Years back my son would get flats on his bicycle from riding to school and back, part of the route was an overpass that was a target for flying bottles from passing cars. Got to where he could strip and patch in no time flat.
I bought him some tire liners and no more flats.
Was the tire liner that effective or did he just get lucky? I'll never know.
As with the vaccine we won't know squat until the number of cases after vaccination becomes available.
Florida loosened the requirements to include teachers K-12 and child care workers over 50. A chain of pharmacies is offering the shots but locations are pretty scattered. My wife is on pins and needles to get this done as she hasn't missed a day work since the outbreak tending to the children at the YMCA and precautions and a bit of luck only go so far.
I'll get mine when I can, never had a flu shot but will do this.

I got the J&J single dosage shot four hours ago. At this point, zero symptoms. It was a drive through deal, very easy.
EDIT eight days after the shot, I has zero side effects, not even soreness at the injection site.

Different states have different rules. The wife and I are both over 70 (in the 1A group), plus we both have health issues. Additionally, she is also a teacher, which puts her in the 1A group THREE times.
Our "community" is a metropolis of several million people. Down the road 65 miles is another city with an even greater population. We have been trying to get a shot for over a month. The State and Pharmacies have been opening up appointments almost daily. They are all used up in 5 or 6 minutes.
After a month we decided to try other locations. As luck would have it a CVS had appointments about 2 hours away. It was a little town of about 3000 people.
When we got the shot, naturally we exchanged some happy banter with others in line. They were ALL from big cities 2 hours away. When I talked to the lady that signed us in she said that the locals were the predominant patients for 3 or 4 weeks, but now the local demand had slowed down.
I won't apologize for talking a road trip. Everybody in the entire state had the same opportunity. All they had to do was get on the computer at 5:30 in the freaking morning.

My wife and I are scheduled to get ours on Wednesday. We're getting the Johnson and Johnson, so we only need one. I'll update later if there are any side effects.
I'm getting mine for my wife's benefit since she's in a high-risk group. My immune system is built like a tank. I haven't had the flu since 1986 (never had a flu shot), and my last cold was in 2012.

Myself.
I've gotten several texts from my healthcare provider telling me I can come in and get my shot....no thanks.
I dont see the need for a shot for a virus you have a 98.03% chance of surviving. Never had a flu shot and I've never had the flu either.
Not to mention there's never been a vac produced this quickly and we have no idea of future side effects. Most take 5 to 10 years to develop.

I'm happy to say I got my 1st Moderna shot on Monday. My arm was pretty sore for two days and my glands are still a little swollen. But that's way better than the alternative.
And for those looking to make appointments, I was on a waiting list with my County health department, they never called. Instead I called Walgreens and had an appointment in minutes for two days later. Find out if any pharmacies in your area are giving the vaccine and either check on line or call them.

We have a government that has lied to the people as far back as I can remember in my 65 years and now they say I should get a vaccine that is not really a vaccine in the traditional sense.
They won't even be truthful about how many died from it as opposed to with it or that died for other reasons and the virus simply present.
It doe not prevent you from getting the Chinese Death Flu or spreading it to others if you do.
You still have to wear the masks, social distance, and the rest.
It has been rushed to market and all the manufacturers have been given product immunity for any / all current or future reactions to the stuff they want to pump into your arm.
If you have any reaction, then it is doing something to you your natural body immune system does not like.
If others want to line up, good for them. I'm not volunteering to be a guinea pig for drug companies that are making billions off of a disease, virus, what have you that has a 0.03% death rate (8 billion people / 2.5 million supposed deaths) and where much of that is more prevalent in congested urban areas where other co-morbidities abound.

Guess Im not as lucky as most of you. Got my 1st Moderna shot Thursday and by 11am friday I was running 103 temp with chills and sweats. Laid in bed all day Saturday with fever. Here it is Sunday morning and just got my 1st shower in 3 days and starting to feel human again.
I did have Covid back in June and was very sick for 3 weeks. Im not sure Im going to get my 2nd shot. It may kill me.

