Your Motorcycle - Show & Tell
Greetings Boys & Girls,
Do you ride a motorcycles? If so, let's see some pics and let us know what you've done to it.
Here's mine, a 2018 Triumph Bobber Black. Although I've made so many changes it's more of a hybrid.
Fitted a (Triumph) Speedmaster tank, headlight & windshield.
Custom vintage style, retro seat with springs.
Belt-drive conversion.
Solid billet wheels.
Loads of (black) powder-coating.
Etc. etc. etc.
Let's see your wonderful rides?
Cheerio,
Roy

Just got back into riding last year after fairly long hiatus. Really wanted the BB, but beyond my resources. Maybe after the used ones get a little older. How is the spring seat working? Would be interested in details, if you got the time.

Still have a motorcycle endorsement on my license, and my 2003 Honda 750 Nighthawk is in the garage waiting for me, but those days are gone. I'll just be a passenger from now on.
Edit: Cruzin to LI's Ocean Parkway and the beach on my previous bike, a Yamaha Heritage 650.

2015 HD 48 sportster, spring seat, 4.5 gal tank, mid controls, slip ons and quick detach winshield. Really wanted a Triumph BB, but this was 1/2 again cheaper. Big difference from a previous 73 xlch owned when considerably younger.

Hi Zeke,
Thanks for that mate. There are some great deals around on used Bobbers, so keep your eyes open.
In regards my 'sprung' seat, I wrote up a whole thread on the project on the Bobber Forum, so drop me a pm and I will hook you up with a link.
But put simply, I wanted one of those old style retro seats, so grabbed a reproduction one off ebay. After some trial and error, made a moveable front bracket and had my mechanic weld some lugs onto the swing arm. Long story sort, it worked wonderfully, looks great, is more comfortable and has improved the handling, despite some folks says 'it wouldn't work'.
Some extra pics for you.
Cheerio,
Roy

83 Goldwing Interstate. I got it late 2013 with 28K miles...now at 58K miles. It replaced the 1974 BMW R90/6 that I rode for 26 years.

Well, this thread is always fun 'cause we all get to post up pics of our scooters. this time around I am unable to find the pics of my Motocross bike. It was a Hodaka 125 Combat Wombat. You may recall it from previous bike pic threads. Had yellow tank and fenders and my BIL was next to me with his Hodaka only his was gray. I chose yellow because I thought it resembled a Mako.
1. My first scoot. a Cushman Eagle. the pic was taken in 1959.
2. This is my 1962 Honda Dream 125. Pic taken in '63 on Okinawa
3. Miss Pam with my 1971 Kawasaki 500.We were still dating.
4. This was my pride and joy and my last bike. 1985 Honda V-65 Magna. 1100cc of awesome power. You grab the throttle on this'n and you best be holdin' on tight or it will run right out from under you.
I thought I'd never get off but I'm glad now that I did when I did. It's just too dangerous now with all the traffic and idiots running around in 4-wheelers. We had been having a lot of close calls and we decided to let it go.
But somewhere, down deep, when I hear that throaty roar and see that flash of chrome and shiny paint....

1998 Wide Glide
Sold all my twin cams. I’ll stick with my carbureted, single cam - the way a Harley should be. Fuel injected twin cams are the equivalent of Smiths with the lock.

Eric yer a singin' my song on the no-trike-for-me thing. three wheels is dangerous and unnatural. Even Mother Nature knows that. Just think about it...have you ever seen an animal with 3 legs? (a 4-legged animal with one cut off don't count. : )
Nope, give me 2 wheels and let me feel the curves and hills and a 360 deg view, or give me 4 wheels with a/c and stereo.

Like WarrenRoss - Love my Victory. Best riding motorcycle I've ever owned or ridden.
Also pictures of my 1991 Gold Wing Anniversary and my 1978 Wing. I also have a Honda Rebel 250 the wife use to play with.

OK, I'll play.
100 inch Evo hardtail chopper, 12 inch over, 6 speed belt drive primary and secondary, I built myself. Gets up and goes in a straight line, but not a bike for a novice.
2001 Road King, 88 inch twin cam. Stock except low restriction exhaust and a little carb tuning.
2001 Low Rider 88 inch twin cam. Nice all around bike. Screaming Eagle pipes and carb. Sold.
1991 Sportster 883 that I converted to 1200 and changed the cams, some carb work. Straight pipes. A real sleeper as far as get up and go. Since sold.
1982 Honda 750 Nighthawk I bought in 1984 as a leftover. Nice all around bike, actually, even though not a Harley... Since sold. No pic.
1980 1000cc Sportster shovelhead. My only ride that first winter as I didn't have a running car. 36,000 about trouble free miles, rare for an AMF shovelhead in those days. Gone now.
A bunch more I don't have pics of. My first was a Honda Dream 305 twin with pipes back before I had a MC License.

