Default I Think That The USPS Logjam Is Starting To Break

I got a surprise earlier this week. A case of Tim Horton's K-cups I ordered well before Christmas showed up this week. I had already gotten a refund from Amazon, so Merry belated Christmas to me

Also some catalogs that were meant to arrive before Christmas also showed up.

I also had 2 - 4516 mags I bought off GB disappear in the black hole between the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley Distribution Centers in early December. I filed a request with the USPS, and they came back with "Sorry, we have no idea where your package is ". The seller couldn't have been nicer, and sent 2 replacement mags UPS ground, with the understanding that if the missing mags ever showed up that I would notify him and go from there.

So in light of the recent deliveries I checked the tracking number of the missing mags. Sure enough, they arrived in Lancaster today. So more than likely I will see them this week.

Once I have them I'll contact the seller and pay for them.

I don't care if Amazon sent me a free case of coffee. That's like Jeff Bezos dropping a penny down a storm drain. But I won't screw over a small business owner who went out of his way to make things right.

Anyone else notice this happening?

As a Postal retiree, I am heartbroken at the current state of the system. This was a good news bad news week for me. Got a 586 silhouette I won on GB a day early, got mail delivery at my house for the first time in over a week. Covid has devastated the office my mail comes from. Seven employees quit, and the rest, only about 25per cent are not out sick, meaning a large number of the routes have no one to carry them.

I finally got a small package that Brownell's shipped on 12/7. It finally showed up in my mailbox on 1/8. It spent over 2 weeks in limbo in Pontiac Michigan for some reason.
This past week I also finally received a Christmas card from my niece that was mailed about 60 miles away.
I imagine a lot of folks will still be getting "lost" packages well into the end of February or into March as the postal system finally breaks loose like a stopped up toilet.

What some have been saying all along. Nothing nefarious.

My bank sent me an email saying my snail mail might be delayed. They're wrong. Some of it is AWOL. I've yet to see my December CC bill and I've already spoken with the Electric Lady to pay my dues. They want me to do everything online. Not happening, and that's because I only believe half the stories from our IT guy. If I believed them all I wouldn't be on the forum.

Just this week: I have seen UPS trucks out well after 1900 on weekdays, making stops consistent with delivering mail at street side boxes. I have also several of the soccer mom vans they have obviously rented being loaded more than once a day, driven by persons with USPS jackets and making deliveries. I have even seen deliveries being made on Sunday AM as they try to catch up.

For a while in November and December, I saw lines of 25-30 (so going out the door in our small city's small PO) with only 2 clerks working. During those times, there were people who work in the back coming out and asking if anyone was just there to pick up a package for which they had gotten a notice, in an effort to carry the load better.

It is not just USPS - I have seen FedEx and UPS using additional contractors to pull their trailers. Everyone is over burdened with the COVID home shopping and sick employees.

I have seen UPS/FEDEX drivers using UHAUL and other rented/leased trucks. Still missing several Christmas cards.

The young man who delivers mail to my shop has been working crazy hours since way before the holidays. Everyone I know has been overwhelming the delivery systems! Not sure that people will go back to stores as in the past because they have discovered how easy it is to have things just show up at your door!

Several months ago, I received a that I did not remember ordering. I opened the package and found a " gun book" that I warmed up to real quick but still had no idea if I really ordered it. Upon checking the tracking number I discovered it was shipped in 2018. It is however a really good book

Received a notice of intent to lien from lost mail....with interest. Why does the IRS treat everyone as if they are criminals? Call this number, dialing, answer, :Your wait time will be 30 to 60 minutes. Yes, I can believe that. The check hasn't cleared the bank.

It's improved greatly where I live. I'm a Buck Knife junkie and belong to the Buck Collectors Club (BCCI). Buck gives a great discount to BCCI members so I'm buying stuff almost monthly.

Last month, an order shippied from Buck in Idaho via Priority Mail took 2 weeks, as it was routed through multiple USPS facilities I've not seen in the tracking info before... like a side trip through Reno, NV.

