Kenny, Very good ! I grew up in La Jolla in the 40s & 50s. Swam into those caves many a time a a kid. I think it cost a dime to enter the cave from the shop at the top and we thought we were getting away with something due to our free entry from the ocean ! During WW2 as a Sea Scout i watched for incoming Jap bombers from the top of Mt. Soledad while the anti-aircraft gunners took a nap. Sometimes a Navy plane forgot to identify itself and the gunners got to get in some practice and I got to haul home a lot of 40mm brass! Ed

Ed, you have a few years on me. i was born in 58. i always love to hear about the way thing were from those older than myself. we could swap stories for hours. i grew up along the Louisiana/texas coast as my Dad was a dredge boat mechanic. when he took a job on the bank I was in the woods or the water from the coast of Louisiana to the very northern parts with my Mothers people on the farm. great pics. thanks, kenny

Ah, yes, Mount Soledad. In my college years, my dates and I spent many pleasant Saturday nights on Mount Soledad, er, admiring the view. Yeah, that's the ticket...we admired the view.

Yep, graduated from Hoover high in 1969 and the "view" from Mt Soledad was enjoyed on many a Saturday night.

Capt Steve, I'm a Hoover grad , class of 47, and yes, my girl friends and i often ejoyed the "view"as it was spectacular. A couple other spots - Mt. Helix (where I live now) and the end of Pt. Loma also had great viewing spots ! KrSmith58, LA is a very scenic state - I have lots of family there going back in time. One of my great uncles was Huey Long's bodyguard. He killed Huey's assassain, but not quick enough ! Ed

Went to my 50th reunion last September, we had 200 out of class of 849 show up... what a hoot. Even ran into a gal who used to enjoy the view as well.

Capt Steve, We had to combine class of 47 with class of 48 to get enough attendees to cover the minimum at the Balli-Hai on Shelter island. Lots of wheel chairs, also ! But still a blast if you can remember names! One old gal friend is left. She only has one leg but still rides her Harley ! The Hoover we knew was torn down several yrs ago as it did not meet earthquake standards - the new one looks like a prison! Ed .

Benchrest1, did you get to see Bill Walton play when you were at Helix?
Wow, Capt Steve, opoefc, and Benchrest1, a bunch of San Diego guys are on here today. I'm Lincoln '61 myself. Just like Hoover (and San Diego High), Lincoln was razed to the ground and replaced for seismic safety reasons around 10 years ago.

Yes I saw Bill play a lot. My ex wife's brother was very good friends with Bill and played on his team at Helix.
