I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccine at our local VA hospital two days ago. I showed up at 5:30am, early in order to be the first in line. They started at 9:15am. As I left, there were four long hallways lined with people/veterans, stretching so long that the line continued outside of the hospital.

Did I save any time showing up so early? No.
Did I minimize any possible exposure to Covid-19? Absolutely!

That line took ~2-3hr from beginning to end. Sure glad that I didn't have to spend any time waiting as a result.

BTW, my appointment card said to be there at 9:15am. But like all things VA, hurry up and wait... is a given.

Finally scheduled tomorrow. A lady that is in the women's group at church found out that a lab was giving them so Carol got us scheduled for both shots. Will be glad to get it.

Received my first shot of Moderna Wednesday (3rd Feb.). 3 hours later I started feeling very sleepy, blood pressure was 82 over 54. Called my doctor and was told go to the ER.

ER said there was nothing they could do but monitor me for a bit. Only thing they did was take my blood pressure. Of course when you go to the ER you get some anxiety and my blood pressure was in the 140's. I was there for about 45 minutes and told to leave as nothing was wrong and it was not possible for my blood pressure to do what I told them it did.

That night and today my arm is sore.

Got my first shot (Pfizer) on Wednesday. No effect that day except for sore arm. Yesterday, I was dizzy all day. My BP went DOWN some, so I ate some salty stuff and this morning I am fine except my weight went up.

Getting an appointment was a b***h but getting the shot wasn't. Stayed in the car and it went smooth. Took an hour from time I left home, stopped for gas and returned. They made my second appointment on the spot!

We have people coming from neighboring states to get a vaccine.
If I knew that was possible I would have went to Marco Island for three weeks.

Indiana is using county health depts to administer the Moderna vaccine and my experience was perfect. 10 am appt inside an empty ex Service Merchandise store. No waiting, 4 shot givers, in and out in 20 minutes and most of that was post shot waiting period. No after effects other than some soreness. Next dose Mar 10.

The distribution is a bit of a three-ring circus, but everyone seems to be trying, at least at the sharp end. Hard to plan ahead at the local level if you don’t know how many doses will end up coming down the pipeline.

The county is still only vaxing health care providers, nursing home folks, direct-contact teachers, and highest-risk category. And they don’t have enough for everyone. But you can get lucky.

The other day a near-by Indian reservation ended up with extra doses at night; they put that on their website offering first come first serve. I couldn’t get out there, but some friends bundled their parents and grandma into the truck, raced to the site, and got them their first shots.

I’m officially eligible, but no luck for some weeks. Today that changed; the local hospital had a no-show. From my long history of medical issues I know people there, and it occurred to someone to text me. By noon I had my first Moderna shot.

After 8 hours no side effects yet. We‘ll see what tomorrow brings.

UPDATE: 24 hours later, no side effects. Can’t even tell where the shot went in. I texted the guy and asked him if he was sure I didn’t get a placebo . He was sure. Apparently some people have such a competent immune system that it can handle shots without throwing a hissy fit. Hope the best for shot #2.

Well I don't know about the shots. Maybe if everyone else gets them I don't have to. Gosh, everything you eat or drink nom a days is going to do that anyway. Guess I'll have another drink & ponder the problem.

We(me and my daughter) got our shots a little before 1PM today and she said she has a little tenderness in her arm(I don't, at least not yet).
We got them from a Lab(IMMY) in Norman OK. I have never seen an event so well organized. The had leased, I guess, the Embassy Suites Conference Hall which is a separate large building from the Hotel. I have no idea how many shots were given. They were set up in 5 minute intervals and you were not allowed in the building until your time and then you were seated. The seats were spaced about 6 ft. apart in lines and I would guess there were about thirty or forty lines about 12-15 chairs deep. They had a person(one for every chair in the line) giving shots with a helper and as they gave one they proceeded to the next line and you kept seated until you time had expired. It was planned so much better than most events.
We get our second on the 26th.

It's been over 4 days since I got my second Moderna shot.

The injection site soreness is gone. I have been doing light weight lifting exercises in preparation for upcoming knee surgery, maybe that helped. (I have read exercising the injection site arm makes the pain go away.)

No other symptoms at all.

My 73yr old sister got her second Moderna shot this past Saturday. Kicked her butt until yesterday. She also has compromised immunity in addition to a couple other pre-existing conditions.

She didn’t have any issues the first time.

I had covid at the beginning of December, not fun. I’m coming in to the next group to get the vaccination in my state, will definitely get it.

Everyone at my place of employment was offered the vaccine as soon as they went public. 80% of my co-workers declined the offer. Makes sense to me. If they were remotely intelligent they'd be in a different line of work nowadays.

My wife got her 1st shot yesterday. (pfizer) She's pretty fatigued and her arm hurts like hades but that's about it. I finally got my "ticket" to sign up online for my 1st vaccine and am scheduled for March 12. Trying to get the vaccination in this area has been a nightmare unless you live in an "underserved" location.

My MIL and I got the first round of Moderna, yesterday.
I had a cute little nurse give me mine. Gave me a chance for an old joke. I asked will I be able to play the piano after this? She took the bait hook line and sinker. Oh, you might have a sore shoulder, but you can play. Great, says I cause I can’t play now and I always wanted to.
I am easily amused.

Wife ad I both got our 2nd shots yesterday. Very slick operation. Just like the 1st shot, were given a time to show up at convention center, traffic director checks you have an appointment and directs you to a parking spot. Go inside, process through the paperwork, directed to a 8 ft table, and each sit at opposite ends. Worker hands you the questioner to complete and sign, nurse gives shot you sit there for 15 minutes, the directed out the door. Our total time from parking to leaving was 27 minutes. Ran like a Swiss watch.