My view on three wheels. All the disadvantages a motorcycle has plus all the disadvantages an automobile has.

Most of my moto pics are on defunct devices. The only bike I have on an operating device is my 1998 KLR. I got a great deal on the bike in 2004 and pretty much parked my BMWs and Guzzis after that. I pretty much quit doing road touring, but I rode it to BMW rallies, Moab and Sturgis.
I did a couple of Elephant Rides on it, a February ride over Colorado’s Guanella pass. I put a 7.2 gallon IMS plastic fuel tank on it that gave it a range of over 300 miles if I rode it easy. Corbin seat, revalved forks and shocks and stiffer springs were some of the other more significant mods.
A couple of years, I rode it all winter, not every day, but at least once in every month of the year, made possible by the judicious application of ice screws. It was a good off-road bike if conditions were not too tight, but it was too much for me on single-track, and too big a whale to ride to Mexico. I know guys who did both, but they were way out of my league. A man’s got to know his limitations.
The Triumph I sold to a brother-in-law quite a few years ago, but he left it unchanged from the way I sold it too him. It was a 1973 750 Bonneville, with the oil tank in the frame, so not a real desirable year, and one of the last of the right-hand shifters. It was pretty much stockmexcept for the mufflers and larger-diameter header pipes.
It was a nice bike for day trips and overnights, and had a firm, flat sest with good padding, so the ladies usually enjoyed the pillion.

I'm currently riding a 2014 Harley Ultra that I bought new. I'm fortunate to live in the mecca of motorcycle riding country and have ridden all over the Arkansas and Missouri Ozarks.
I've also ridden all over the southern United States with some memorable trips including the Great Smoky Mountains several times; the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway a couple of times, the entire length of Natchez Trace numerous times, the Gulf Coast a couple of times, and have been down to the Texas Hill Country and further south to the Big Bend.
I'm leaving later this month with a buddy for a ride up to South Dakota for a week to the Mount Rushmore area.

I ride motorcycles. The yearly milage is not that great, and never was, but I have been around (trail riding, racing TT, Motocross and Trials) motorcycles my whole life. Here are a few that I have now.
The Honda XR650L is the newest one I have ever owned.
1967 Triumph Tiger Cub
1968 BSA 440 Victor
2007 Honda XR650L

Can hear the truth on the dangerous roads now a days, and live in a vacation area with lots of lakes and curving 2 lane county hwys. Mostly i ride during the week, as it is dangerous to be riding around in a car with the tourpests, especially on holidays. First bike was a 73 xlch bought in early 80's. Kick start, first edition of front disk brake (grab and pray) and no oil filter. Almost killed myself several times, but survived. Added 2 Norton 850 project bikes and brandy new 86 BMW k75. Kept the K75 for some years as it was a fine all around ride with added heated grips, low seat, locking luggage and electric vest hooked up.
Like some others, this is likely my last go round and wanted to have the feeling again after medical kept me off for quite awhile. Main road hazards are deer, bear, turkey and tour pests. Enjoy it while ya still got it, and make some more memory's if able.
Was able to afford it again cause nice young un, and his father, did not understand a dry sump. Father says "all harleys leak oil", as they only measured the oil level cold and kept adding it. Got it for 2000 under what others were selling them for in the late fall.

2015 Road Glide. Since this picture I've added color matched fairing lowers. Bought this one new in September 2014 and it rolled over 15,000 miles today.
Traded in this 03 100th Anniversary Road Glide to get the 15.
Think the 03 had right at 45k on the clock when I traded it.

Been riding since I was around 20. Mostly bikes I pieced together. Never could afford a new Harley till 2000.
Can only find pics of my last 2.
2002 Wide Glide, and my current 2014 Street Glide.
About 5 minutes before riding into monsoon.

Your Motorcycle - Show & Tell
The trip of a life time back in 2014.....I rode from Texas to Alaska on my 1200RT. My brother rode from California on his 1100 RT....we met up in Boise.....I have been riding since I was a kid, now as old age sets it not so much.
I can’t recall where on the Cassiar the first picture was taken but the second was on Al-Can highway, Nugget City, Yukon. The last pic was in Whitehorse, Yukon.

