He is showing you an ear for a 55 grain Winchester Soft Point. He will be belly deep in the slop in hog heaven before he hits the ground.
Fixed the picture!

Actually, that ain’t no bad looking pig.
Looks like a bo’hawg, so would need to be castrated,
and fed out on corn for a month. Would make for some
fine sausage, ribs, hams, and butts.
You better trap him.

I've had others run through the property and get caught on cams but no other signs other than tracks. This one came back two dif nights and I've seen oval hoof prints in the field and roads lately.
Time for a stake/steak out.

I have heard of feral pig sightings in Washington state but no local sightings, yet... Some people go to other states specifically to hunt the pigs. I would rather spend the money on S&W wheel guns. Pork is cheap at the butchers.

I would love to go some place and shoot some pigs with a big bore revolver.
I bought a completely processed pig, with smoked hams and bacon for $250 total from the trough to frozen, last month. Right now pigs are dirt cheap around here. But, its hard to find a butcher who isn't booked up till fall though. Mine charges $.65 a lb, cut, wrapped and frozen in whatever sized packages you want. Plus, $50 for the kill, clean and skin. $100 for a beef. If you ever cleaned and skinned beef a $100 isn't bad.

That looks like a Moultire feeder. My first thought was how and why is it still standing !! My feeders are 55 gal drums supported by PIPE legs and wired to a steel T post on each leg. Without the T post braces, a feeder will be on the ground overnight. My timer is solar charged and a good battery will easily last two years. Corn is all you need.

When we had wild hogs tearing up everything I would gut shoot "em" or shoot "em" with buckshot. So they would die somewhere else and I wouldn't have to mess with them........Hate "em' worse than roaches and rats.

Steel we got one done up too. weighed up pretty good and then we split it with my daughter. Little cheaper on the killing and all but still I was surprised how cheap it was. Pig like the one above would be easy for a BBQ but killing cutting and wrapping any critter is a lot of work. Next time I'm giving them my sausage recipe. or I'll just have 'em grind it and we'll mix it up. We have also bought a steer locally and are waiting till he gets big 'nuff for processing. 100 bucks killing and 50 cents pound for cutting and wrapping. Just bought 50 bushels of corn from a farmer friend up in Montana for finishing him off at the end. Not real cheap to raise critters is it

I was looking into this a year ago. From what I found closest thing to killing all that you want is North Carolina, don't need a non-resident license and you can kill as many as you want. Thought about talking to family and friends for trip money and a small refer truck, kill 30 of them, gut them and throw them in the truck then head home pass out the pigs to whoever helped fund the truck.
We used to butcher our own pigs when I was a young man.

Actually, that pig has a lot of “Spot,” or Spotted Poland China blood. I don’t know if they are even
still a recognized breed, but they were once some of the best meat pigs.

In the pig tthe $50 kill was included in the $250 total. One of the things I don't like about deer and elk is the processing. I can field dress one in no time. But, cutting them up is a pain. I get the good steaks and some roast, then it goes to the grinder. I got a huge bag of beef tallow in the freezer. Mix it in with the venison. Some venison, beef or pork tallow, seasoning, stuff it in casings and into the smoker. MMM good.
I have heard those wild hogs can be a little rank unless pretty young. I have no idea. I do love BBQed pork ribs and good bacon/ MMMMMMMMMM Bacon.
Have not heard much about feral hogs in this country. Supposedly some came down from Canada on the north west corner and a few have showed up in the Dakotas and Idaho. We got enough problems with wolves and coyotes. But, they might have problems getting started, More diamonds in Montana than ranchers that don't have a gun handy.

150 pounder is my favorite, small enough to handle and tastes great. Taste just like what I get at the grocery. Have overloaded myself with work taking them more than one at a time before.

Our local game processer will only accept hogs from the beginning of deer season (November) until late Spring. On larger hogs he'll cut a small piece of meat off the hog and put it in his microwave - if it stinks to high heaven, he won't process it. He's turned down a few of mine, thankfully. If I "process" it myself, I only remove the backstraps - the rest goes to my dump area - Pork Chop Hill.

I load mine with a high-protein wildlife mix. I haven’t really checked the analysis. It has a little corn to help palatability for the deer and what looks like some alfalfa pellets and other stuff.
404 Page-300-lb-silo-vp-feeder#repChildCatid=3637755
I see the link didn’t work. It’s the Game Winner 300 lb silo feeder.
It works pretty well. After five months of 2x per day feedings, the battery is still going strong. I installed a solar unit but won’t wire it to the battery till I find something better than the cheesy alligator clips it came with. I expect those to come loose the first time a hog bumps it.
It spins 5 seconds 2x per day. I go through about 100 lbs per month.

That's a mid sized Moultrie loaded with corn. I've tried the protein/flavored/scented pellets but IMHO nothing works better than corn in summer and fall; winter and spring would be the time for protein I believe but I haven't gone that route yet.
I've got the Moultrie 6V rechargable batteries and they last almost a year, running just after sunrise and just before sunset for a few seconds each.

Interesting tip on the microwave deal. I am sure that they are more of a pain than they are worth. Yet, it must be nice to have such a sport resource and meat animal in the area.

That's what I do with armadillos now. Got tired of dragging them to the ditch for the buzzards, then the buzzards dragging them back in my yard to feast on them.
Use to be a show on TV about people getting paid by home owners, and golf courses to kill wild hogs. It looked like someone plowed up the area they rooted in.

Will those feeders dispense peanuts? Peanuts are the one thing the deer around here will eat consistently.

If hogs could drive cars and shoot guns we would be in trouble.

Shelled peanuts - maybe, if they are not bigger than a kernel of corn. My feeders will sometimes get clogged up with just a small piece of corn husk that didn't get screened out before packaging.

You might want to re-think that.
Are you familiar with the term “multiply like rabbits”?
Feral hogs are like rabbits, except at the top of the food chain, destructive, aggressive, and grow to hundreds of pounds.

You are right Skeet but at least you get a decent piece of meat instead if the boot leather they sell in the big chain grocery stores and call it steak. Even the hamburger is tough!!

There's been several times that I've been sitting in my deer blind waiting for the feeder to go off and not seeing anything all day long. Then, when the timer turns on the feeder for it's seven second run, hogs come out of the brush on a dead run. Within a few minutes every kernel of corn is gone. Nothing left for the other animals. If a sow is in heat, you can bet there is a dangerous boar very close by, and they can / will kill you. They'll kill and eat anything.

Update:
Spot is still at large.
I went with a 12 gauge w/buckshot and walked thru all the low wet areas hoping to spook her and get a fatal shot off but all I found was mud and mosquito swarms.
