big foot hunting on the travel chanel
watched it a few times the last couple of days . had my fill of basketball so i tuned that in. not sure i am a big believer but it provided some entertainment .
anyone else see the series ? wondering what long guns they were using & how they were tricked out ? did notice they mostly have flashlights on them.
could anyone tell what the guns where ? just curious .

Or a game camera would have picked one up by now.
Heck, game cameras have provided solid evidence there are mountain lions in Arkansas, something the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission has been denying for years.

I’ve had a lot of fun hunting for Bigfoot. Gives me an excuse to hike armed, drives my more serious minded friends up a wall (they also like to discuss “getting right with god” ) and my fam can’t decide if I’m messing with them or have finally slid into dementia

Several years ago, when I was living in Humboldt county of Northern California, (the same area where the Patterson/Gimlin bigfoot footage was filmed) some cryptozoologists (bigfoot hunters) were looking for some packers to pack them and their equipment into an area in Humboldt county where they would continue their searches.
I was contacted and politely turned down their offer. Turns out they got another packer to take them in. They blindfolded him while they were driving to the spot where they would start the trek in. He packed them into where they were initiating the search and stayed with them for about a week, then packed them and all their gear out.
Funny thing is, 1) they never found Bigfoot, and 2) they stiffed the packer on his fee.
On the bright side, however, the packer learned a valuable lesson...never deal with crazies.

Sometimes I'll watch shows like that because they can be entertaining (sometimes), but all the so-called "evidence" ends up being from some other animal or inconclusive.
I did like the series Monster Quest. The first half of each episode were interviews with "cryptozoologists" with their "evidence" and re-enactments, and the second half was interviews with real scientists saying why the cryptozoologists were wrong.
I also liked the ones hosted by Josh Gates, but that's because he's a funny smart-***.

Have no idea what the guns are but being insanely curious, I wonder about how the same type of creature exists in so many cultures. I think that is more of a mystery than if it exists or not. There are clearly folks who truly believe they have had encounters. I have no idea if they exist or not, but there is something to the whole thing.

I also find it interesting that so many cultures with no evidence of interaction all have similar myths, monsters, and folk tales. I think many of the myths and legends we have now were inspired by actual events and/or creatures. For example, it's thought that dragons and unicorns were inspired by dinosaur fossils and rhinoceri skeletons, respectively. Ancient people may have seen the trunk opening in elephant skulls and thought they were cyclops.
There's a PBS series on YouTube called "Monstrum" where a myth and folklore researcher talks about the origins and inspirations for monsters from many different cultures.
Or maybe it's some kind of collective unconsciousness, a memory of our ancient past imprinted in our DNA somehow, and then interpreted by later generations.
Who knows? *shrug*

That makes me mad. I don't watch it because it's so obviously fake, and turns out, they are just as fake, because they didn't keep their word with the guy that did.
Have a blessed day,

One time a local guy had never been coon hunting and wanted to go with my buddy and me. He saw and heard all kinds of things all night long. He asked me what would I do if we saw a ghost. I told him I would put 6, .357 holes in and kill it deader than 4 o'clock. He never asked to go again but I wouldn't have took him again. There are mean animals and people but there are no such thing as ghosts, haints, big foots or any other thing like that.

You may think that Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or Wild Man is total hokum, or a myth.
For me, I know it isn’t. I had an encounter up in the Wyoming mountains, and know that they are real.
The thing is, I believe they are highly intelligent, and fairly docile, until you make them mad.
They have a massive amount of muscle, from neck to their calves.
Plus, if you see one, please know, there are more around that you don’t see.
From what I saw, they look like pre-historic humans. The pre-human that comes closest to Bigfoot are Homo Heidelbergensis.
It’s easy to make fun of, or laugh at someone who has had an encounter, but it’s a life changing experience. What happened to me, makes me want to be in the woods more now.
There are too many experiences from different people from many different places on this planet that have had the same kind of sighting to make it more than a myth or legend. And these go back several centuries, in many different cultures.
There are some very credible people that are doing highly credible investigations, scientifically. One such source, that you can look at is YouTube. There are a lot of hoaxers on there, but the real ones you spot in an instant.
Well, enough said for now.

As I've said here before. What if they bury their scat? Avoid humans? Bury their dead? And are smart. When you see one you will know. Remember, they live in the boonies, we don't.

I like the way you think.
I'm pretty sure they bury their dead. As for burying their scat, they probably do in most cases.
When you're in the woods, you're in their back yard. Most of us stick out like sore thumbs when we're out there, and we make enough noise usually, to alert anything within a minimum 2 mile radius that we're there.
I know when we're out there, we're leaving all sorts of mechanical smells, motor oil, gasoline, rubber, camp fire, cooking, you name it.
They are an inquisitive creature, and will come around at night time, and observe.
They leave tee pee wood structures out there too, along with broken trees, to let other Squatch know it's their territory.
The next time any of you are out there, and you feel like you're being watched, you probably are.
Oh yeah, their vocalisations can be anywhere from obscure, to downright obvious, depending on their moods.
Also, be aware of the wood knocks, if possible.