In 2010, I rode my now gone R12RT from Omaha to Hyder, AK via Dallas (kids lived there). The thing that struck me was as you go further north how much more spectacular the scenery gets. On the way up I was thinking how fantastic Wyoming and Montana were. On the way back through Glacier and Yellowstone, I was thinking "meh."
For all the great motorcycle experiences I had, my favorite Alaska memory is being on a zodiac inflatable in a bay on the Inside Passage and having a gray whale poke it's eye out of the water a few yards from the boat to check me out. Alaska's a magical place.

Can’t agree more with you......for months after the trip I was depressed not seeing the grandeur of it all...it was a spiritual experience for me. I too left from the north Texas metroplex. I also visited Hyder but stayed in Stewart.....and we rode up to the bear watching station up from Hyder. We saw only a wolf but still it was impressive and into am a Wyoming-Montana- Black Hills fan.

I've had a lot of bikes... getting near 40 years of riding now.
Here's a few:
'96 VFR750... 1st bike I bought new. Loved that V4 sound!
BMW RS1100RSL... fantastic sport touring bike. Rode it all over the western US.
My last race bike... 'retired' from road racing bikes in 2006.
VStrom 1000... another fantastic touring bike. Rode this one all over the US, and set my personal time/distance record on it. 1352 miles in 22 hours!
Current ride, and probably the best all-'round bike I've owned over the years, '15 Yamaha FJ-09...
Like the OP, I live in Prescott, AZ, and there's some great riding around here. Unfortunately my riding mileage has decreased over the last couple of years as many of my riding cohorts have aged out of two wheel adventures, and our roads have become clogged with dangerously inattentive drivers. Still get out when I can though, and I will until I can no longer throw a leg over the 'ol mount.

Vintage Motorcycles
1976 Honda CB500T. I take it to work just 15 minutes from the house and occasionally to church. The yellow one is not a moped but a 1981 Honda C70 Passport. I take that one to work occasionally. The basket holds a six pack of beer perfectly. Happy Fourth!

My motorcycle adventure is just trying to buy one. I sold my Honda NC700 and had my eye on a Harley Street Rod (not the Street, the Street Rod).
It seems the current Harley business model is to set their price above MSRP and negotiate upward. Sorry, I know what MSRP is, why it exists, and what it's supposed to do. The local dealer didn't have any in stock anyhow.
Contacted another dealer that had six used ones in stock, and about that many new ones. I contacted them with one request; what is the out-the-door cash price for them? You see, I live far away from that dealer, and the path of least resistance is through downtown Seattle, so I don't want to drive over there several times playing the BS dealer games. They so far, after five or six back-&-forth emails, refuse to answer. They actually started the dealer games via email too! "I'll have to talk to my manager..." The General Manager emailed me and even he won't answer. Sorry, not driving over there if there's any chance I'll just have to walk out the door due to those sorts of BS games.
Several people have told me they really want you in the building so they can upcharge you and that they really make the most money off their financing. So my telling them I had cash in hand was Strike one...
I contacted one of the Yamaha dealers asking about the Bolt, never even got a reply.
Nothing else makes me want to drop the F-bomb more than dealer games. We all know about the tactics, and we know what they're trying to do.
I think part of it is that this is prime-time for buying a bike, and they don't need the customers, especially the cash buyers. They don't realize they're burning bridges, and I will NEVER buy from them if they jerk me around.
I've mostly lost interest now.

About seven years ago life circumstances caused us to decide to give up riding forever. Over the years we had talked about how much we missed riding. I honestly think my wife missed it even more than I did. Last week we were talking about it again and trying to figure out how she could ride again (she is a leg amputee who has trouble wearing a prosthetic). To make a long story short we went the next day and bought this Heritage Softail Classic.

I had Japanese sport bikes in the '70s and '80s, and bought my first BMW in 1992 (hence my screen name).
My current (and probably last) bike is a 2013 R1200R...

