When I was 17 I met my first love. We were crazy about each other. I recall thinking I was lucky to find my life's mate so young. She dumped me with no warning and I never knew why.
It was five years after before I met my wife. I had met many women but none could match up to the first one until I met my wife.
Fifty four years and counting. Lots of bumps on the road but I love her very much.

Getting married....Again
Curt,
I'm a bit late "coming out of the chute", but congratulations to both of you! My best wishes to you for many years of happiness, and companionship together.
I hope that the "honeymoon" never ends.
From one "Old Bean Counter to another"!
Cheers!!
Bill

Congrats to you.
27 years married, 29 years together.
Had our bumps like every other couple.
But it's good.
We were made for each other.
Because frankly, I can't see anyone else putting up with her.
Or anyone else putting up with me.
LOL

Well guys and gals, as Rusty has stated it has been 5 months that I have been married to the best woman that has ever come into my life.
Unfortunately that milestone has been somewhat overshadowed. We got the word a little over 2 weeks ago her father had come down with the virus. He had been on a vent and as of Friday morning at 10:30 all looked well. About an hour later he went on full code. We made a mad dash to Dallas but he passed before we got half way there.
The better half is holding well as can be expected and we are getting through. I just showed her this thread again and all of the wondeful well wishes from you all and it has helped.
Thank all of you again

If I ever got divorced, even once, I don't think I'd get married again. But, I wish you the best!
Edit...just read your last post. Sorry for the loss of your father-in-law.

I had a LEO partner one time that married the same woman 3 times. I asked him why and he replied" she can't cook, clean house, wash clothes or any other household chores but the one thing she does really, really well makes up for all that other stuff.

Good luck 29. This sounds like a good one. All the weddings I now attend are for my grandkids, wish my wife was alive to see it.

Quite a few parallels between you and I 29. My wife and I were also married on 8/22/20 (my 3rd, her 2nd). My mom got very sick the last week of December and on January 1st she was diagnosed with Covid. We lost her on January 8th. At the same time as she was getting sick my wife's parents both came down with Covid. Mother in law pulled through the Covid just fine, but her dementia really ramped up. Father in law was touch and go, but he is going to make it now.
The big challenge now is transitioning mother in law back home this week. She had to go into a rehab facility for her dementia and to allow father in law enough time to get some strength back. She comes home on Wednesday and on Thursday my wife and I will be inbound to Phoenix to help with the transition and get a lay of the land for what future services might be needed for her.
My condolences to you and your family for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope the family is doing ok.
Congratulations on the marriage.
Reading through the thread reminded me of a lady that used to work for us. She was on her fourth husband.
And she couldn't understand why none of her ex-husbands had ever remarried.

First and foremost make sure you are getting married for the right reasons. We became (and we both insisted on it) that we made sure we were friends before anything else. We concentrated on ensuring we were compatible in every day normal things and did not play the lonely hearts club card. It has been over a year now and the friendship just keeps getting better. We communicate constantly about everything and it's working famously.

I have been Married 5 times. I figured it out and got it right the third time. We had over 25 great years before she passed. Found # 4 a few years later and we had a bit over 2 years before she too passed. Number 5 and I are doing fine.

EXCELLENT!
One thing I remember from the pre-mariltal counseling we went through.
"It is less about FINDING the right person and more about BEING the right person."
Its worked for 35 years so far.

This past January was 52 for us. I started dating her in the 8th grade. We both say that we wouldn't trade us for anything but don't want another one. She doesn't shoot but when I am wandering around the house bored she will say why don't you go to the range. Great woman. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Just celebrated 56 years with my love. There's a good chance the marriage will work - contrary to what other people thought.

I had a client come in the other day. He explained how he was able to stay married 50 years. He told me "My wife told me when we got married she would never be a divorcee, but she didn't have a problem being a widow"

My wife and I got married on my 49th birthday in 2006. (Makes it easy to remember our anniversary. ) We've known each other for 30+ years and were together for about 6 before marrying. Nobody has ever accused me of being impulsive.
I tell people I'm still on my first wife. She tells them she's on her last husband (twice divorced). I never wanted to be a father but being a grandparent is great. She's happy that I don't have any "baggage". We are a good fit.

Some of you have met her in person at Tulsa when I introduced her as the best woman I've ever met next to my mother and grandmother. She takes way better care of me than I probably deserve.