Unfortunately, some people’s immune system has to work a bit at absorbing the vaccine.
Fortunately, mine doesn’t. So I can report that I got the 2nd Moderna shot on Friday morning and have been doing fine with no side effects at all, not even a sore arm at the point of injection.
My Aunt Rose is celebrating her 92. birthday tomorrow. She made it through both Pfizer shots with no issues. And my mom is 89 and had her first last week with no problems. Maybe our family just doesn’t do side effects

I realize it isn't a vaccine. I realize it won't prevent the covid, but only make it more manageable. I realize it isn't approved. I realize it isn't yet known what the future will bring. I took it anyway.
I don't take flue shots and I haven't had the flu since 1969. I usually get a cold. This Winter with the masks and other stuff I didn't even get that.
Now I have a beautiful card in my wallet that says I'm vaccinated. That's all I need . I'll show it to anyone and I'm proud to do it.
In the meantime I'm going to a resort in Florida and I'm going to eat steak and drink massive quantities of beer. The wife will be with me and hopefully we'll ***** as well.
My Governor says we're ** Tough. That's true. But I'm a 100% German and we're even tougher than that....

After I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine - the same people that make viagra - I was expecting some stiffness.
Nope. All I experienced was a sore lump at the injection site on my arm.

I would be surprised if it wasn't 78%, considering that's just about the percentage of people in this country that are overweight or obese.

That's creepy. I wonder what will happen to those of us who don't have a card?

Your theory is easily verified by a simple shopping trip at WalMart. That's why they have those motorized sit-down shopping carts.

That old inequity thing.
Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies program, said the guidelines could have implications for national policy and international travel down the road.
“I think there are real practical and ethical considerations as well that countries will have to address,” he told reporters during a press briefing. “Because if access to vaccines is iniquitous, then inequity and unfairness can be further branded into the system if we continue to make decisions on what people can and cannot do, where they can and cannot go on the basis of being vaccinated when being vaccinated itself is not something everyone has access to.”
“Then there are people who for whatever reason cannot be vaccinated or do not wish to be vaccinated. This is an important societal discussion. I think we need to be very careful,” he added.

I got both of the Moderna shots with no side effects with either one. The VA I went to ran the operation with the speed and efficiency of a well trained combat unit. I was in and out in 21 minutes which included the 15 minute wait. The also had coffee and doughnuts. Kudos to the VA.

My wife and I are both in our high 60's, and we had COVID in January. We are both teachers, and know that if we are going to be on any campus in the near future, we would need the shots. We got our first round on Feb 4, and had to drive almost 3 hours to get there--nothing closer. They told us since we just had COVID, we would probably have more extreme reactions. My wife had some unpleasant reactions, but I thought I was getting COVID all over again. Temp of 102 for 2 days, body ache, injection site pain, fatigue, cough, and it took me about a week before I was feeling better. Heard that if you had a "bad" reaction, you shouldn't even take the 2nd dose because of the stress on your system. Well, now I hear that the 2nd dose is indeed needed, and I just found out it has to be taken within 42 days of the first, or you start all over again. So, we are driving just an hour on Thursday, to get our 2nd Pfizer (again, that was the closest). We are getting to see OK towns that we have never been to in the process. From new information, I understand that we will be immune then for 90 days. But we can still transmit the CCP virus. Then what? I do see that my COVID 19 VACCINATION RECORD CARD has 4 slots available for vaccinations--2 slots for 1st dose and 2nd dose, and then 2 others marked "Other.". 90 day immunity takes me to the end of school. My University was already asking for my records two weeks ago, in order to assess "campus safety" for the fall. I do wonder what is next.

Have been patiently waiting...
...my turn in the queue for the shot(s.)
Alas, as luck would have it I got a call yesterday to receive the vaccine on March 11...tomorrow...but will be in Florida for spring training hardball.
Explained that to lady who called. She said she would notate the files and get back to me when possible.
Be safe.
PS: Had the virus in late December. Lost sense of smell for two days and had a slightly low blood oxygenation level. No fever...no other problem(s) whatsoever. Might not have known I even had it if not for baking a pumpkin pie and not being able to smell cloves or cinnamon. Was subsequently tested and was positive for antibodies.

So what do you expect to gain by getting the vaccine?
Too much bad news about it.

