2 Houston P.D. officers shot, one killed
It has been a rough year for my old alma-mater, this will make 2 officers and 1 arson investigator killed in the line of duty. The officer killed today was a 41 year veteran Sgt. of HPD and was going to retire very soon. I did not know Sgt. Preston personally, however he must have been "boot leather tough" to still be working the streets with that much seniority. The wounded officer is expected to make a full recovery.
It was a domestic violence call and the shooter, an illegal alien, was shot and expected to live. He is in custody with a gunshot wound to his arm. We have a " progressive" D.A. and it will interesting to see how she charges this scum bag. Harris County has one of the sorriest criminal justice systems in Texas.
Prayers for the officers and families involved. It is open season with no bag limit now and I pray for the safety of all officers who go in harms way each shift.
Thankfully our mayor has no plans to defund the department, but our chief Avacado is an idiot.

Anti gun Police chief

Like what you did there with Acevedo's name. Serious anti gun cop, last domestic violence killing of a Houston police officer and he got on his anti gun anti NRA rant for 5 minutes and hardly talked about the officer at all.

Prayers for the family of SGT Preston. Texas and this nataion is a little less great today after the loss of such a man......at the hands of a convicted illegal alien that the city leaders, Including Chief Avacado, support with their 'sanctuary city" nonsense.

From what I heard earlier, the guy was arrested prior to the incident with a loaded gun. Charges were refused by the DA and the gun with bullets was returned to the miscreant.
Another reason why I'm glad I'm getting out of the game. stuff like this makes one want to retreat to the swamp to live coming out only to barter for scotch.

Sgt. H.L. Preston was a top hand and a fine man.
Huge loss.
He was to retire in two weeks.

Sad. The suspect had a history of violence and other issues.

Too bad it wasn't a brain busting head shot on the perp.
My sincere condolences to the Sgt's family.

Sorry for the loss to all of US. I am retired, yet I do not feel any way safe from the New Viet Cong nor the collaborators in local government who support this domestic terrorism.

The perp was here illegally in the 90's, got a work permit that expired in the late 90's, got busted and convicted in 2000, but walked on immigration status. Sanctuary city insanity has been going on for a long time and we are awash in it. Legal naturalized immigrants who fought through the naturalization process must feel like suckers. I get the argument that most un-documented residents are non-violent, maybe less than legal residents, but that doesn't excuse a court system that waltzed this guy through. I just don't understand prosecutors that turn people loose because they think they're too busy with more serious crimes. Officer Preston's family should wonder why Harris County prosecutors let this guy wander around in our society 15 years ago.

First, prayers to his family.
Now-can you link a story to where our DA released him before this incident, or is it inside info from lawyer to lawyer. Have heard nothing on the news about this-but it does not mean it did not happen, news and DA here are both not pro police.
