Will you take the vaccination or not ?

If my PCP, Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist, Oncologist and personal nurse advise it I will strongly lean towards it.

To be on the safe side I will also toss some chicken bones and read some tea leaves. Just looking at all options.

I vote no because I've consistently had bad experience with the annual flu shots for geezers. They make me ill for a month after innoculation. Don't know why but I stopped taking them and all is well.

However, if the COVAD 19 vaccine passes all of Rusty's hurdles. I would reconsider.

Haven't been inoculated by the gubermint since 1979; and that was because I was active duty.

I've read that sunlight kills the covid-19 virus and alcohol and nicotine increases a persons resistance to the covid-19 virus.
I just did my own kinda inoculation. I sat in the sun, smoked a cigar, drank beer and smoked a coupla salmon steaks on my grill for supper.

Never had a smallpox shot neither.

I just don't trust the medical field too awful much anyways.

Had a couple of bad experiences with doctors, to the tune of a couple hundred thousand.

Oh, did I say, no thanks.

I'll have to give it serious consideration at some point. I'm too far into the enhanced risk group to ignore it.

Having to take a vaccine shot every darn year just doesn't seem right. I refuse to be a pincushion waiting for Science to get it right.

Not getting vaccinated because you’re worried about side effects is a bit like not carrying a gun because you’re worried that somebody might take it away from you and shoot you with it. It COULD happen, but you’re probably prioritizing the wrong threat.

Of course I’d get vaccinated, even if I weren’t in the high-risk group.

I will, if I and my PCP are both convinced it is safe and effective.
But that's a pretty big IF.
I usually get the flu vaccine, and last year was about the first year since I turned 50 that I didn't get it.
So, of course I got the flu last year - over Memorial Day weekend, and I was sick in bed for at least 4 or 5 days - may have even been a week.

Recently spent 5 weeks of considerable agony surviving COVID 19. I did not think I would make it for the first two weeks and updated my will. Last year I was in the hospital for 5 days with a RARE strain of the flu , which the flu shot, that I took, did not cover. (might have gotten some antibodies that Might have helped).

I now have both antibodies, but no proof that either will give me any immunity. At my age and with my underlying conditions, if there is a vaccine that is developed that looks relatively safe, I will be at the head of the line.

I voted no, but if "Maybe" had been a choice that's what I would have picked.

I've gotten a flu shot once in my life, the year my granddaughter was born. I only got the shot because my daughter requested it. I felt sick for a about a week afterwards.

I got the flu back in 1985 or 1986 and was sick as a dog for about a week. I've had maybe two mild colds since then. I figure I have a pretty strong immune system.

So, if my doctor recommended a covid-19 vaccine, I would consider it, but would think long and hard about it. He asks me every year if I want a flu shot, I always say no.

Not trying to polish up the tin foil hat by any means, but I heard it discussed as a suggestion (keywords to pay attention to in this post) that for travel some areas may require it or having proof of taking the vaccine..............a lot was given up very quickly in terms of freedom and at the end of the day there does not appear to be a coherent argument or sound direction forward. If you want to travel and must show medical records, I am not sure I will travel internationally anymore and just support places in the US. May be a minor deal to some others a larger issue, but it just sort of creeps me out if that comes to pass. If this is the case, then why is it not being done for other medical issues? Where would a hypothetical line be drawn? Time will tell.

Am taking a flu shot every year, and this year a pneumonia shot. Also take immunity suppressants, and am high risk. If the vaccine is not "live" and doctor recommends it , will take it.

I would have to give it serious thought. I have never taken but one flu shot and took the flu from it so therein lies my doubt. I probably would not.

Last time I had the "regular" flu everyone asked me, "Did you get the shot did you get the shot?" I hadn't. Then I found the shot was for a different strain of flu anyway so it wouldn't have mattered and could have made it worse.

With the C19 vaccine, it's kinda like buying the brand new model of a car/truck. I'll wait a few years to work the bugs out.

Probably not, I’d think. I think we are a particularly obstreperous bunch when it comes to the government or anyone else “telling us what to do.”

I think in a large part it has to due with Asian cultures in general stressing the importance, the safety, of the community over individual liberty. In the West, and in particular the United States, I think, individual freedoms usually take precedence.

So Asian countries have more success with their populations complying with social distancing, masks, etc.

Vietnam took early measures which I think many would consider draconian. Japan, on the other hand, in comparison to other Asian countries, was tardy to react, but has done quite well, so far, for reasons people are still trying to figure out.

I think, on Japan, it is due to their culture being extremely susceptible to social pressure — it is ingrained — and the belief that putting one’s own needs first, before others, is simply selfish. So when guidelines are issued for social distancing, people take them seriously without need for formal enforcement.

It’s a very different culture from our own.

Yet, a very admirable one.

To many ill side effects with meds today that hit you a few years after getting the "fix", to the tune of cancer and death. I will take my chances without it.

I would take the vaccine because I tick off most of the boxes in the High Risk category, and I've still got too much living left to do.

Not taking it is definitely a personal choice, but consider that the more who refuse will delay that herd immunity lots of folks like to talk about. Leaving it to the "natural method" doesn't work so the vaccine is the only realistic way to get there.

If you are one of the tinfoil-hat brigade who won't take it because of some sinister "government conspiracy", let me simply point out that EVERY vaccine ever produced was either developed by, sponsored by, and/or approved by our government. Think about it, if vaccines actually caused autism - THERE WOULD BE A VACCINE FOR THAT!

I'm not certain, but I think the compliance rate has to be much higher than 70%. Just look at the recent measles outbreaks as I think there were areas with a higher than 70% compliance and the disease still spread. Of course you could have a high overall compliance rate but still have "pockets" of unvaccinated people so that's a problem as well.

I'll wait and see if people vaccinated turn into Zombies

I am a firefighter and medic. I will probably be required to. And, I’m good with that. Hell, how many of us have been jacked up with god knows what when we deployed to a third world combat zone? Same thing.

If the virus keeps coming back, those that refuse to get vaccinated will become fewer and fewer with each cycle. Sooner or later they will all be gone.....

The coronavirus in its current form has probably only been around since last December. Congratulations on making it six whole months.

I won’t be waiting in line or calling for availability. I’ll wait for the guinea pigs.