Kind of a chicken little attitude in my opinion. I had some second thoughts abouty getting the shots/ But to be honest I remember the list of ther vaccines from the past. I remember seering qurantine signs on houses and people with polio, iron lungs. Yep any vaccine can have bad reactions...but vaccines still save waaaayyyy more than it hurts. Don't want the vaccine don't get it but remember that you can affect others with your bad decisions. Other peoples lives may be vadly affected by YOUR poor decidsionds. My wife is a survivor of polio with minimsal problems and she is very lucky. Many weren't quite so lucky. Got my second Moderna shot on 3/2/21 with very minimalside effects...sore spot at the injection sites for both

My wife is a nurse for a major hospital and has seen a few bad reactions. Two of her coworkers got blood clots soon after their vaccinations. They are alright now but it was touch and go for a while.
My friend from the gym got his last Friday and has not been to the gym since. He's having a bad time of it being extremely weak and blurred vision. Don't expect to hear this type of stuff from the propagandists. There are people getting rich off this China Virus.
No one in my family will take it as there were no real clinical trials and no one knows what the long term effects may be.
The question is raised, what will happen when big brother requires a Covid Vac Card? The same thing that always happens, you'll buy them on the black market.

I'm high risk. I was not real enthusiastic about getting the shot due to the rapidity with which it was developed, but the process itself was a decade old by the time this came up (preplanning by ... DARPA, I think the article said). I have two specialists, and both firmly advocated I get it (Moderna specifically for me) and I have a lot of respect for both of them.
I have seen multiple anecdotal reports that people who have had actually had Covid tend to have more side effects/problems from the vax. While the risk of death from Covid is not all that high in the aggregate, some folks have a lot worse risk, and many have had long term effects that are not going away. The vax is much less risky, for both myself and society as a whole.

My wife and I got them Monday, and each had a different shot giver. Moderna vaccine was used. Her arm was still sore yesterday and I had to be reminded we had had shots. I was told to stick around, she wasn't and she was driving so we left. No reactions.

It’s telling that those who rail against the vaccine the loudest would appear the least equipped to discuss its relative merits.
Conspiracy sites are not a medical resource.

As someone who spent many hours Christmas Eve and Christmas Day gowned and masked up with my partner, sitting in her mother's room, so her mother wouldn't die alone, those of you who are concerned about getting the vaccine shot/s, your choice affects others.
You see, she was living in an assisted living facility that has been in lockdown since April last year. No visitors allowed. Some member of the staff did something selfish and reckless, and got the virus at Thanksgiving. They brought it into the facility. At the time my partner's mom got sick, at least 20 out of the 22 in her wing were Covid positive and sick, and well over half the staff. Some trained medical staff member brought it in. Someone paid to keep these residents safe and healthy. They failed.
She died early in the morning the day after Christmas. Because of someone else. She did everything right. She died because someone was selfish.
Your actions affect others. Sometimes fatally. You are not required by law to be vaccinated. But basic human decency dictates that you should, unless I guess you don't care about anyone but yourself. And even then, I hope you care about yourself.
She was a Registered Nurse, practicing for just over 5 decades. To think she died because someone who was a trained medical care professional was selfish and reckless sickens me. She saw and treated people, mostly children back when whooping cough was a thing. It was eradicated in the US, but now it's back because people are ignorant and selfish.

Racer X I couldn't put a like on your post--It was just too sad.
However you hit the nail on the head about vaccination.

Your experience mirrors my own last year.
So sorry for your and your partner’s loss.

I can't in any way agree with this rather repulsive POV . My being vaccinated OR NOT...has zero effect on others. Individuals need to be vaccinated if they believe it will give them protection...but that has no bearing on the rest of us. Don't call people "selfish" or try to hang a guilt trip on them because they choose to exercise their God-given freewill to do what they believe is best for their own mind and body. TBH I absolutely despise the "for the greater good" mentality that individual interests come second to those of the group. Study world history and you will find that this approach always ends very badly.

So you think, that you being infected, and asymptomatic, and unknowingly passing it on to someone else, who dies, isn't affecting others?
That's pretty delusional.
I am all about personal freedoms, but I am also adamant about personal responsibility. Sounds like you also believe in the former, but certainly not the latter.
I am very Pro 2A. But at the same time, I take responsibility for where my bullets end up. Do you?
It's your right to drink. Do you take responsibility if you drive and kill someone?

How's the used Harley market these days?
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.
The gal that gave me my second shot at the VA, asked if I date younger women. Hope you all are as lucky.

2 Things
1. Do you?
2. Did you give her your number? She may have saved your life. You owe her

Personal freedoms mean nothing unless personal responsibility is added to the mix.
At worst you may get a sore arm. At best you may save someone's life. Somewhere in the middle maybe its all a waste of time because we are getting duped.
Take the shot. If you don't want to, don't come on here and complain about ammo prices or your inability to go drink at a bar.
