Default Daisy and the postman

I found a package the postman delivered earlier that was too big for the mailbox and had been left on our porch. Apparently someone chewed off a corner of the box to see what was inside. 8 month old Daisy said she doesn’t know who did it.

What concerns me the most is that she usually barks at strangers, but this year we've done more of our shopping on line and the postman has dropped off so many packages at the house she doesn't consider him a stranger.

Look at that face! No way it was her.
Your postman needs to stop chewing on your pacakages. Unless it was the Amazon delivery guy. Probably the Amazon guy.

Trying to help you out. Probably seen you trying to get another package open. I got one yesterday that took some serious knife fighting moves to get open. Would have helped it the dogs had chewed the corners off.

Most normal dogs quit barking at people they see on a regular basis but will always bark at someone they don't know.

Maybe the postman has "charmed" your dog into being a friend? A few dog treats can go a long way. Since she had gotten one treat, she thought it just might be a whole box of them!

My current dog, like many , can tell by the sounds what vehicle has turned into the driveway. She has pretty much stopped barking at the usual UPS and Fedex trucks; consequently, we occasionally have packages left out in the rain before we find them.

Our former dog, Buddy, must have been mistreated in the past by a UPS driver. He didn't alert at FedEx, but always halted any UPS drivers at the property line until we rescued them. Postal workers were OK with him except for one fraidycat carrier who would sneak around the house from the rear, with his spray can out. Buddy would bark once at him and then sit and watch him go into high alert mode. I'd swear the dog was laughing at him.

Nope, no termites.

I've actually considered some type of drop box. I have the spot for it, I will just have to come up with something that is approved by the "decor committee" of one, Mrs. Faulkner.

Explain to the committee how much of the "decor" will be messed up if you have to personally deal with a porch pirate.

Tell that to the dog that lives across the road from me. For about 5 years now, that dog comes over to my place to bark at me.

Dang dog stands off 30 feet, and barks. It will bark at me for 30 minutes if I'm outside working.

If I acknowledge it in any way, it runs off back home.

I don't even know the dog's name. I call it ChickenShirt.

Not that it matters, the dog won't get within 20 feet of me.

There was a dog a bit like that one place I lived as a teenager. Turned out the dog was lonely. If you walked up to the gate he was mongo pleased for the company.

One of our neighbors at our lake place has one like that. Some kind of full size boxer. Dumb as a post.

We've been neighbors with them for 3 years and no matter where we are on the property the damned dog will just stand at the fence and bark and bark and bark at us. I swear that stupid mutt would stand there and bark for a week straight without stopping if we were outside on the property that long.

The only thing that stops her barking is for the neighbor to take her inside. He can scold her and she'll stop - for about two minutes and then she's right back to it.

Personally I couldn't stand owning a mutt that was that freaking stupid. Let's just say she's lucky we like her masters. Otherwise I'd be really tempted to put her out of everyone's misery.

We've had Mattie nearly 6 years and she still barks at me nearly every time I come home. But I will say she is not normal.
My wife got her from one of the animal adoption deals and they told her Mattie spent her first 6 months in a cage.
