Default New 2020 Corvette

Other than at a dealership or in pictures, has anybody seen one? In all my travels I have yet to spot one out on the highways. What are your thoughts?

Default Have not yet seen one in person...

...but will be ordering a 2021 convertible very soon. Would have been in one by now but strike delayed 2020 production, and no convertibles have yet been delivered to retail customers. Given lengthy delays decided to wait...

Mine will most likely be black unless one of the new colors soon to be announced strikes me. If black, interior will be Adrenaline Red or Natural/black.

It will be Z51 with 3LT trim. Will definitely do Museum Delivery again.

This will be my 7th Corvette...all convertibles. Obviously dig them!

Be safe...be well.

Live in close proximity to the GM Tech Center. Saw two, a silver and an orange one. Aside from being sold out and way above my pay grade, the new one doesn't appeal to me. Till it does, I'll have to muddle thru with my '67.

I have seen one on the road. I have also studied it at the dealer. Keep in mind I don’t like corvettes (at a car show I don’t even look at them) but this new body style is great looking.
I do like up until 67 and the current body along the new but otherwise I wouldn’t have one.
That’s not to bad mouth the car or the owners, it’s just a point of reference to state that the new body looks so good that I do like them.

Saw one just last week, it was on the state route that gets close to my back road. That is the only one I have seen moving and it was easy to spot at a decent distance.

I saw a TR 2020 last week in Raleigh, we were going in opposite directions. My first thought when I saw it coming, exotic, for 1/4 the price.
I have seen dozens of them at Carlisle and a local dealer.

Looking to get a 2021 or 22, Blade Silver or Artic White with a red interior.

Here’s BS.

Well looked at one on the net and although impressive it is a non starter for me. First big design flaw is no cup holders. Most importantly-no place so store my sh...er stuff.

I’ve seen a few on the road and my neighbor works for GM and had one for about a week. They’re gorgeous and quite the machine!

My corvette club got to review them at our sponsor dealer...sat in it, no driving. very impressive. the trunk in front of the driver is nuts..lots of technology in the car. to get a 2020 would be awesome, low delivery numbers .....drive my '71 and just keep lookin' at them

I wouldn't know if I saw one or not, I haven't paid any attention to them in years. Just another toy. I'll keep my $$$ for S&W's.

Default That, keith44spl, is a very rare vehicle!

It is a 2020 Corvette CONVERTIBLE!

It is either a pre-production test vehicle or a ‘Captured Test Fleet’ car sold to the public. Oops...just saw ‘Manufacturer’ on the plate...it is likely a test vehicle.

They are coming soon...

Be safe...be well.

Saw one on I-5 the other day. It wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to get a good look at it.

Nice car. I hope the ride is better than past models. And I learned to avoid first year model redesigns.

I'm still pretty much a traditionalist. This is the first and last Corvette I'll probably ever own. It's a '65 hardtop roadster, 327 4-pot, 4 on the floor. I had more fun driving this car than anything I've owned since.

Those new ones are tempting - but I'd have to have a much larger corona virus relief check than the one I got before I'd purchase one!

Default Say what?

Of course, it’s impractical, expensive, and useless for hauling stuff. THAT IS WHAT MAKES A CORVETTE FUN TO DRIVE!

A Corvette is not and never was a daily driver unless you live in a place where it never snows...and you don’t need it to haul stuff. Rather like a motorcycle is impractical as a daily driver.

I daresay a Corvette is a second or third vehicle for most.

Note: I have two other vehicles that surely CAN make it to wherever you or anyone else lives.

Be safe...be well.

My wife drives a Corvette as her daily driver. I am 6'6" 255lbs and have trouble fitting in her C-7. It has less room than any other Corvette that we have owned. We saw a new one at the Museum and loved it until she looked for where she would put groc.. Something tells me that she'll figure that out.

As I posted in Mike's last Corvette thread; I have happily owned 4 in my life. If I could wave the magic wand, this would appear:

The C8 looks cramped but sitting in both a C7 and C8, in my experience the nod goes to the C8 for room.
I’m 6’4” and 215 currently.

Sat in an orange 2020 coupe at one of Mr. Hendrick's dealerships last September. I was quite impressed, and tempted to put down a deposit, but my concern regarding gremlins in the first model year after a major redesign helped me keep the checkbook safely in my pocket.

Bought my first Vette in 1978 in Cincinnati, and haven't been without one or two at a time since.

Regrettably, if I bite on a 2021 C8, I'll probably sell my '66 convertible to free up garage space.

For the Corvette enthusiast out there read the Car and Driver article Nov. 2007 about driving a Corvette up the Alaska Hwy, The Dempster I believe. They had also done it is Feb of 1976. It's an interesting read.

Criswell is an excellent Corvette dealership. Lots of good people there who are willing to negotiate. Decent amount of inventory at any given time. Kerbeck in Atlantic City is also a very fine Corvette dealership.

If you're really flush you can get scissor doors fitted. I mean, what else do you do with a mid-engined supercar?

You Can Now Get Scissor Doors on the C8 Chevy Corvette, but Why?

Default Plastic Fantastic

Just upgraded my '98 Torch Red base convertible to a '14 Laguna Blue Z51 3LT convertible. Not sure I'll live long enough to afford a C8. 3 Vettes in the garage at the moment, the other is a white '73 T-top. BTW--If you're looking for a real bargain high performance automobile, you owe it to yourself to check out a C5. Pricing is extremely attractive, and they're great cars.

Bought it used from a mechanic for one of the local Chevy dealerships. He and his wife had just had a baby, and they needed something more family friendly. It was a red '73 coupe with a black leather interior. Owned it for about 10 years.

Young guy at work told me once that the C5 was the last "proper" Corvette because after that GM nixed the pop-up headlights. I suggested he discuss that with the folks that own the '58.

Guy at work bought a C5 pretty soon after they came out. The way the big rear tires tramlined on parts on the Vegas concrete freeways was quite something, like a dog shaking a rat. Did the Corvette LS1 suffer the piston slap issue like the 5.3 Vortec of the same family?

"Did the Corvette LS1 suffer the piston slap issue like the 5.3 Vortec of the same family?"

I'm unaware of any serious piston slap issues in LS-1s. Mine has always been a little noisy on cold startup, which disappears when it warms up. There are a ton of them out there running strong way on the far side of 100K. Mine has ~65K on the clock, and I've replaced the water pump and oil pressure sensor. There is a TSB on the drivers side output shaft--had a trusted local shop do that after getting a semi-ridiculous quote from the dealer. That aside, it just keeps on ticking. It has loads of snort and gets fantastic mileage on road trips. There is a significant difference in acceleration between it and the gen 7, but expected given the displacement difference, and the resulting 100+ boost in HP/Torque. Traction control is a wonderful thing.

Yeah, that was the beef I recall reading about. Some folks were pretty upset about it. My 2001 Tahoe with the Vortec derived from the LS1 started rattling at start up at under 40k miles. For that and other reasons I traded it in for one of the first 4.0 Xterras in 2005. I only sold the Xterra this year.

I think he’s the top individual seller in the US.

An interesting article about Mike Furman.
