Default ‘Tis the season...

Hurricane that is. Pulled out Rubbermaid boxes of supplies, identified everything was still in place. Batteries, water, canned goods, etc. etc.

Pull out the generator, pulled it one time, and off it went. Put the coffee maker on it and made a pot of hot water. I pull out the generator every so often and run it for 1/2 hour or so.

Last undone task is to get gas. I’ll do that first time a storm even sniffs its nose in this direction.

I really would like to get my generator to run on natural gas. Need to put that on the list.

Start making ice, a system is crossing Central America and may re-organize in the Gulf tomorrow.

Almost enough to make you move a few miles north.

We start our generator at the beginning of every month and run it for about 20 minutes and check a couple outlets on it to make sure everything is running good.

Buy some plywood now, while you can still get it for 10 bucks a sheet.

Yep, it's that time. I have a portable Generac 6500 I need to fire up, it's been a month. I've decided to bite the bullet and install a whole home 22kw Generac, but it will be 7 or 8 weeks until installation. That's before prime time hurricane chance but one never knows. Dennis hit here in July and really did a number on us in 2005. I'm pretty well stocked up except for gas, I'll take care of that this week.

You will be glad when the whole house generator is installed. It exercises itself once a week automatically. It turns out we had a power outage last night and I just slept through the whole thing.

Well, I got my sniff. Went out and got gas a few days ago. Looks like it’s “only a drill”, but that’s OK. I’m ready for the remainder of the season.

I never would have found the "expired" can of hash I enjoyed with my eggs this morning if Izzy hadn't done us a blow by.
