Default Local Fireworks

Laying in the rack listening to large mortar after mortar report last night. Couldn't help but wonder in the fireworks shop had caught fire or what? These mortars were rapid fire with huge kabooms, definitely not the cheap variety. Don't know if the rich folk have moved in or the stimulus checks have been cashed......either way it's a huge uptick from years gone by. Thinking I'll bust off a few high powered rounds during the brief action lull tonight; maybe a few 3 1/2 inch shotgun blasts. At least I'll be part of the celebratory noise rather than the old man
curmudgeon

Yeah its safe to shoot around here

It's been like that for a couple weeks now for my neighborhood, and I live in an urban area. I pretty much expect it on July 4th, but since mid-June? Seriously? I imagine I'll have to listen to it for at least another couple of weeks.

Ah! There it is now. It's not even dark yet.

It has been surprisingly quiet around here this year. Lots of fireworks stands. Commercially done shows every Saturday night thru the summer.
I have a lot of small stuff to play with.

They cancelled the annual parade in our little city but the big fireworks show is still going to happen about 250 yards from our house. Thankfully Rocky is about deaf or he would be in my lap for the 8 minutes these things are expected to go off around 9pm.

I took a quick ride today about 2PM or so and saw lots of parties going on, No one was out side. Too dang hot.

Then we had a great thunderstorm about an hour ago to get every thing wet down.

Watched the Trump party/Air show and now the rain cleared out.

It's dark now and no rain, Fireworks everywhere! I'd say overall it's going good.

It sounds like a war zone now. It makes me proud that people are celebrating this nations birth and enjoying their freedoms.

Just had a little fireworks display in the apartment complex where I live. And it was kids under adult supervision!

The neighbors are blasting off their fireworks, q surprising number are "commercial grade" (Big). The PTA old ladies and Mrs. Houston are typing into a frenzy in their concern about the safety of such fireworks in a residential area and the impact on their dainty pets. May the young people have fun and make many good Fourth of July Memories.

We are at the ranch for the weekend. Lots of work and no fireworks.
At home we have been listening and watching the illegal type fireworks in out neighborhood for a little over a week. I don’t mind them and neither do the hunting dogs, but the Mrs hates them because she is certain they will burn our house down.
We have been spending the 4th at the ranch for the last 5-6 years.
On a good note, I got to push 100 rounds done the tube in my 66 ND today. All is well.

We live in the county where fireworks are legal. Awesome show all around us. Some of them look and sound like commercial grade. Stuff gets better, albeit more expensive every year. Been here 17 years and I've never seen it like this. Horizon to horizon, constant barrage.

Haven't seen the cat for hours tho.

We live at the end of a dead end road well outside of town. Every year the city people congregate at the end, set off their $$$ fireworks leaving behind beer cans, diapers, needles, and all their other trash for me and my neighbor to clean up the next day. They've even caused grass fires in 2011 and 2012. Next year we're going to set up a road block for only residents to keep the trash from using our property for their parties. It worked one year, but for some reason we never continued it. They're shooting guns this year - I worry about my cattle, and my neighbor's horses are going bonkers.

Plenty of fireworks in our subdivision for the past 4 or 5 night. Our dog is not a big fan...

July 4 has become a week long fireworks event. Our neighborhood had several people with the good stuff, probably illegal. It sounded louder than the city’s usually does.

The neighbors did a good job with early fireworks, nothing a big as in the past. Was over before 10 pm. All the crazy neighborhood dogs were hid and not a peep out of them.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

We did our part of social distancing, staying away from the big fireworks shows. It was a great evening, with two six year old grandboys, we did back yard fireworks show with a lot of the "small stuff". The grandboys had a blast shooting the roman candles, and running around with the old time sparklers that put out a smoke screen. The Buck moon was fantastic at dusk. New way to do 4th of July for my bunch and I think it will not be the last one. Much fun and grandpaw got to sit in his favorite chase in the corner of the yard and drink a cold beverage during the show and laughter.

