I'm married to a woman that doesn't/won't eat any animals. To make matters weirder, she grew up on a farm. Here in AZ we shoot a lot of pigs that aren't pigs at all. Their Javelinas which are collared Peccary.
The Mrs. Rules?? Go shoot pigs, Elk deer and bears, just don't bring 'em home.
This is a problem.

Murf...I have mentioned to my wife that even the hamburger can be tough. It seems the people that raise the critters can't make as much money if they have to finish them up in the correct way...,and I see a LOT of advertising about natural grass fed beef which usually equates with the word TOUGH....and the stores have very high prices on the stuff. At least the price of hamburger has come down a little. Price of corn is still down...I may have to buy a bit more..Father in law taught me...yeller in the front till it's yeller at the back to make tender beef. Hey y'all know one thing deer really like and makes 'em taste real good is sweet taters. Them down state New Jersey boys used to use them a lot.....bet that would work good for ol Spot too

The feral hog problem is as bad as the feral "protestor" problem in some places. The amount of damage done by both is staggering. There is a reason that some locales have no limit hunting of feral hogs - they are invasive pests that destroy everything around them - habitat for other animals, farm land, you name it.

DougM. You are absolutely correct. The first time I saw where a sounder of feral hogs had been a field, it looked like an 18 wheeler w/trailer got stuck and a wrecker had to retrieve it. I was amazed. It wasn't a freshly planted or plowed field but a pasture!. The food plots that my friends at their hunting club were decimated, all 20 of them in 2 nights-at quite an expense in $ and sweat I might add. As far as the protesters go, I feel real sorrow for the good and decent people of your state, to be held hostage buy criminals and politicians AND news organizations. It is a beautiful place but I'm afraid I would be looking at it in my rear view mirror. I promise you, if the poor guy who got beat unconscious in the Portland news clip was in my state, the chances of the attackers getting shot are VERY good. What a shame, you have my sympathies brother.

Looks like Ms. Piggy is getting careless. She's been coming out just before dark and also on camera in other areas, but always here first. I think tomorrow I'll take up position in the stand over this field about an hour before dark and see what happens.
