Default A cause for celebration!

Last night sometime, while I was sleeping, my last infraction expired. I feel so liberated! With God’s will I’ll hopefully live a cleaner life, paying more attention to what area I am in so I don’t inadvertently post feloniously, extraneous messages in the classifieds or make seemingly innocuous comments that apparently are not.

Anybody else recently discharge from forum parole? Since the recidivism rate here is so high, perhaps we should have a support group for us repeat offenders.

I think I’ll treat myself to 2 gun shows today!

Cheers!

During my life time, I have come to a realization of three undeniable truths.
One: Don't eat gas station sushi.
Two: Never date a girl whose father is covered in prison tattoos.
And three: Don't go against Forum rules.

Pretty simple if you think about it.

Like my 20th century driving record, I’m on page 4. I got my 1st “3 point bonus 3 day vacation” a couple months back. I’m off parole Feb 1. The rules keep the **** off the sidewalk, even if I have trouble following them. Joe

Did you get your infraction for sarcasm or melodrama? I too got busted for making extraneous comments on a classified ad posting - although I didn't realize it was a WTB listing because I accessed it via the "New Posts" link on the top of the page. I was just trying to give the guy advice where to buy the magazines he was looking for, but the next thing you know the jailer man and Sailor Sam came and took me away...

Now that I'm a convicted forum offender does this mean I can't vote in any more opinion polls?

Same here. Just trying to help someone and didn’t realize it was in the classifieds - a few times. Not meant to be sarcastic or melodramatic, just a someone with ADD hoping to show other serial offenders there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

I have a friend who has run afoul of the rules for posting in the wrong place on occasion: an incorrigible scofflaw of course.

He/she (friend wants to remain anonymous) doesn’t know whether he/she is on probation, parole or is free and clear and doesn’t know how to find out.

Asking for a friend.

In my relative "youth" when the forum changed the rules on adult content and certain topics, I was a frequent offender. Having mellowed with age and enjoying the conversation here, I think that I am reformed. At my age, any suspension could end up being permanent.

I have got one until early next year. The last ones were two one from 2014 and then one in 2011. I view infractions as being as much a reminder: think twice and choose wisely before you post.

Well, I have found that bring up political figures works well

Also although you think someone is a nitwit and know your right. But, you can't actually say so without getting some detention time.

Hmm, if I would have learned to keep my mouth shut sooner I would have gone up the food chain faster at work too. But, finally I got a boss that didn't mind hearing the truth. LOL

Apparently I have a 2 pointer active until December. "Very inflammatory post." I don't even recall what I said but somebody found it very inflammatory...apparently. I'm pretty sure I wasn't trying to be inflammatory.

In the past I got 2 infractions for posting ads in the wrong forum. Seems harsh for a mistake. It's not like I meant to put items in the wrong area. Really warrants an infraction? Apparently so as it happened to me twice.

But the good news is I haven't had a speeding ticket since 2006.

Wow - I just found out I have an infraction that doesn’t expire until April 2021 for putting a comment in the classifieds - I complimented someone on a pair of grips they made and were selling there. Shame on me.
But it appears I’m in good company.

It's super easy to get an infraction. Super easy to not get one too thou.

I was honestly surprised for the reasons I got mine.

Was really surprised when I got a 5 or 7 day stay in the S&W slammer. Was gonna blow the whole place up with the C4 I snuck in , but Rusty talked me out of it.

A couple of years ago, I did hard time for “Wrong Forum or Cross Posting”..... I am glad to say that since then, I have tried to remain clean.... I even speak at local schools to help young kids make good choices. We all deserve a second chance. Welcome back brother!

If I see something in the classifieds that I like, but can't afford, or already have one of so am not going to buy I simply give it a like.

Waking up to a PM from the boss isn't likely be a good thing.

I don't think I have gotten a single "Gold Star"

This thread is hilarious! Many of us have crashed into the rules at one time or another. Some of us have lost our cool or ranted about prohibited topics. Best to take our lumps, learn and move on. The Active Ding System keep this place a great forum. It would be helpful if you guys described the details of your violation here - without repeating the offense of course. Might help the rest of us stay out of the principal's office; or not....

