You brought them into this world...
I hope all of you can honestly say that none of your children are part of the violence and looting that we see across this great Country.

The so-called "Greatest Generation" raised the "Flower Power" generation, which raised this current generation of angry ingrates. That is a head scratcher.

Apparently every book that Dr.Spock (RIP) wrote served better as a booster seat at the dinner table than a parenting guide.

If the son I brought into this world acted like that I'd take him back out! (saw him an hour or so ago, he was heading home to unload his truck & get ready for work tomorrow).

No the definitely are not.
We may have our differences about how to live and what precautions to take right now, my kids aren't even the type to do any of the rioting B.S.

the rioting isn't the problem.
it's the partying which they think is fine since
they personally won't die.
i've given up.

Yep, you brought them into this world. Then, if you are like most Americans, at about age 5, you turned them over to a public education system that is all about agenda, and less and less about facts, or actual education. Drum anything into a kids head often enough, and they will believe it.

It cost about $125,000, to send my 4 kids to private/Christian school K-12! I could not afford any college for them. Of the four kids and their spouses they have...
Trade Certifications (equal to Associate degree):1
Associate's Degree:1
Bachelor's Degree:3
Master's Degree:1
PhD:1
Full time Mom of Triplet Boys:1(quit college 2 years in a full scholarship)
My kids learned to think for themselves for that 125 grand, and married people who can think. As the 8 grandkids grow we will see how well they can think!

Actually, the Flower Power generation raised Gen X (the age 45-55 crowd of which I am a member). It is probably Generation X who raised the kids you now see out on the street. I don't have any children, but nonetheless I am embarrassed to admit that it was my peers who created these Millennial monsters.

A contributing factor is the amount & and quality of information that is available to kids these days.
We performed our research at the library ( ya know , that place where they have books..) , today they have Google , Wiki , SnapChat, Instagram , multi-group gaming systems ect... Mostly garbage.........mid numbing **** that stifles creativity , productivity & thinking for yourself.
Yes , all of the above sounds as though its coming from my 93 yr old , WWII vet father , it does....I am proud of he has taught me...

All these open demonstrations against
authority in this country began with
the Whiskey Rebellion.
Poor old George W. had to resort to calling
out the troops.
And ever since, various generations have had
wild times in the streets with the end of
the republic just around the corner.

Those no-good rebels up in Boston had no respect for authority or personal property when they held the Boston Tea Party. Undoubtedly the result of poor parenting.
At least most of the protesters in the OP's photo are consientsious enough to be wearing masks during a pandemic. I wish there were more like them shopping in my local supermarket.

I wonder, are the masks for Covid or Concealment?
It is very convenient because I find it difficult to believe that they care about anyone’s well being but their own.
OMG I have become my father! ( and proud of it)

My son who is 28 goes to work every day and feels the same way about those idiots that I do.
Our so called educational system is a large part of the problem but good parents can offset that a lot.

I can, and I'm quite pleased - and relieved - about it. Fortunately, our attempts at teaching right from wrong must have sunk in.

We had three protests, the organizers met with city government and law enforcement, and reached an understanding about needed change. No damage, no injuries, a few arrests.
No mask mandates in our county, and 81 Covid deaths in our Greenville SC county so far.
Around here, the problem is us, not the protesters.

the riots at least have a cause.
they could be stopped with increased civilian oversight of
police killings.
the huge parties show a callus disregard of the needs of the nation.

Thanks to my wife, my two daughters grew up to be fine women. Between them we have five grandsons, all doing fine. I can remember years ago when the kids were smaller. Daughters were tough as drill instructors with them, same as my wife was with them. Wife would get upset if I got soft with them. Hey, they're my daughters!

I clearly (and fondly) remember growing up and all my Mom had to do was "give me the look" and I straightened right up.
Fear was an amazing motivator. I'm afraid that none of today's "kids" understand fear .... But one day they will.

