as needed when their critical times arrive.

The company who made my CPAP machine, ResMed, will be making ventilators. I've been using mine for over 2 years. Definitely a first class piece of equipment.
