Somehow my mind would have never melded that song and a symphony into one cohesive thought.
Absolutely wonderful and quite a bit cool all in one package.
44specialfan, her ear rings were very fitting. Not too sure about the hapless mannequin hanging from the rafters!

cajun,
Look up the video of the same orchestra playing the theme for "For a Few Dollars More". I have a B.A. in music, and that background tells me that that piece is actually more challenging to perform than the one for "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".
Interesting, brilliant stuff that Italian fellow came up with for those films.

Andy

That is very impressive! But, not quite as impressive as Peter Griffin singing with the Proclaimers....

I have watched that video dozens of times.
The music is extraordinary and the soloists are mesmerizing.
I am a trumpet player and am still fully taken aback by that performance. It is timeless.
My grandchildren watched this performance, at my request, to further their knowledge on the full orchestration and instrumentation.
I have the original LP from the movie that I have probably watched, in it's entirety, dozens of times since I first watched it at the theater when it came out.
That movie and the soundtrack is most assuredly in the top five of my all time favorites.
And, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly characters were just awesome.

.. limited budget. It was ingenious the way he added 'noises' to fill in the lack of instrumentation.
The chorus is having a BLAST!
When the oboe and piano start..........OH MAN MY SKIN CRAWLS!

Most amazing to me are the minds that can imagine such music and put it together before it ever existed. I suppose those people have a gift that I got none of when those talents were being handed out.

Awesome music. Even more so when you can see it performed like this. I always thought it was put together and overlaid somehow in a music studio. I don't think they didn't had the digital capabilities in 1966.

I've watched that one and several others by the Danish Symphony Orchestra many times. I can't carry a tune in a bucket and have no skills at all with music but am blown away by their performances.

When I was young, Clint Eastwood was the star of the movie. As I grew older..and watched it a few more times..to me, Eli Wallach is the true star. Funny how that happens..

I had heard the ukulele version some years ago and found it quite amusing. Those Brits can be very funny without even trying.
Thanks for posting it again, Kenny.

After watching a few other vids I can see where she is quite the vocalist. She can whistle too! I have to admit, I always thought it was a man who whistled those parts in the spaghetti westerns!

Same here! It's been one of my favorite pieces of music since I was about ten. That's when I saw the movie, and my dad had the soundtrack. I like Ennio Morricone, but the Danish orchestra's rendition can't be beat.

A couple of things -
1. That Oboe player has a set of lungs on him to play a solo that long.
2. A lot of people never realized what a good movie it is because it is a "Spaghetti Western". It is rated by IMDB as #13 in the top 100 best movies ever made, which means it beat out all the Star War movies,Saving Private Ryan,The Green Mile, Silence of the Lambs and It's a Wonderful Life, just to name a few. And, with no digital special effects.
Quite an accomplishment.

I've written the book and lyrics to three musicals. The current project is the first one to have a professional orchestrator, and it has been a fascinating process to watch. It's only about twelve instruments, but he not only gets so much out of them, yet in every way, it's still the composer's music. I am in awe of both of them and it's quite humbling to watch how much work and talent they have poured into words I wrote. I had the easy job.
I can't even play a kazoo!
