Jimmie Rodgers RIP
RIP Jimmie Rodgers. Dead 1/18/21 and yodeling in heaven.
The songs below are by the original Jimmie Rogers who died much earlier. I left them because they're great songs. See later post for the Jimmie Rogers that died on the 18th.

Meridian, Mississippi. Birthplace of Jimmie Rodgers and Hartley Peavey of Peavey Electronics. I've been there three times and found it a very nice place.

Back during the Depresssion, my Dad worked for the WPA.
We Piddle Around. No, wait. Works Projects Administration.
He built barns and sanitary facilities over in Arkansas.
He bought a RCA wind up Victrola and every Jimmie Rodgers record he could find.
So growing up I heard about Jimmie but never heard Jimmie.
The first Jimmie song I ever performed was a Folky Dude in Chicago.
TB Blues.
Now I have the Bear Family CDs. So I have heard all the Jimmie songs.
My Fav- probably Waiting For a Train.

What is 1/18/21? The original Rogers died 5/24/1933.

Thanks Ivan...I'm an idiot. This is the Jimmie Rodgers that passed on the 18th. When I make mistakes I make big ones haha.

As a youngster, I enjoyed his songs and he was "the Thing" back in the 60's with all the girls in my home town.
1/18/21 at age 87, is correct.
I always got him mixed up with Jimmy Dean, that passed away in 6/13/2010, name wise, for some odd reason.