I had an experience 7? yrs ago that made me go hmmm. 6-7 miles back in a wilderness area at 11,000’ just at timberline in August when I was followed for a mile or so.At the time I attributed it to a bear as I’d seen fresh scat on my way in.It followed along,I caught a stinky odor a few times when the wind shifted, never got a glimpse of it,but what got me was that it didn’t really make an effort to walk quietly. It stayed just below and behind me in fairly heavy timber crunching away as it walked. I have no idea what that was,but I found the B-17 wreck I was looking for.

I'm pretty sure you know that black bears don't follow people for an extended period of time, right?
Even grizz will only track a short amount of time before bugging off.
Bigfoot will make themselves known, because you're in their territory.

How many people claim to have seen something, how long these claims
have been around or how widespread geographically they are, does Not
prove anything. Maybe proves a percentage of the population will believe
anything.
After all, how many people have seen Elvis alive and well since 1977?

Bigfoot, the Jersey Devil, Elvis sightings, the 100mpg carburator...all for those with too much time on their hands IMHO.
The interweb just magnifies and accelerates it.

What amazes me the most is how much we appear to know about the habits, lifestyle, customs, breeding, intelligence, awareness, and communication methods of Bigfoot, when the longest period of time anyone has actually claimed to observe one is about ten seconds . . .

Aliens and UFO’s don’t exist either. The Air Force investigated UFO’s for many years before closing Project Blue Book. Given the technology back then it was easier to explain sightings. Project Blue Book was really oriented towards investigating aircraft and technology the Kommies had than contact of the 3rd kind.
Now the military is reopening investigations into UFO’s due to contacts being caught by our fighters that can not be easily explained. Despite how much better technology we have today U.F.O.’s continue outperform our best fighter aircraft.
As with U.F.O.’s there are a lot of animals and creatures in the wild we don’t know about. Kansas Fish and Game refused to admit mountain lions were in the State until there were too many trail cameras pictures that showed otherwise.

I had bigfoot in my den two weeks ago..........
No only did he have big feet, (looked like a whole cow hide for his shoes), but he said that when he was measured for his HS graduation ring, they had to use a special set of measuring devices to determine that he wore a size 15 1/2.
Not only that, but he was playing a nice Martin guitar.
But....... I didn't get a picture, so you will have to take my word for it. :-)
Have a blessed day,
Leon

Game cameras recently caught a family of wolverines in Mt Rainier National Park in Washington. Haven't been seen there in over a century.

During Christmas a mountain lion was killed on the northeast outskirts of Dallas. Nobody knew they were anywhere around.
But if there are actually Bigfoots I believe they are only in the most remote places in North America where people and trail cameras almost never venture.

Bigfoot, UFOs, ghosts and such are they real? I ain't got a clue. But I like to think its possible.
About 20 or so years ago I was on a camping trip. Kicked back in a comfortable camp chair and just lazily watching the night sky. I saw what I assumed was a satellite passing over when it suddenly made a 90 degree turn and disappeared at a high rate of speed. No aircraft I know of could make a turn like that or is that fast. UFO? Beats me? But its stuck with me all these years because I can't explain what I saw.
I do know one thing. No TV host with a camera crew roaming around in the woods or some old house is ever going to prove anything other than how gullible people are.

I briefly dated a lady a few years ago that absolutely believed in ghosts, the supernatural and such. Her TV just stayed on the Travel Channel where they show all of these ghost, Bigfoot and UFO shows. We didn't work out.
Which brings the question: why is all this stuff on the Travel Channel in the first place? They never show anything about traveling.

Project Blue Book was out to make ufo's not real. That's all there was about that project. Go investigate, do counter intelligence if people talked to the press, and don't admit one iota that ufo's exist.
Finally, the Government is allowing military personnel who have had encounters to come forward without repercussions.

LOL I'm not sure you want to catch a bigfoot.
If you do, you better have a much bigger trap than they can devise on Mountain Monsters.

OK. I know I'm going to open myself up to ridicule, but last year while golfing up north in Michigan, I sliced one into the woods. When I went in to look, I saw a Big Foot pick up my new Callaway #1 and run off. By the time I got out of the woods, I saw his partner snatch my new driver out of the cart, flip me the paw and before he ran off he took a big swig of my beer. Better be careful, they work in pairs.

The travel channel is about anything but traveling.
I watched about 3 minutes one night last week. the guy on camera was explaining that bigfoots are probably all around us......in a parallel dimension. And can come and go between dimensions at will. This explains why their footprints just stop when people are trying to track them.

In other words: If you catch one, you might have trouble turning it loose.
Have a blessed day,

As a retired wildlife biologist who grew up in Cali and worked in the Cascades for over 20 years, here is my opinion:
1. I have seen some compelling evidence, including casts.
2. Why do these idiots think an amateur, albeit a well-read one, is going to catch something the pros cannot? I've trapped things from shrews to large black bears and hunted things from pack rats to elk. Never seen one!
In short: Keep an open mind! There is a RATIONAL explanation that somebody, somewhere, sometime will stumble upon!
