Default Stimulus Checks

We recently got our $600.00 stimulus checks, so my wife and I pooled ours and replaced our front deck that was beginning to rot out.
I think we used them in the way they supposed to be used:
A portion of it went to the landowner
Another to the logger and his crew
A portion to the sawmiller
Another to the wood treating company
A portion to the lumber wholesaler
Another to the building supply
And a full day's work to the contractractors two man crew,
they also used two bags of concrete and the fasteners

A pastor suggested if you don't
need the stimulus money, give
the funds for distribution to
the truly more needy.

For those who don't need the stimulus money, it's just a loan. It will need to be paid back with higher taxes, either by those that received the money, or their heirs. We put our $1200 on our mortgage, which will help our heirs to pay higher taxes.
The tax man giveth, and the tax man taketh away! For a fee.

Best,
Rick

On the first go I got $77.
I sent it to a local Food Bank.
Mostly likely will send the next there too.

I think this is a marvelous idea! The fly in the ointment is who decides who is needy.

When my brother was born in 1950, his mouth to feed put them $1000 or so below the poverty level, they never passed up a chance to help others and never took a dime of assistance! When dad died two years ago his current wife inherited 4 to 6 million dollars. And she never misses a chance to scoff at those that just can't get ahead!

I remember in the late 50's and early 60s, as a small kid, eating at the picnic table on the back porch, with hobos that had ask for a meal, not one was ever turned away! A can of soup and 2 grilled cheese sandwiches were often split 4 or 5 ways but nobody was ever turned away! MOM lives a very comfortable life in a condo about 3000' from my own, and we never see a "Hobo" or any homeless around this neck of the woods, but she still see to it there are donations to the food bank!

I often wonder if they pulled themselves out of poverty because of being poor, or in spite of it. And I wonder how many we suppress the ability to "Grow" out of hard times, by giving them every last thing the need (including cable TV and Cell phones). I don't think throwing money at any problem has ever helped anyone! It ALWAYS takes a strong heart and will, along with doing things that get you blessed!

Ivan

Well, in Uncle Ed's suggestion, the guy or gal gettin' the stimulus check does.

Admirable parents, Ivan. An example to us all.

I got a $600 debit card. I cashed it and used it to pay for a new water pump in my truck.

I posted this a while back; With my $600, I purchased a small place in the country, with a lake right off my porch.

Well, we have forgiven over $7000 in rent to our 2 renters so we figured we have done our share to this point and kept the money. Easy come easy go.

I now live in a lower middle class neighborhood. When I shop at Krogers discount grocery store called Food For Less I notice at check out time I see I'm behind quite a few people using SNAP cards. An Observation: Out in the parking lot the same people get in new Chrysler 300's, Audis, or BMW's. The same people get in pickups 10 years newer than mine adorned with pipe racks and ladders. They're out there doing repairs and roofing without without reporting income just as they always did. Most of the aforementioned are dragging around more kids then they could ever provide for. So I'm supposed to pay for the new cars and multiple kids and bad choices choices a large segment of society claims as the "poor" life.

I used the Stimulus $1200 to stock the freezer with beef and pork and stocked up on staple food items.

I cashed out the second Stimulus $600 in $20 bills and have it stashed for emergency fund.

For the next Stimulus round I am going to stash another $400 barrel in $20 bills for a total $1,000 emergency cash and the balance to pay on a credit card.

Not what the Government wants but I am not making any excuses for taking care of my family first. In fairness I would probably spend part of it on a gun or ammunition (especially ammo) if they were available at pre-panic prices.

I've noticed that when the government "stimulates" someone, it will most often be felt in the back side...

My Stimulus Check finally arrived, thanks USPS. Instead of the advertised $600.00 per person, I got a whopping $177.34. Now the question is what in the Hell can I do with a windfall with that much money? I am sure it cost the U.S. of G. more to process, print, and deliver the check than the total amount of the check.

At times like this, I almost wish I was still married to the second runner-up, she would have it spent by now.

We got our gubermint check this morning and the person that rents a small section of property paid 6 months in advance so we had enough to pay taxes and have $100 left over and bought $100 worth of beer before I spent on something I didn't need.

IF I get one, I'll just use it to pay taxes to house the homeless in SF or Covid tests for Guatemalan hordes headed for the border.

My FIL is quite elderly. He received his and motivated by our constant counsel to beware of scammers, assumed it was bogus and shredded it. Took us almost all day to convince him it was legit. He shrugged his shoulders and said he would leave it where it was. He had no need for the money.

I haven't received mine yet. I got the first one pretty early. If I understand correctly, the last checks were mailed on January 6.

My FIL is quite elderly. He received his and motivated by our constant counsel to beware of scammers, assumed it was bogus and shredded it. Took us almost all day to convince him it was legit. He shrugged his shoulders and said he would leave it where it was. He had no need for the money.
Ignorance is bliss.
Yup, my 91 year old dad received his in the form of a debit card. Totally blew him out of the water. Also thought it was bogus, probably in no small part to my warnings of potential skulduggery. When I calmed him down it was 'Oh for God's sake, why can't they just deposit it in the bank?'. Actually that's a pretty good question. It does seem like a lot of bureaucratic overhead is involved with the distribution.

So I guess when I go in for my annual physical exam, I'll get the "stimulus" (prostate) exam?

All of the stimulus checks we received were mostly spent at local small businesses to help keep them alive.

Just received one for my wife and I. There is a little over $300 on it. We've both been working so we don't really need it, but I guess the government's plan is that we go out and blow it somewhere. Too late, it was our wedding anniversary the holiday weekend and we spent a bunch on a fantastic meal in the restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere Tower. This card will dent that cost, but not cover it.

So people are still getting checks? I thought that since I haven't gotten one yet I wasn't going to unless I filed a tax return this year and claimed it as a credit. I'm retired and not required to file an FIT return so I usually don't file one. I guess that gums up the works.

I received a $1200 check this week which totally surprised me because it was my understanding I'm in the income tax bracket that doesn't qualify for one.

I'm gonna hang onto it and use it to pay taxes.

mmb617, it's my understanding that if you are receiving Social Security you'll get a check whether you filed or not. It will be direct deposit like your SS check. My brother doesn't have to file but does get SS and he got the last stimulus check.

That is what I thought, but I found out that my second check ($600) is coming by mail. My first one was direct deposited. I am getting a little worried wondering if I could have thrown it away, by chance. Sometimes I throw away some "junk" mail without opening it. If I had even thought it was coming by mail, I would have definitely been looking for it!!

Our first stimulus was on a debit card. The second one came today as a treasury check - no missing that in the mail.

This time instead of the full amount we got $693.70. We must be too well-off all of a sudden.

To date we have received 10 stimulus checks. All were direct deposits.

I look at it this way - It's my money! I'm just getting a tiny fraction of the money back that I've paid in taxes and fees over the years.

BTW, If the .gov doesn't care who, what, or where tax payer money goes, I'd rather American Citizens get it than anyone else.

Enjoy it while you can, it's later than you think.
