Default USPS strikes again!

I ordered some specialty coffee from a company located in a northern suburb of Denver.

I checked the tracking with the post office today and discovered that, instead of delivering it, the post office decided that my coffee would like a tour of Colorado.

Initially, the postal folks sent the package to the Denver distribution center (sop) and then to my suburban Post office.

Instead of delivering the coffee, the postal guys decided that the coffee needed a tour, so sent it back to the northern suburb distribution center which then sent it to a distribution center in a city far north of Denver.

The northern city distribution center then sent it BACK to the Denver distribution center. Who knows where they’ll send it next.

If they’d delivered it when it was in my local post office, I’d have received it 4 days ago.

Good thing I have other coffee on hand.

That will teach you to put on airs, and not drink good old store bought coffee like normal folk do. Remember "it's good to the last drop."

Doesn't do any good to complain to the Post Office. An email to the vendor, if it doesn't show up soon, might prompt a second order being shipped.

I just got my refund from the seller for the owner's manual that never arrived.

I have zero faith in the USPS anymore.

Give me the old days when Tom, the "mailman," would ring up to my grandparents and call out: "Mrs. X, I have mail for Mr. X." This was the signal for my grandma to haul out the bottle of Four Roses for Tom to come up and have a couple of shots. He would sit and chat for 10 minutes. My grandpa would get business mail at his home, something frowned upon by the powers-that-were, thus the whiskey a couple of times a year.

The post office hates when I get $. When I left 2 agencies, each mailed a substantial severance check for unused leave and OT pay both times. And each time, the typed address envelope went to another apt. in the bldg. (And, of course, somebody opened both envelopes.)

A check sent by NYS in that "tear both edges" envelope was destroyed in transit, but USPS did not enclose it in that special plastic bag designed for such an occurrence. Only 2 pieces of that mailpiece arrived: the address on a torn off scrap of paper, and the exposed check. Undamaged... Just closed an account in a NYC bank. A large sum, the bank sent it 1st Class. It never arrived. Took 5 weeks to get a replacement, this time sent Priority Mail.

Was going to vote by mail. Not no more, Billy.

Default Okay, I'll pile on

Ah, yes. USPS.

The last two "items" I won on GunBroker came by USPS.

Both went through Denver -- 400 miles southeast of my lgs.

The first came from California, got to Denver, then went on a three-day excursion to Portland.

The second one got to Casper -- 140 miles east, then went on a three-day tour of Cody -- 130 miles north, before finally landing at the lgs.

Our local "contract" letter carrier is up on federal charges for "disposing" of our town's entire delivery of the County League of Women Voters' booklet that describes every local candidate running for office this year. Workers at the nearby state historic site found them in the garbage can in the men's room.

Exasperating

Default I can pile on too!

^^^^what he said. That's some story, Bob. Here in Clark County, reside some 2.2 million people. I went to the G.P.O. on Sunset (LVSteve will be familiar with this) to file my passport renewal. There were 2 windows open. That's it. Two. For 2 million people. You can't make this stuff up.

Last year, the supervisors at the local station, with their ultimate lack of wisdom, changed all the routes. So our regular guy, who I knew almost 10 years is gone and has been supplanted by anybody else as an add-on to their regular route. Mail that used to come by 11AM now arrives at 5PM, and the carriers are grouchy because they've been dumped on. Almost forgot: that regular guy would look out for me. If my mail would pile up for 3 days, he would bring it to my door to see if I was alright.

Oh, my! Those days are long gone here, too. There are about 30 year-round residents in my tiny, dirt-streeted town. We're 30 miles from gas, groceries, and the post office. Our letter carrier doesn't even know where any of us live. We have one of those aluminum 1980s yuppie mailbox contraptions in the center of town.

"2.2 million people"? Yikes!! We have about 580,000 folks in our whole state, and it's the 10th largest state.

Certainly wont top any of the above stories but last year I was waiting for a package. You could time the mailman's delivery schedule within 30 minutes either way. It was summer time so I sat outside my garage waiting for his arrival.

