Posting pics on here....
How are you all posting full sized images? Last few times I’ve posted pics I’ve just had the little thumb nail pic pop up and post.

From desktop:
Once you have the thumbnail attached, preview your post.
Click on the thumbnail to open the picture.
Right-click on picture and copy image address.
Close picture again (back arrow).
Put cursor where you want the picture to be in your post, in the text box.
Then click on the picture icon above the text window and paste the image address into the window that pops up. Click ok.
Click preview post again. The photo should appear in the post where you want it. Repeat if there are more pictures. If needed, just cut and paste the whole picture code within the text box to move the pictures around.
Easier and faster to do than this sounds
How to do this from a mobile device without mouse depends, but can be done.

I have an image hosting site.
All I do is copy the url of the pic and put it between these.

I can post it as big as I want, but the site will resize it if I post it too big. Even then if you click the picture it will open in another window full size.

I post most of mine straight from my Iphone photos using Tap- A- Talk App.
I just copy the photo and paste it into the post. In fact that is so easy I sometime write a post on my laptop then switch over Tap- A-Talk and post the pics. It saves having to use an image hosting site. I hope that helps.
Tap-A Talk App is the key.

With today’s systems, specificity helps
I do it equally easily from the i-phone. I remember trying Tapatalk some time ago and not liking the app, although I can’t remember why.
On the i-phone tap the thumbnail in Preview and choose “copy” from the pop-up menu, then proceed as above. No idea about Android systems.

That's fine until the hosting site goes belly up. Then all of your pictures are dead links that don't go anywhere and don't show anything.

I don't see them going anywhere. They started as a family business working out of their house in 2002. They bought Flicker two years ago.

I hate image posting sites. Third party linked photos are always, without fail, temporary. Sign up, post your pictures, link to threads and as soon as you cancel out of your service, all the images disappear. I do a lot of research and nothing bothers me more than finding a great old post and the pictures are gone. Say what you want, you will eventually end your association with these image hosting sites. The latest purge here occurred when one major hosting site changed their terms and conditions. Many members here cancelled their subscriptions and/or moved their images and all photos are gone forever.
The method above actually uploads your images to this Forum and will hopefully assure they will be available as long as the S&W Forum is around.

Gary sums it up very well.
There are some great old picture threads here going back to the 2000s, and when you scroll through, the majority of photos are just the former hosting site’s logo.
And the hosting service doesn’t have to be the problem. People’s priorities change, hobbies fade, albums get rearranged. Some folks actually take down their picture albums when they sell a gun. Not to mention the elephant in the room: We’re on average an old bunch, folks cross to the other side, and conscientious heirs clean out such stuff.
So you should treat pictures in posts like photos you publish in a professional journal. Once they’re published, they should stay there. Attaching them directly is the only surefire way to accomplish that.
