Default Wow............ Hot !!

Everyone be safe out there.

I was reading the threads and took my first sip of coffee......

Just about , burnt my mouth and tongue.

Either the pot brewed a hotter cup or I might have rushed that first sip, today?

Hope you all have a great day.
Later.

I thought this was going to be a post about the weather .
Two things that should be tested slowly are coffee and pizza.

I get the **** burned out of me every time I use the camp stove percolator. I keep forgetting its 30+ degrees hotter than drip coffee.

The last food that burned me was a Pop Tart. I hardly ever eat those things and for some stupid reason I thought it sounded good, That frosting is dangerous. It left a blister.

I think I have the ultimate story here. One day I was making one of my turkey and poached egg breakfast sandwiches. I use my vintage microwave oven to poach the egg. Sometimes the egg forms some gas pockets in it. One day I poached the egg, put the sandwich together and chowed down. The next thing I know my teeth hit a gas pocket in the poached egg and the sandwich went off in my mouth. Luckily I didn't see anybody for 3 days or so and my mouth healed up without any scarring. Now when I make one of those sandwiches the poached egg gets crosscuts with an Old Hickory knife to deflate any gas pockets in the egg (and I've hit a few).

I drove city bus for twenty seven years, my first year back in '73 I had stopped at the local V.A. Hospital, we used to have about a fifteen minute layover if you played your cards right. We were allowed to go into the small P.X. and Canteen. We were allowed to buy two packs of smokes or a can of snoose in the P.X. without tax..back then about .25 a pack. I stopped into the Canteen and they had a vending machine with Hostess fruit pies, etc. as well as another machine that sold milk, etc. I bought a Hostess cherry fruit pie and 2 half pints of milk. I had never used a micro-wave before and had watched a guy heat up a sandwich. I went over to the other machine, put my cherry pie in wrapper and all. Closed the door and looked at the options 1: rolls, pies, etc. 2: Sandwiches 3: Soups
I hit 1 and the light went on for one minute, it dinged, I took out the pie and it was barely warm...I stuck it back in and hit 1 again, it dinged, I took it out and dang it just wasn't nice and hot...Stuck it back in, hit 1 and waited and when it dinged and I took it out it finally was nice and hot. I walked back out the bus, opened the door, got behind the wheel, set the milks down and peeled the pie out of its wrapper...Oh Yeah, nice and hot. I took a fairly good sized bite and was met with molten lava squirting across the roof of my mouth, I set the pie down and grabbed the first milk and literally tore the thing open like pulling the pin on a grenade with your teeth and poured the cold milk into my mouth, followed by the second. There was a mess for me to clean up, I got it all under control and pulled back out to finish my shift a couple hours later. Yeah I was sore for a while, I had a blister from gum line to gum line, made it difficult to talk...lesson learned. AH BUNNED A RRF A MA MOUT!

I couldn't understand why the little knob on the pot lid exploded in the microwave until I picked up the pieces and realized Bakelite goes nuclear.

My Wife and I LOVE our morning coffee and it MUST BE piping hot! I'd rather wait a minute before sipping than be relegated to drinking luke-warm "Mr. Coffee" style brew. Blecchhhh!

We use either one of two percolators; either a Stainless Steel Stove Top 12 cup model OR an Presto Electric 12 cup Percolater. Both supply piping hot excellent coffee and we love it - just let it cool for a minute or add a little half & half. In fact I am heading downstairs in about 20 minutes to make a pot.

PS: When I go on my annual week long Hunting trip up to my friends cabin, I always bring my stove top perc. along. He has one of those Bank give-a-way coffee pots that produce weak, luke-warm coffee that needs to go into the microwave before even trying to drink it! Since he's too damned cheap to upgrade, I bring my Perc. along to make proper coffee.
