Default Goodbye cruel world...

Brad lived in California and was a lifelong environmentalist. He was sick of the world; of Covid-19, Brexit, Russian belligerence, China, global warming, ethnic tensions, and the rest of the disturbing stories that occupy media headlines.

Brad drove his car into his garage and then sealed every doorway and window as best he could. He got back into his car and wound down all the windows, selected his favorite radio station, started the car and revved it to a slow idle.

Two days later, a worried neighbor peered through his garage window and saw him in the car. She notified the emergency services and they broke in, pulling Brad from the car. A little sip of water and, surprisingly, he was in perfect condition, but his Tesla had a dead battery.

Just the other day a YouTube Blogger shot some video of a Bowlus Trailer down at a Texas State Park.
I never even heard a Bowlus, it’s a super expensive all Aluminum rig.
The one in the YouTube was being pulled by a Prius!

Kinda like the guy who wanted to end it all: he blew out the pilots on the stove and turned on all the burners. Then, he changed his mind after a while, turned off the burners, sat down at the table to think about it when he lit a cigarette...

I worked with a guy bragged about his failure to kill himself. His first day at work, too!

He tried to kill himself with the running-car-in-the-closed-garage bit. When he passed out, he slumped over and hit the garage door opener. He said he woke up to the sound of his neighbors trying to wake him up! Why he would proudly tell anyone that story is beyond me.

By lunch time on his first day, we all realized that guy was was a freak. He creeped me out.

For some reason this reminds of the scene in the movie "Office Space" where the guy tries to kill himself this way but changes his mind when his wife interrupts him. He pretends he was just having trouble with the shifter, backs out into the street, and gets T-boned by a drunk driver.

This story may be posted here to be humorous, but several years ago as a younger firefighter/paramedic I did respond to an actual attempted suicide that was very similar to this. The only differences (other than it being in Florida, of course) was that the patient was female and the car was a Honda.

The results were exactly the same, however. When a deputy asked me why I thought her attempt wasn't successful, I pointed to the labels on the back of the car. Fancy chrome letters spelled out "ULEV".

"What does that mean?" asked the deputy.

"Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle." I replied.

My first job in High School, a co-worker missed a week of work.
I give him heck for missing work, he stated his mother died
of course I didn't believe him. Rode him hard all day.
Turns out, car in garage with vac hose, eating an apple and
reading a book, she passed. He found her.

In the late 70's my best friend was getting certified in Chrysler K-car emission systems. The entire 2 hour lecture, the speaker wore a gas mask hooked to at exhaust of a K-Car. He said that except for a little noise everything is fine. Since there were active smokers in the room (like 45-50% of the mechanics, the air he was breathing was much cleaner that those breathing room air! In smog filled cities those cars were little vacuum cleaners running around cleaning the environment! (how does that fit in with the global warming crowd?)

Was looking for a parking space in Baton rouge one day and saw what I thought was an open space but turned out to be a charging station for an electric car. Thought briefly about parking there and just putting the extension cord in the gas tank opening of old blue but decided that in the long run it would be cheaper to pay the $8 to park than a ticket
I mean WHO has an electric car on Baton Rouge for cryin' out loud

Much of the price must be the hundreds of hours spent polishing it before it leaves the factory. Do they do telescope mirrors as well? Imagine catching the reflection off that on a sunny day. Maybe there's a small label on it that says "Sponsored by Ray-Ban".
