Movie so VERY bad, it was good
TCM had Plan 9 from Outer Space on the other night so on a whim, I recorded it. Once voted the worst movie ever made, it has assended to cult status and is actually so bad it is good. I have not laughed so hard at a movie for a long time. If you can find it, definitely take a look,,,, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I once watched Mystery Science Theater 3000 do the voice overs to Plan 9.
My diaphragm almost fell out from laughing.

The sci-fi genre has brought us some real zingers over the years. Two of my favorite "so bad they're great" movies are "Battle Beyond the Stars" and "Wing Commander".
If you want "bad and it stinks no matter what", try "Galaxina".

My favorite part is where the detective scratches his head with his Smith and Wesson!

With his finger on the trigger. That there is a Barney moment.

Yeah, he swings that gun around everywhere, pointing at people, rubbing his shoulder, all while his finger is on the trigger. When they do shoot the guns, they must be cap guns, the sound is so low.

Battle Beyond the Stars has some appeal. John Boy Walton as an adventure hero is interesting enough. you can almost hear Earl Hamner narrating it. The Valkyrie is interesting too.

Got to love a movie with Sybil Danning in it.
The Andy Sidaris movie Malibu Express is a good example especially of a bad so that it is good.

I retired from the Coast Guard in 1991, two videos, on Beta, always got shown in the chiefs mess when the ship was underway; The Wraith and Lair of the White Worm. Both always had all the chiefs laughing.
I love the old westerns, the bad guys being chased by the posse at full gallop, firing six guns dozens of times.

The best bad movie of all time is Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.
A Møøse once bit my sister... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink"...

My favorite terrible movie is Howard the Duck.
It is so completely stupid and horrible, that it surpasses both, and becomes good.
I am unsure of the science there, but it checks out.

I actually like The Wraith. I've seen it a few times (voluntarily... ). Cheesy fun. Plus I thought the car was cool.

The "Detective" (Inspector Clay) with the flashlight is Tor Johnson. He was a Swedish wrestler, and played in many of the horror flicks and B-movies of the 1950s. You might have noticed that Bela Lugosi was also in the cast. He died early during filming, and Ed Wood's dentist filled in for him, he was the guy who covered his face with a cape.
Plan 9 From Outer Space is not actually that bad compared to some of today's movie dreck you see on Netflix.

"Plan 9" was by the horrible genius Ed Wood.
Everything he did was horrible as a director/
writer/producer/actor.
Johnny Depp did a movie about him and
Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi won an Oscar.

My all time favorite Science Fiction movie is "Dark Star". It's John Carpenters first, and so low budget it's astounding. I laugh almost all the way through it every time I see it.

When I hear “so bad it’s good”, what always comes to mind is “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”. Yes, it’s supposed to be satire, but it’s such bad satire that it’s funny despite itself

And who could forget the awful "Queen of Outer Space" featuring Zsa Zsa Gabor and a cast of mini-skirted cuties in color and Cinemascope!
About 40 seconds into the video, did you notice what appears to be a holstered gold-plated broomhandle Mauser being carried by one of the astronauts?
(I know, who pays attention to the weapons in this movie?)

I found Galaxina alright. Good comedy movie.
It was a pity Dorothy Stratten got murdered so young by her husband.
And they made a movie about it. "Star 80" Tells her story.

OK so I took your advice.
I consider myself a fan of 50's horror and sci-fi movies and can still picture Billy Bob and Betty Sue sitting (making out) in Daddy's pickup truck at the local Drive-In.
IMO that movie is not so bad it is actually good...it's still pretty bad.
There's worse out there though.
Watched ANGRY RED PLANET the other night, good movie but that guy is swinging a 1911 all over the place!
Even in the 50's Hollywood got it all wrong!

Surf Nazis Must Die
Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD
Tromeo and Juliet

Not surprisingly, the Depp movie about Ed Wood was titled, "Ed Wood". It is a fun movie and I recommend it, and I love the soundtrack.

Some good postings but my vote is for "Trolls 2"-grossed something like $200+ on opening weekend (YES, NOT $2000.00 but $200.00!). The "father" was the town dentist during the day and they had to work around his appointments. The daughter was a local high school student who went on to minor "scream queen roles". Writers and directors spoke no English but spoke Italian so they hired someone to translate for the actors (Screenplay wasn't in English either).
BTW: There was no Trolls 1!
ps: "Troll Hunter" gets an Honorable Mention!

I rather liked this one, despite it being pulled from theaters after opening weekend, at least in my area. Had to look it up, but it took in $124k on a $2 million budget.
I like that The Red Elvises did the soundtrack. Fun band. Blend of surf guitar music and Russian folk music.
I think I read somewhere that, in order to keep their budget down, they got most of their costumes from flea markets and dumpsters.

One of the real policemen (yes!) in "Plan 9" was Carl Johnson, son of Tor Johnson. He said of Ed Wood "He wanted to make movies in the worst way possible and that's exactly how he made them."

Plan 9 From Outer Space was dethroned long ago as the worst movie ever made.
The worst movie of all time is: "MANOS: The Hands Of Fate".
Words cannot even come close to describing this big steam pile made on a budget of probably fifteen cents by a fertilizer salesman from El Paso as part of a bet with legendary screewriter Stirling Silliphant.
A (dis)honorable mention would be Zardoz from 1974. Picture a giant talking head that spits out guns to Shawn Connery, who has a ponytail, a red diaper, and thigh high boots who goes around shooting people that are beggin (literally) to be killed. Only redeem feature of THAT stinker was the fact Connery carried a Webley-Fosberry automatic revolver (albeit empty).

Aha, a kindred spirit. I first saw this movie on a local Cleveland TV show that featured a lot of science fiction movie. As a young boy I liked what I saw so much a few years ago I got a VHS of the movie. And maybe because I own a Broomhandle Mauser I picked up on the gold plated ones that were carried as "ray guns."

Speaking of Ed Wood. I met his one time film star Dolores Fuller years ago. She has passed away since then. I never took her up on her offer to go to her place & see all her memorabilia.
I did also meet the great Ray Dennis Steckler & knew him for a number of years. He too has passed on. He knew all the exploitation players back in the 60's and he made some so bad it's good films. His most famous was 'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living & Became Mixed Up Zombies'.

“Billy the Kid versus Dracula” was a ridiculously bad movie.
Many of the movies produced by American International Pictures were pretty bad. The company that brought you “Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs” and “Blacula”.
I’m still waiting for the 90 minutes of my life back that I squandered sitting thru “Kuffs” in 1992.

...that's so bad it's really bad? Watch "Manos, The Hands of Fate"
I love watching Ed Wood movies. Glen or Glenda, Jail Bait. In fact, I've got a boxed set in pink angora.
'Ed Wood' with Johnny Depp and Martin Landau was a really good movie.