Soon enough I see the postal vehicle come up the street but it doesn't stop at my house. I hop in my truck to race down to the next dropbox but the mailman is nowhere to be found. I go to my mailbox thinking that the package was put inside but instead found a receipt saying "unable to deliver...signature required".

First of all the receipt is normally put on the customer's door. Secondly I was sitting in my driveway as he drove by. Filing a complaint at the post office never made it past the snotty clerk at the counter. I requested to hold the package and I would pick it up the next day.

My issues with the post office are few and far in between. I regularly get other peoples mail in my box and I'm sure my mail gets mishandled but it's usually when the regular driver is off. I'm about 60% paperless with my bills so hopefully I wont have to deal with the post office much longer.

30 miles out in the middle of nowhere. To me...that sounds like paradise. When my daughter turned 16, her and I drove to Cody, Wyoming. I loved it...absolutely loved it.

I wish I had taken pictures of the clusterfest that took place both before the holidays and during. It wouldn't have consoled anyone's misery but it would have shed some light on what happens behind the scene.

Denver rents out massive warehouse space for sorting mail and whatever else during the holidays. Being in the middle of the Country both inbound and outbound mail is run through this place. There was about 20 bays with trailers backed in. At any given time there are also almost a dozen semis backed up on the roadway waiting to either load up or unload. The drivers are all contract drivers and except for maybe a few postal people the workers are hired off the street.

The operation is done for now but the backlog will linger for some time yet to be known. Some of you are fed up with the way things are. Certainly can't blame it all on the pandemic. Life might be less stressful with better planning on our part. Better yet curtail all activities during this period that involves shipping of any kind.

Rest assured we will be revisiting this rant next year and longer.

I purchased a model 19 cylinder off a member here.
I have every reason to believe he shipped it
The USPS tracking number shows it left CA on 12/20 and then arrived in Columbus ON on the 26th and departed there that afternoon, 12/30 shows "Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility."

I don't understand how something going from CA would end up in OH on its way to MT. I am glad it is for a future project

I ordered a red dot from Cabela's that was on sale. I used my points so it was almost free. It shipped from 140 miles away on Jan. 29. USPS tracking said it was out for delivery on the 30th. It did not arrive. On the 31st the tracking said exception, then on the 2nd of Jan . it said it was delivered. I still didn't have it. Cabela's said wait three more days and if it hasn't shown up by then they will make it right. Yesterday it showed up on my doorstep two days after it was "delivered."

At least I got it.

My 5906 mags went from Illinois to Alaska to finally PA . Shipped 12/22, delivered today 01/05.

I was surprised they showed up. I thought for sure that they were lost.

So there is hope your cylinder will show up.

Eventually.

I ordered a powder scale off of Ebay on Dec. 8th, and the seller shipped it immediately. It got hung up at the Grand rapids facility for three weeks. I contacted the USPS and asked where my package was and they confirmed it was still in Grand Rapids.
They then had the audacity to ask me if I liked the resolution about my inquiry. I texted back that the idiot Postmaster General needs to be fired, the PO needs to be privatized, and I want my order. About 4 days later the powder scale was delivered.
Trained monkeys could do a better job than the PO stupidvisors.

Not the COFFEE !!!

OMG...............

That is worse than lost reloading supplies.

Sure glad that I am stocked up.

I might even end up in a straight jacket, if I ran out for a week.

If the post office is going to lose something I wish it would stay lost if it is a replaceable product. I live 67 mile from Midway and had an order from them disappear. After ten days Midway replaced the order. Then the order showed up. I then had to deal with Midway harassing me to return the replaced order. total PIA.

I agree for the most part, but, my uncle sent my wife and I an anniversary card and it was postmarked December 3rd. We got that card December 26th. Our anniversary was on 12/12. He planned well in advance and it didn't make it even close.

I don't even look at tracking info unless my item is about 10 days late. It gets here when it gets here.
I will say on behalf of USPS, that all my packages over the years have got here, sooner or later.
