Default Watching the News

First off I’m tired of the Covid 19 / Chinese Cootie stories that’s for starters! Trump and other political stories are wearing thin as well.
What is really getting to me with the news is that the main reporters were not going into the studios, and doing their reports via computer stream from home and then they sound like they are talking out of a drum,,,very poor! They are still doing this while now interviewing people, not reporting from location, person sounds like they’re in a drum. Very poor sound engineering. If these people don’t want to do it right or afraid of going to their work then dont, but then don’t do a crummy job reporting it?
Haven’t been watching much news and this is one of the reasons why plus I’m just tired of having the same old Cootie virus baloney hashed out over and over. Remember wear that mask,,,this is the new normal!
Let’s see numbers up today, down yesterday but maybe even tomorrow? This state was red now they’re in the yellow but turn green on Thursday.
In all reality nothing has changed around me except for this stupidity.
Last week the wife and I actually went out to a restaurant and had real breakfast!
Okay rant off and so is the news!

I agree Watching the News percent! Thought maybe I was the only one. There is far too much conflicting information and a ton of BS "news" I'm pretty sick of it too. I don't believe most of the propaganda anyhow.

I don't listen to news or talk radio and only catch the TV news in passing but it seems either the CIC has foot in mouth disease or C19 is spreading like wildfire is all I see and hear.

That's the best thing to do. I did that a few weeks ago and my blood pressure went down.
You already know who's side your on so why listen to BS?

I subscribe to the George H. W. Bush philosophy, as interpreted by Saturday Night Live's Dana Carvey: "Nah gah dah, wouldn't be prudent."

Default Six (6!) million people live...

...in Maryland. Four hundred, four (404!!!) souls are currently hospitalized due to the Sweet and Sour Sicken.

Do the math!

Daresay more folks had tooth extractions than are ill from the Shanghai Shivers today.

Yet Lockdown Larry still has not fully reopened our once great state and contemplates schools not fully reopening in the fall.

Be safe...be well.

Oh, I don’t know. My wife and I have found entertainment in the betting sports.
We bet on whether the news will be a thumbs up day or a thumbs down day. It’s usually pretty even with every other day but sometimes we’ll get two days in a row of the same trash.
I’ve reloaded everything I have, spent my budget on guns and knives for the month....what else am I gonna do?
Let’s not even talk about yard work. I’m about to puke if things get any greener around here.
I’m going to be naughty soon and load up a few guns and head to deer camp for some shooting very soon.
The problem with that is that I’ll have to take the tractor and bush hog for a day or two first. It’s been two or three months since I’ve been out there.
Oh well, life goes on and I still have my health!

Have to agree with Loknload.
I am old enough to remember my dad watching Walter Kronkite evening news. It lasted 1/2 an hour if I remember correctly. Any and all pertinent issues could be be covered fully without all the opinions, talking heads, expert pro, expert con, blah blah blah.
A lot of my neighbors are retired and apparently watch a LOT of news. Each time we chat I am brought up to date on what scoundrels the liberals are and what barbarians the conservatives are. The good news is the conversations do not last as long as a news program.
I am good with a quick peek at a couple news sites in the morning and then off to work. If anything important happened during the day, it will still be on the news the next morning.

Walter was pretty liberal but you wouldn’t know it watching his broadcasts.
He was the know all end all for news. If he reported it, it happened.
Turned out he did have an opinion but he kept it to himself till the end.

Today the main purpose of the news is to make mountains from molehills, create hostility, partition their viewers into groups, and then pit them against each other.

I can do without.

When I was a kid in the 60's, the news was all about racial injustice, war, riots and demonstrations, disease, dirty politics, crime.

Today, the names and places have changed, but it's the same thing.

Gives me a headache.....

When I was young the "news" was fifteen minutes of local news (mainly the weather) and fifteen minutes of national news. AND, that was all we needed.

Today there is no real news. Its 24/7 entertainment, gotcha and pushing an agenda.

I'm old school so I still read the local newspaper every day. I saw a story today that the cops had made a drug bust and seized $186k in cash plus a bunch of heroin and fentanyl. There was a picture in the paper of the seizure and I thought that you can tell we're not in the big time around here as the cash was all bundles of 20's. On TV the cash in drug busts is always Benjamin's.

I start my day off reading the local rag paper. The sorry thing about it our local paper company sold out to a Hedge Fund operator and they stripped it clean.
We had an award winning newspaper for a small town with a staff that was par to none. Local paper was in town from the beginning and the new owners stripped it clean and just about wiped out our local radio station as well which was part of the deal.
Now this sad rag isn’t even fit for the outhouse!
So as time goes by!

I also live in MD. The number hospitalized in no way represents the full spectrum of infection. You are only hospitalized if it is the only way to save your life. A friend, an RN, is in her second month of recovering. She takes 16 different daily medicines to cope with the effects of the disease. She was never hospitalized. She has a "mild" case by the official definition.

If Hogan opens the state, we will be like AZ or FL. Remember, we still have NO IDEA what the long-term effects of the disease are. Many who are initially asymptomatic are having strokes or other complications 3-4 months later. What will happen to these people a year later? Ten years later?

I have two kids in public school. Opening the schools this fall would be a disaster.

The precautionary principle is the only way to proceed in the face of a public health crisis.

YES!!! And this is EXACTLY what they all lack today. As far as I am concerned they are nothing more than a gaggle of blithering idiots hiding behind the protections of a document they don't understand and are collectively trying to destroy. As tempting as it might be, we cannot tune out and go down without a fight.