The County Public Health Director (who runs this) happens to be a friend of mine (and a fellow shooter) and is receiving accolades from everyone. They're doing over 1100 a day and now handling the 4 additional counties surrounding us. He told me if they had more parking available they cluld easily handle 1500+ p/day.

I'm curious. If you already had Covid and survived it, then presumably you have acquired a natural immunity to that particular strain of disease. Why would you need the vaccine...and is it even advisable you get vaccinated when you've already been sick and recovered?

The length of time that "natural immunity" (almost an oxymoron) lasts depends on a slew of factors including but not limited to: level of infection, immune response, of the patient, type of immune response (need IgG to be reached) and a variety of other factors. The two current vaccines (mRNA-based) in the US appear to give a response >60% against the UK-identified viral mutant that is more infectious. The true level of this mutant in the US is unknown due to the US being way way down the list when it comes to viral sequencing, due to the haphazard "systems" in use in the US where there are very significant "political barriers" to overcome, before university-linked genomic labs can do the sequencing, to say nothing of the total lack of any central registry of people infected and with which mutant. The UK is way ahead in performing this type of analysis with over 50% of all published viral sequences coming from their data, the US is at <5% in the numbers sequenced. Dave_n

Interesting. I guess what I'm ultimately getting at is that I live in an urban area and I was one of those people who never wore a mask during the first several months of the "pandemic" until it was mandated. I'm certain that I have been repeatedly exposed to the Covid, but I have never been sick or had a fever etc. For whatever reason the stuff just doesn't "take root" in me. I'm wondering why I should bother risking taking a vaccine that can and does make people sick...or even worse.

You can get an antibody test for about $25.That will tell you if you’ve had it

Dunno. Don't care. Rather spend the $25 on beer

BTW, apparently some people have some level of immunity. In this article, scientists discovered antibodies that react against Covid...and they came from blood donated prior to the emergence of the pandemic.

I am scheduled for my first dose Monday and am eagerly looking forward to it. I am actually hoping for some robust side effects to indicate a good immune response as I am not quite sure of the state of my immune system after chemo.

Got my first a few weeks ago. Then got sick from it. I get my second next Friday. Already planning on calling off on Saturday. Not looking forward to it.

Exactly.
“Getting sick” means the vaccine works, as noted. There is no sure thing with any vaccine or medication, but the earliest folks being vaccinated are getting mRNA at 90+% effectiveness.

I expect many of us will end up with the Jansen/Johnson&Johnson vaccine which is older technology. That will provide good protection against severe cases, but likely is only 60+% against any case of COVID. I still think those odds are good.

Very close friend is Phd who has worked on the mRNA vaccines for a decade. The results have been amazing in the Congo against Ebola. That technology was what made the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines so rapid to produce.

He volunteered from day one for both Pfizer and Moderna trials; he was in the Moderna trial and very positive on the results. Anyone who passes on the Russian and Chinese propaganda about mRNA viruses needs to check their themselves.

I'm looking forward to starting to throw off the yoke of Covid, but admit to being apprehensive .

We're 80 and 82. I sure hope they don't expect us to stand in long lines.

I'll post how it went.
Wife and I got the first dose and all went well!

Got my second Moderna Wed. My wife got her second today. Ours were under the S.D. first responder program. Others in our Dept. and local ambulance services report mostly sore arms with the first. Second gives many some mild flu like symptoms and nausea for about 12 hours usually the next day, though it varies with the individual as with most vaccines. Sure beats the possibilities with getting Covid!!

Got my first Moderna shot today. Joked with my friends that I thought it was turning me into The Hulk, but when I glanced in the mirror, it was Hulk Hogan - still old, balding, and wrinkled.

The Today Show posted a new site yesterday that is supposed to help with finding a vaccination site for those of you interested. It's Plan Your Vaccine. I don't know anything else about it since my appointment has already been scheduled. I just hope this helps someone if it's needed.

First Pfizer shot on 1/21 at the Javits Center in NYC. Needle was in me within 15 minutes of arrival. Just a sore arm afterwards.
Second shot yesterday, 2/11. Needle was in me within 5 minutes of arrival. Sore arm until hour 22 post injection. Then spent the last six hours in bed.
About an hour's drive each way for me here on Long Island. Spent a total of $55 for parking, plus whatever hits my EZPass for four times through the tunnel.

Here abouts we read and hear stories of folks spending hour after hour, day after day on line trying to get a vaccination appointment. Then, if they are lucky enough to snag one they have to drive to the opposite end of the adjacent county. Getting frustrated in such an endeavor doesn’t sound enticing. So, I said to myself, “you have better ways of spending your time - go skiing”. So I did, and crashed. Now I have plenty of time to search the internet while I am recuperating.

I got my second Physer shot this morning.

Arrived at the parking lot at 9:30, left at 9:54.

No 15 minute wait after the shot since I had no adverse reaction to the first shot.

For the last week or so, NYS indicates that the only place where you can book an appt, which would be deep into March, would be Potsdam, NY. That's many hundreds of miles from me, up in the boonies near the Canadian border.
Hopefully, CVS and other pharmacies will help with the demand.
I lucked out when I was able to book my first shot last month, but many others are still working the websites and phones without results. It didn't help those over 75, when 65 y.o.s were offered the shot the very next day. Now, restauant workers are also eligible, among many others.
