Default FUN WITH THE MASK

I went up to the drug store to pick up a new prescription. I took along one of the masks my sister made for me to wear for the first time. My sister really put a lot of planning and engineering into this mask (she's a mechanical engineer). It has a lot of pleats in it which I assume increases the surface area for catching respiratory expulsions.

When I stated my date of birth at the prescription counter, I noticed that I was hearing a reverberation in my voice which to my wiseacre mind sounded like Darth Vader. This was too good to pass up. When I was at the front cash register, I told the cashier how the mask made my voice reverberate and then I did the classic Star Wars line, "Luke, I am your father." The cashier was practically rolling on the floor laughing.

James Earl Jones would have been proud of me.

Talk about fun with masks - saw these the other day. I might have to get some.

I'd love to try that. I've been going to the same pharmacy for 40+ years, and the people there are like family.
Would your sister sell me one of those masks?

Unfortunately, my sister was using leftover scrap material, so I don't think there are any more.

Sounds like a regular cottage industry now. My friend's wife has been making them for a while. If you have to wear one may as well have a custom one.

The pleats increase the surface area to make it easier to breath.

Best,
Rick

Figuring this is going to last a while, I bought masks from a company in California that makes lacrosse equipment ordinarily, but is now producing facial coverings.

I was the height of 2020 fashion when I stopped on the way home from work last night to pick up dinner...1980s hair and a facemask...I looked vaguely like the human fly!