In my case, I can't seem to get it in my thick noggin, that editing a classified to "withdrawn" is sufficient. Nooooo..... I can't resist adding a final message. That bumps to the top so I get dinged for "too many bumps per day." One time, I edited a bump and got dinged. Hah! You'd think I could learn. The rules aren't complicated, but they may not be intuitive. It's just the cost of doing business. The rules and moderators make this place great.

My favorite is when a "sketchy thread" is rolling along nicely and my 27th post basically agrees with what has been said. Then # 39 comes along, ****'s the bed and everybody gets a point. Usually you get one of "misswired's mystery messages" in your PM inbox next time you log in. Big fun. Joe

I just got out of jail 6:00pm PST on Saturday. I was sitting with two infractions then blew it with what I thought was an interesting post in the lounge...OOPS
My wife has been after me forever to edit my posts before hitting the submit button....not my style. She's got her major in Editing for Publication and is not at all surprised when I get into trouble.
There always seem to be those little inequalities in life but in the end I'd rather be me all day than somebody else for sixty seconds.
On the positive side, if your always working with a couple of infractions it does tend to keep you honest. On the same manner of driving on the point system, I remember how careful I got when I was sitting with 200. I didn't so much as chirp a tire in second gear because that could get me sent back to bad driving school. For those of you that went there, remember who was there when you walked in the door?

Gettin' out of jail is always a great feeling. I always vow to go straight and be a good boy and hope I don't stub my toe again. I'm clear at the moment. Did my time and completed my probation and rehabilitation. My last conviction was in September of 2019.

I just looked back at my history and it seems that I have a modest rap-sheet. A total of 5 convictions. All inadvertent. All unintentional. But It was on me every time. Just failed to be familiar with the rules and aware of what I was posting.

I'm reformed now I te'ya.

Do we need a support group for "ex-cons?"

Jack, like you I have only incurred 5 points during my time here. The last one expired a year and a half ago. I earned them all as I clearly broke the rules that I had agreed to abide by. Each ding was explained clearly to me.

Every month, or so, I read the Rules and TOS again to make sure I don't slip up again. I have never been sent to the Sin Bin and I don't ever want to be.

As for a support group:

Well dang, I just checked and saw that I got dinged earlier this year. Broke a 15 year streak of clean living. Glad mom didn't learn of it, I'd of got a whoppin.

From Krogen " It would be helpful if you guys described the details of your violation here - without repeating the offense of course. Might help the rest of us stay out of the principal's office; or not...."

Of my 5 citations 3 were for mentioning banned topics. I felt at the time like my references were oblique and not direct mention of any banned topic. But the boss patiently explained to me that my comments could lead to direct discussion and there fore, controversy. He is absolutely correct. Lesson learned. Bottom line, make NO reference, direct or oblique to any banned topic. period. I got it...

One was for creative spelling. This one happened because a found a thing I wrote up years ago and posted in the forum. Creative spelling was permitted on the sight I originally posted it on and I just plugged it in and put it up in here. Now, when I post one of my old stories I go over it carefully and clean it up as needed. One more time, lesson learned.

One of my dings just said "private" with no details or explanation. Of all 5 of my citations I have only received 1 point for 1 infraction.

Any way I am more focused on behaving myself in here than any other social media I have ever been part of. And I would like to say that I whole heartedly approve of and support ALL of these rules. The results of these rules being so fairly and evenly managed is a very happy membership and a place that it feels good to spend some time. Very relaxing and enjoyable and informative Cyber family.

We've all seen places on the web that were like verbal slaughter houses. Populate with every kind of undesirable you can think of. The reason we have it so good here is because of these rules. This is not just some short term social experiment. After all the years of it's history this sight has been the success story of the internet. At least that's my thought on the subject.

Anybody else recently discharge from forum parole? Since the recidivism rate here is so high, perhaps we should have a support group for us repeat offenders.

I think I’ll treat myself to 2 gun shows today!

Cheers!

Sometimes I deploy my mouth before I engage my brain. Not only here either...

I tell people I've got a mild case of O.L.D. and it gets a little worse every year.