Local display was cancelled, though at least (as we live 2 blocks from where they set them off) on a usual year we can just plan for it and put our dog in for a stay at a kennel out of town. And normally those shot off around the area ‘hoods are usually just that night or so.
This year, its been going on for a week+ and last night literally sounded like I had a war movie cranked up in our home theater. I could even smell the sulfa when stepping outside. Any fireworks that leave the ground or explode are illegal here. Which of course is what all the roadside stands sell lol.

I can enjoy a fireworks display at an event, but for our dog (and other’s pets) and especially anyone who suffers from Ptsd; all these home displays are too much.

Just my .02

The local fireworks were insane last night. Normally the guy across the street throws a big party every year complete with an impressive fireworks display, but I wasn't expecting him to do one this year because of the virus and thought for sure that he wouldn't be doing one at all considering that although he did have a small party going, it appeared to only be close friends. Well, much to my surprise, he really went all out this year with a fireworks display grander than ever before. I don't know whether he had purchased those fireworks long in advance and decided he was just going to use them anyway or if he just decided that with everything going on a big celebration was necessary regardless of how few guests were in attendance, but it was wild.

I'm talking rapid-fire mortars, each lighting up the night sky with an impressive burst of color and sound. I was in my backyard at the time, just watching a small display conducted by my brother consisting mostly of fountains, but it was beautiful nontheless, even if the smoke coming off of them irritated my lungs and made me cough a bit. I'm glad that I decided to go out last night instead of staying indoors as I was considering doing because I had a lot of fun, more than I had in a very long time.

I had an excellent Independence Day, and hope that all of you did as well.

We have had serious fireworks laws in the peoples republic of NY for decades. Sparklers are about the only legal fireworks allowed!

Our commie want to be a dictator governor due to the C19 stuff canceled all pro shows .

So with that it should have been quite up here at the lake. LIKE USUAL the stuff going off around the lake was sounding/looking like the Battle Of The Bulge.

Starts about 8pm and goes on till about 12 PM.(sporadic afterwards) The amount of money spent on illegal fireworks has to be a real big number. For the best looking spot go out to the middle of the lake and you get 360 degree action.

The cops (2 agencies) just drive around the lake and seem to enjoy the show just as much as we do! I doubt they have the capacity to arrest thousands.

My observation from last night is the same OP. Serious uptick in fireworks, most I have seen.

Field of vision out by me is significant, being in farm land. Minimum 8 professional grade shows I could see in 360 degrees; this with all the town shows being cancelled.

Went to a cookout at a friends house in the city and there was a lot going on; mortars, not just your simple bottle rockets etc. Glad people were having fun and celebrating our country.

The fireworks show here was over the lake. About 35 minutes of fireworks reflecting over the water in one direction and a full moon in the other. Hundreds of boats spread over a large area. Very impressive.

My sister always has big 4th of July party at her house on 80 acres in Bristow, OK and it's a lot of fun with all kinds of meats being grilled and lots of homemade side dishes and deserts with lots of relatives coming from all over the state and out of state. We went there yesterday and watched the fireworks show she put on and they lit off one item that was really impressive and looked like anti-aircraft fire going off with various big colorful starbursts in the sky. I was curious and asked approximately how much that one firework cost and she said about $175! That's for just one firework! I had no idea she spent so much money on her show.

I have several neighbors who always have great displays and this year wasn't any different. However, a new neighbor had a number of people over and started their fireworks around 9:30. Didn't mind them at all until they started firing several semi- autos too. Several had 30 round magazines and they really felt the need to celebrate!

Same here except thousands of boats. Mid-afternoon there were 700 boats counted in just one bay!

The "revolt" against the cancellation of public displays and forth of July parties included a LOT of illegal fireworks in LA and in many other smaller cities

Watched this video a couple times - did the illegal fireworks come by the train load?
Almost no one had ever seen such a massive show - talking 100,000 shells X hours

Those mortar shells cost what $100 -$200 or more - stimulus checks?

Our neighborhood in SW Washington has residences that spend thousands on commercial, 2 to 6 inch aerial mortars. The shops sell mortars the size of a basketball. The celebration starts around the 1st and continues through the 5th. The aggregate celebration surpasses most public displays. No wimpy safe & sane fireworks in our hood.