Last week, an order I placed shipped on 1/11 arrived on 1/14... and this time it took a pretty direct route... Post Fall, ID to Spokane, WA Dist. Facility, to San Francisco Dist. Facility, and then to my local PO.

We received a Christmas Card on Saturday. Mailed on 12/12 from Torrington, WY. In Nov. I had one of those Priority packages with all sorts of status messages that took a month to get here. Several times our Delivery lady has been out past 7 PM. We are at the end of the run and usually get service between 2 and 3 PM.
I am certainly glad that the USPS streamlined there operation a few years back.
Must admit that all in all they and the Delivery Services have done a pretty good job considering the increased volumes all have experienced.

I didn't see this thread before I posted mine own. Two separate bullet orders shipped from Texas in January, 11th and 12th. One order has been parked at a distribution center in Texas since January 13th. The other has been in Indiana since January 13th. Both show on tracking as in transit to the next facility but arriving late. If "in transit" means sitting in a trailer at the last facility shown, that would be my guess.

Just might be. My wife has a sweatshirt coming in for the last month/5 weeks. It shows up someplace gets a time stamp and then you check it later in the day and it shows it arriving at 3 different times.(same location.) Then you check it another day and it shows up 1/2 way across the country. Same deal it shows it arriving a bunch of times. Looks like the reporting system should get a award for being the most stupid things the PO does.

With that said!

Something unusual happened this Sat we did not get a pick up or delivery. Road conditions were not a problem. It was not just us I saw a bunch of flags up at many houses along my road.

Now we have a very good delivery person so I'm hoping all is OK. If he had a problem why did some other carrier/supervisor never cover the route? The PO must have some sort of rules to cover this, most people do not mind making a bit more by doing overtime!

I had mail not delivered before unless a major snow/ice storm hits, and we had good weather.

December I sent my car note to BOA not due till Jan 1 but I always want to keep ahead of my bills. I also sent out 3 Christmas cards to my Daughter and Grand kids in Ca. Jan 12 BOA called informing me that my Payment is 10 days over due and that a 13.00 late fee was assessed. I told the Lady that the payment was made and must be lost. I asked that she check my payment history and she would see that there has NEVER been a missed or late payment. BOA would remove the late fee if I made the payment over the phone. I gave her the information and the monies were taken from my account within hours..Friday the 15 my first payment cleared he bank a full MONTH to get 3 states away...
One of the Christmas cards is thill in limbo.

My experience mirrors a lot of the above posts; long delays for some mail, and it's been going on since before Christmas. OTOH, I've sold some items on line recently, and waiting for the payment to arrive has been an exercise in patience, but my mailed packages (USPS flat rate boxes) have made it to their destination generally on time. Why a letter would take 3-4 times as long as a box is beyond me.

Then it went right. PF is just east of the state line, and the Spokane processing center is the main facility on this side of the mountains. It's just off the airport on the west plains, so under most conditions the mail will be on a plane pretty promptly. The only drawback I have seen is that virtually all mail on this side of the state goes through it. Even mailing something here to an address in town goes through there, so what used to be overnight is now two days.

The aforementioned 4516 mags are now in the Scranton Post Office, so with a little luck I'll get them by Friday. When I have them in my hands I'll contact the GB seller and arrange payment.

I really don't think it has gotten any better. A letter mailed to my wife from NJ was mailed on 1/5 it arrived yesterday. Fifteen days for it to get here.

Received the credit card bill today - showed "no payment received", a fee for not paying, and interest on the outstanding balance. Checked with the bank and found the check I mailed 26 Dec didn't clear until 19 Jan!!

Called the card company. They didn't receive the payment until 15 Jan(!). So 26 Dec to 15 Jan to get an envelope from Colorado to Minnesota.

And yes, the card company deleted the fee and interest. Apparently it's happening to quite a few people.

I got a notification yesterday that my shipment was now on its way. Don't know where it hid for two weeks but I am very glad it is moving now.

So I notified the GB seller that the original mags showed up.
I asked how do you want me to pay for them?

He replied that he was glad I finally got them. But he had been reimbursed by the USPS for the missing package. So he said thank you for being honest, enjoy them, no need to pay me again.

I'm happy, he's happy.

Win/win.
