Ammunition "shortage"
In light of the current conundrum concerning the price and availability of ammo and reloading components, I have resurrected and pumped up the old Benjamin Marauder PCP pellet rifle. Pellets are still available, 1250 for approx. $30.00.
What could be more fun? (other than the required hand pumping of 2500 pounds of air into the cylinder)
I'm posting this as sort of a Public Service Announcement to all creatures labelled "vermin" who happen to be passing through my neighborhood, or who may be nearby residents.

I have a Sheraton BlueStreak 5 mm air rifle. I got it maybe 40 years ago and still shoots fine. Full power is about eight pumps and it hits very hard. Had some problems finding pellets for it a while back until I figured out that 20 caliber was the same thing. Don’t shoot much anymore. pumping it up is not as easy as it was when I was younger. Times get hard it would supply me with a fried Squirrel dinner

Thankfully I used my instinct & judgement after multiple previous ammo and component "shortages" and got what I needed at reasonable prices when they were readily available. I still go to the Range ("business as usual") on a weekly basis with no worries about running out.
What I fear is that this time it may not go away so quickly - if at all.

It's a good way to get your shooting fix with those pump-ups. But be prepared for a sore arm for the next few days. *s*

Concerning the topic, someone posted the following:
(Begin quote)
I was in my local Cabelas yesterday and chatting with some of the employees.
Cabelas appears to be getting fairly regular shipments of ammo and reloading supplies, albeit diminished quantities.
Due to the ammo crises, my Cabelas limits what any one person can buy at a time. They are trying to give more a chance at some.
Come to find out, according to the employees, some local Gun and Pawn places have it down to a science how to corner the market.
They have a pretty good idea when the shipments come in, and station wives, girlfriends, grandparents, friends, etc out to watch for the trucks.
Then they are sending in the aforementioned people and buying their ration, then changing coats, getting another, calling the store to have their friends come down to buy up the ammo and supplies and then double and triple the price in their pawnshops.
According to the emplyees this tactic, unfortunately, ends up cleaning out the store ration in a couple hours. Especially any primers, powder and bullets.
(End quote)

I have a cartridge factory. Plenty of components and plenty of time. And it is tuned to my firearms. Due to my physical condition, I will not have the opportunity to "bug out" so I will be "dug in."
