In keeping with character, my deceased friend had directed that a beer toast be given in his honor after the prayers at the memorial service. The funeral director wheeled in a cart with cups of different craft beers and announced that I was chosen to do the toast, as I had at their wedding 37 years ago. I managed to get it out, with emotion, in front of family and friends scattered at distance, and thought what how typical of him. Now, who will I put on the spot when my turn comes?
