My best buddy is gone.
At just 47 days shy of 14 years, we had to make a hard decision
and chose to end our Golden Retriever Buddy's suffering.
At 3:15 PM today, he passed and headed for Rainbow Bridge,
where we will see him again. Not too soon, I hope.
In the interim, I will miss him terribly.

Sorry to hear this.
Know just how you feel.
Shadow had to be put down about 8 weeks ago.
Her buddy, Shady Lady, is just getting over it now.....

Beautiful dog!
Huge loss.
I’ve had to do that twice and will probably have to do it again in the next year: my oldest Springer turned 13 this summer.

You have all my sympathy for your loss of Buddy. He was a fine looking dog, and no doubt a good companion.

I'm sad to hear this.
I'm looking at my 13 year old and counting days. She gave me a scare today when she couldn't get up on her own. It's a tough thing.
God bless,

Sorry for your loss. It’s very tough to deal with. I’ve had to do that myself several times. Never gets any easier. Our oldest beagle Lucy who’s 12 just blew an ACL in her left hind leg. Can hardly get around. Sits on my lap all day. I carry her outside regularly to get her business done. She’s on pain pills and anti inflammatory meds.
Still smiles at me and always looking for her next meal and snack. It’s really hard. I’ll take care of her like family because she is.

Oh man I hate these threads because I know that I am going to have to go through it too. All we can do is give our dogs the love back that they give us and to make sure that we can give them the best lives possible, they are awesome creatures!

Please accept my condolences and a prayer that he may find the Rainbow Bridge quickly. Our Basset recently crossed over and I can relate to your grief.

Rainbow bridge awaits...
We lost our "Buddy" 7 years ago. He was a tumor factory, rare and untreatable.
I know your pain as in the above posts!

Sorry for your loss.
I used to have a female. She was my first hunting dog. I was too dumb at the time to “know” Goldens were poor hunters.
She was a good hunter and the best companion dog I ever had. Goldens just seem to know how to make their human feel better.

A fitting name I am sure. I'm really sorry for the pain I know your family is going through. I hope you have some comfort in knowing that you gave him a great life, and you will both always be buddies. Till you meet again.

Buddy looks so much like my wonderful Heidi dog who had a little Collie and German Shepherd mix. I KNOW why you are heart broken.

My pound hound, a "chow/pit" mix was a huge part of my life for just shy of 14 years.
He, like yours was a constant source of companionship and dedicated to "HIS" family.
Toward the end he had become mostly deaf and lost all strength in his rear legs.
December 2nd 2019 I had to let him go. It was and still is one of the biggest heartbreaks of my life.
At times I still think I hear him in the distance.

Understand your loss and feel for you. I had to put down my Black Lab/Chesapeake bay Retriever mix when he was 15 years 6 months old. Still miss him and it has been about 15 years. There are people who need to go away rather than a good dog.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that Buddy appreciated the life you provided him as much as you appreciated his love, affection, and loyalty.
I have had Golden Retrievers throughout my entire life. I have cherished the relationship that I had with each of them. My current girl is 11 years old and still the best dog ever. I hope you have peace in the great memories and experiences you had with Buddy.