The ones that bother me are the ones that take to the streets with their AR15s to protest for their god-given Constitutional right not to wear face masks. I guess it’s part of what makes this a great country*, but it astonishes me that people that stupid are allowed to go about carrying firearms.
At least the ones who object to being lynched by policemen have a legitimate beef.

Violence along with looting and tearing down statues is never a good way to make a point. It just shows that some of us never grew out of those supermarket tantrums.

I passed on parenthood, a combination of no desire combined with a complete lack of talent. In the 1950s it was the "Beat Generation", the "Silent Generation ", the 1960s the "Flower Children ", the "Hippies"-and where did all the young men who volunteered for military service come from? The modern conservative movement came out of the 1960s.
If a pretty girl who's onicely dressed walks down Main Street on a sunny day, she'll get some approving nods and winks, if she walks down the street in a bikini or dressed like a go-go dancer...
You think every member of "The Greatest Generation" was a paradigm of patriotism and virtue ? My old man was a WWII vet-he walked on me when I was 6.

As pointed out from others, each generation thinks the new generation is
going to, "hell in a handbasket". Somehow they mature enough to make
it through. I'm sure some of today's protesters will also metamorphize
into respected adults in the future.

A pastor of mine used to say "too many of them got Spock-ed instead of spanked"

While we sent ours to public schools we didn't just "turn them over". We also monitored what they were learning and taught them the difference between the school's indoctrination and the truth.
Fortunately their high school years have been spent in a pretty conservative school system in a pretty conservative town. At least more so than most public school systems I read about elsewhere.

Our so called educational system is a large part of the problem but good parents can offset that a lot.

Yup, my 21 year old is the same. All I can say is we did our best and most of it seems to have stuck.

Again, protests over civil rights
or economic plights have been
a regular part of the history
of the U.S.
Were members of Coxey's Army
in the 1890s or the Bonus Army
in the 1930s all products of bad
upbringing and bad public schools?

True, I was mostly referring to the ones in the OP's picture.

A lot of them, but not all.
My dad was born at the end of the depression - in 1939 - just two years before we got into WWII. So his parents were members of The Greatest Generation, but he wasn't a Boomer. Not sure what they called his generation.
I was born in 1962 - one of the last of the Boomers. But my boys were born in 1999 and 2003, so they are both Gen Z.
Millenials are those born in the early 1980's to mid 1990's - the 25-35/40 year olds.
I'm not so sure that the Millenials description fits most of the protesters. I think there are more than likely a lot more Gen Z (under 25) in that crowd than there are Millenials.

Yes, as one teacher put it, "Children should be sent to school to be educated, not raised."
Remember of course that probably the majority of the young today are growing up fatherless.

Out of our 4 kids only one has a 4 year college degree. They all do well for themselves but out of all 4, the one with "higher education" is the only one who seems to sympathize with current situations. I'm convinced if it wasn't for his upbringing he'd probably be a total liberal loon. His mother and I could see the changes in him every summer when he came home. We do have "spirited" conversations now but, for the most part, he has stuck to what he was taught when young...

My great grandson will be 24 in November. He is very conservative, has a good job, goes to school at night and on-line, is a multi-gun owner, has his CCP and his idea of what to do to the rioters would break a bunch of laws.
I guess being around three like minds just rubs off on a person.

I believe my wife and I did well with our two!, and I’m just as proud of my SIL and DIL. All have college behind them.
They all have good jobs, my daughter and her husband are raising one fantastic granddaughter and my son and his wife have two fantastic little twin grandsons.
All of them know which end is up! I couldn’t be prouder!
Sort of feel sorry for the son and the twin boys, but they’re a riot though!
I told him those that deserve get!

So, you see that with "higher education"
he's also been exposed to a wider horizon
of knowledge and not limited as your other
children.
I believe that is what you are saying but don't
know it.

Perspective
Socrates about 350 BC:“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”
