GUN SHOW (COVID-19)
Gentlemen , as most of the regulars here know i went to the gunshow in Pasadena 2 weekends in a row (13-14)(20-21) . on my last day off, yesterday , the boss man calls me and tells me the fellow i rotate with at work and the friend that went to the second show , both are same , tested positive for the kung flue . So today before reporting to work i have to go to the occupational medicine facility to be tested . i was a bit concerned but the results were negative so here i am at work . the test was similar to testing blood suger , finger stick , drop of blood sucked in by test strip . results in 10 minutes, IgM negative and IgG negative , whatever that means. not sure about the test but " they " seem to be . kenny, kung flue negative .

I wouldn’t put a great deal of stock in that test.

That's what they said at my pre-surgical screening. They said the double dipper nasal swab test was the only thing they would accept. Ugh!

i have heard both yea and nay . did some online search but the medical lingo seemed difficult to sift through to say the least . others at work who have had contact with my friend/coworker have been asked to 14 day quarantine . there are only 4 lab techs . 1 out puts 3 working 24/7 . 2 out shuts the shop down . i don't, and haven't for quite some time, trust our employer as they will do about anything to keep their steel mill running . i don't know where to go from here . SUGGESTIONS welcomed . thanks , kenny

For two weeks, avoid breathing on anyone, and make daily temperature and oximeter checks.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I'd use heavy bullets in that 4" 29 (if that's what it is) on virus particles. The 6" 14 (?) might not have enough knock down power.

OK, You asked.
The test you had performed is to see if your body is producing antibodies to the virus. This can start in as little as 5 days and take as long as 14+ days from exposure to the virus. This varies from individual to individual.
The current “fingertick” tests are at best, questionable, and at worst, worthless.
Your employer can do what he wants, as far as your job. It’s up to do you determine what you do as far as your personal health.

Effectively as shown in more than one recent report from the FDA and CDC, and following up with further testing/QA/QC at the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD the tests are not definitive as they are currently run. In conjunction with a group at Fort Detrick in MD, there is a full scale assessment of how good those strip tests are and from recent reports, NOT too good as mentioned above. Part of the problem is that the reproducibility is debatable and the numbers of both false positives and false negatives are such that depending on them is a little like "practicing the rhythm method" without being able to read or count!! As mentioned above by BWZ, the only reliable and reproducible assays are those that measure the level of virus using PCR. I did spend 24 years at Fort Detrick with the NIH so I know a little about the labs and abilities there. Dave_n