All this talk and all the great pics have really had me thing a lot about those good ol' days. I thought this would be a good spot to throw this'n out. I haven't seen it for a while and reading it put a lump in my throat.
THE LAST RIDE
One of the things I have always wondered is; if I was doing something that I loved, something that I'd love all my life, and doing it for the last time, and knew it would be the last time, would I have done it any differently. Would I have tried harder to imprint each moment in my mind so that I could relive it later when this time was relegated to the past?. Or would that knowledge spoil it and cause me to spend the entire time brooding about the end of an era.
I'ts kind of hard to say but knowing myself as I do I kind of suspect that it's best that I didn't know this would be my last ride.
As a result of my mothers vehement refusal to let even the tip of my little finger come into physical contact with any motorized object with only two wheels I was forced to wait until I was on my own before getting my first motorcycle. It was May something-or-other of 1963. I was stationed on Okinawa and bought a 1962 Honda Dream 125 in mint condition. That was the beginning of an era that lasted approximately 39 years.
I sold my last motorcycle, it was a Honda 1100cc V-65 Magna. Custom pinstriped by Bucky and sporting lots of goodies including custom seat and handlebar grips, in 2002. When the guy that bought it rode it out my driveway and around the corner, and I saw it and heard it's low, mellow roar for the last time, Pam and I were standing out on the driveway. It caught me completely off guard but as I got my last glimpse of it and it's throaty rumble for the last time, something in me just broke. I felt a punch in the gut and a lump in my throat.....there goes the last motorcycle I'll ever ride. It was all I could do to keep my knees from buckling. I almost went into shock.
Pam was standing right next to me and she must have been looking at my face at that moment because she moved around in front of me, put her arms around my neck and caught me with her pretty blue eyes. She told me not to feel bad. She said she understood the emotionl trauma I was going through and she would help me through it. She reminded me of the reasons it was time for us to "get off" and that we had many years of great memories to sustain us.She kissed me and told me she loved me and hugged me real tight.
Inspite of the fact that my heart was breaking (I was not selling the bike because I was tired of it, I still loved to ride, but it was just "time" and that's another long sad story.), I knew she was right and her strength and the power of her love would see me through.
And it did....and it still does....and it always will.
********************************************** The Ride ******************************************
My best friend, who was stationed with me on "The Rock" and had a motorcycle of his own, and I had been wanting to get out and go on a long road trip. We hand't done that for a while and we were itching to get out for a few days and get a good mix of super-slab and back road. It was a sunny morning late in March of '98 when we took off and headed west. Our destination was Big Bend Nationl Park, then on to points north and west. We spent the first night in Ft. Stockton. The ride was very pleasant. Uneventful but a nice easy first day of the 5-day adventure. We had a big steak dinner, hit the pool for a bit, and turned in early so we could get rolling all the earlier the next morning.
We went across Lake Amistad (SP?) and visited Judge Roy Bean's Law West Of The Pecos. When we got to the entrance of the Park we stopped for a rest at the entrance sign and took some pics. Then we went on in and rode through the Chisos Mountain range. We rode to the top of Chisos Mountain and had a burger in the souvinere shop. The road going up the mountain was STEEP! It was a little on the hairy side too as there was a trench in the middle of the "going-up" side and there were rocks and gravel all over the road. Some excitement added to the day.
Later we went through Marathon and had a nice meal at the Gage Hotel. Finally we arrived at La Jitas, on the Rio Grande. We stayed at the Badlands Hotel there for two nights. We spent our time there just riding around the countryside and seeing the sights. Alpine, Terlingua, etc.
When we left there we went farther west to Presidio and turned North. We went to the McDonald Observatory and on through old Ft. Davis. We wound up in Leaky Texas, in the hill country and brother, let me tell you, there are some mighty fine roads for motorcycles in that area. Every inch of pavement offeres challenge and thrills. We spent our last night out at the Whiskey Mountain Inn outside Leaky.
We woke up the last morning of the ride and guess what?!? It was 34 deg. F.!! A couple of days before, at the ranger station in BBNP it had been 110 deg. Neither of us had expected such extremes in Temperatures. But, Always lookin' on the bright side, we didn't see one drop of rain the entire time.
We took a winding little county road down from Leaky to old HWY 90 and rode until we got to a little town called Sabinal. We pulled in and ate a big breakfast and drank coffee until it warmed up some.
Then we mounted up and began the last day and the trip home. I can never express what that trip meant to me. We had thrills and chills but no spills. We started out on an early Friday morning and arrived home Tuesday afternoon. It was five full days on the road and just a wee bit over 2,000 miles on the bikes.

I wish I had pics of my earliest bikes. I didn't take enough pictures when cameras still used film...
Heading for Beartooth Pass ~2003...
Independence Pass in '04...
Sadly, the two on the right are no longer with us, but fondly remembered.
