C&R License Question
C&R License Holders:
When sending a copy is it necessary to send a copy of the entire page or just the bottom of the copy ?

C&R License Question
I send the entire copy, but have received only the top, at times. That bottom part is more informational than functional.
The biggest thing is the place where you sign, your address, and your FFL number. All of that is pertinent to shipping the firearm and logging it out of their bound book.
By the way, don’t mark the original. Only thing that gets signed are copies. Just wanted to make sure that’s clear.

I scanned and made a .jpeg copy of my C&R FFL which I will send to sellers of the firearm I'm buying. However, I have modified the FFL copy I send by adding in BIG red letters on the right hand bottom of the FFL copy. "File Copy of FFL Only. Not for Face-to-Face transactions." This hopely will prevent YOUR FFL from being used by someone else to acquire firearms.

Maybe I'm just dense, but I don't see where the risk is of someone else using one's C&R.
If it's mail order, by law the firearm has to be sent to the address on the FFL. So someone's buying me free C&R. Awesome!
Face to face, they're not going to have a picture ID that matches the name and address on the license, so an FFL can't legally sell to them either.
If it's a private F2F transaction, no license is needed.
What am I missing?

This risk is being a fraud victim.
Private face to face transactions requirements vary greatly from state to state. In IL for example one must complete a form on the IL State Police web site, enter in your buyers FOID number, wait for approval and then wait three days to actually hand them the gun regardless if it's hand gun or long gun.

But what is the potential fraud? I am genuinely confused, not trying to sound like a jerk or be combative for the sake of trolling.
I fully understand the risks for unauthorized use of an -01 or -07, but I don't see how those flow down to an -03.

Right. Which is why I'm confused how someone could actually effectuate a fraudulent transaction with an FFL-03. An FFL would have to verify with ID for our bound book. If a private F2F transaction, the FFL-03 doesn't add anything (and wouldn't be recorded anywhere).

Just as schutzen-jager says, see an ID to match the 03 FFL. If they came by your 03 FFL copy, not marked, they could try and use it to buy something else from someone else.

There is a very real possibility of fraud being done with your FFL copy and I want to lessen any chance of it happening to me. I just don't what to spend hours trying to explain to the BATF how a firearm was obtained with my FFL but there is no record of it in my bound book! Is far better to be on the safe side than sitting in some Gov't. office trying to explain something you know absolutely nothing about.
