Get over it. There were X million doses available at the onset, but 330,000,000 freaking Americans to vaccinate.
Stay home and keep your mouth closed and the covid will pass you by until you can get a shot. Its nobody's fault. How could you expect the pharmas to manufacture gazillions of the the stuff before it was approved?

They are doing vaccination's here in Florida every day and have been since they became available. They are doing over 65 now and health care workers. My sister has had the first shot and my mother will get hers Wednesday. They are doing them at the VA and other health centers as well as Publix grocery store pharmacies. The guy running our state has done well getting them out as fast as they get here.

Signed up with a local hospital on Saturday, and was told they would get in touch.
Then Publix markets offered appointments this morning online, and I got one for tomorrow at 1pm and another for the booster 4 weeks later.

Got mine at Publix on Sunday. Next one already scheduled four weeks out.
Aren't you glad you don't live in The Villages? They just cancelled over 7,000 appointments.

I got my first of the required two Pfizer shots today. I'm 66; my wife works in healthcare, as I did before I retired 1-1/2 years ago, and she got me an appointment at her facility. Next one is due Feb. 9th.

Geez. I wish the mods would ban COVID as a topic. There’s no productive future in discussing it at any level . . .

Saw a blurb today saying the shot does not protect against the mutant strain. The truth of that is subject to verification. However all respiratory viruses are known for mutating why should this be any different.

I just got notified that I was selected in the lottery for the next available vaccine, which happens to be at 4:32 pm on Thursday. I immediately emailed my doc for advice for someone with my history (immune suppressed, etc) for advice. Did I just win or what!
Aside from any potential medical issues, for which I will await actual professional advice, I have a minor logistical issue. It is a 30 minute snowmobile ride to my truck, then a 45 minute drive to town. Given that it seems advisable to hang out at least a little while to observe for any potential reaction, before getting beyond medical help, and it will be 15° or so by the time I get back to my sled, what the heck to do?? What's more life threatening?
PS - I have lots of gear, am not afraid of the cold if prepared, but don't generally go out after dark

I've posted my opinion of the vaccine which generates much hate and discontent with other members in other threads in other sites which eventually ends with them getting closed.
So I quite voicing my opinion.

Doesn't appear to be a way to negotiate the time. The message was to either show up or decline, in which case you get sent back to the lottery pool. Doc says to take it now due to being high risk. Although I am extremely isolated, it would lower the anxiety about occasionally being around other folks, who around here don't seem to be that safe.

I don’t have an opinion on the vaccine (I know, I know). All I’ve done is describe my 80 year old mother’s positive experience (she got round two just this morning, and no ill effects), and state that since I’m relatively healthy I’m gonna let others jump ahead. I don’t understand why discussing the vaccine and COVID in general generates so much angst and anger, but it clearly does . . .

I am 63 years old and caregiver to my 83 year old mother. She has been homebound for the past few years. I got her scheduled for her Covid shot and took her yesterday. While she was getting registered, they asked if I was her caregiver; and if so, did I want to get vaccinated as well? I said yes and was registered as well. My wife will still have to wait until the state allows people over 60 to register. My wife and I have been sheltering in since this all started (Feb/March 2020) because we take care of my mom. Only time I go out in public is to get groceries for us and my mom. I'll be glad when the country gets a handle on this virus, so we can get back to some kind of "normal".

I got notice of scheduling availability yesterday 1/19. I'm scheduled for first shot 2/23. As far as taking a pass on it I'm afraid if I'm not immunized I'll get it and pass it on to others.

Mine is this Saturday 1/23. Would like to get out of the house for something other than groceries. Hope they haven't moved the high limit rooms in the last year...

We have signed up but it appears our County Covid Chief is making distribution by selected zip codes. He stated on TV, he did it to help the underserved community. The Governor has threatened to withhold Dallas County vaccine if the geopolitical distribution does not stop. Can someone explain why they thought shutting down the vaccines for MLK Day was justified? They tell us the world is dying but on that day a parade was more important. It truly is The Greatest Show on Earth!
Bless their hearts!

We’ve discussed this ad nauseam in previous threads. Little surprise the replies range from “I want the vaccine ASAP” to “Not even at gunpoint”.
Time to move on...
