Sent important documents from Georgia to Ohio. They are at the Miami international airport awaiting transport overseas. Thank goodness for tracking at least. How does this happen? I understand delays with the pandemic but this seems almost malicious. I should have and will in the future us UPS. Opened up an inquiry days ago and still no reply or update. I have learned my lesson.

Sent something to England about three weeks back. It got to Chicago and sat there for a week. Eventually got where it was going, but almost half the transit time was parked in Chicago. I keep picturing that warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark when I think of the Chicago USPS hub.

The really sad part of this story is they are doing the best they can.

The failures of the USPS are real. But folks... the tracking results are not real. Why do so many continue to read the nonsense and believe it?
If it says DELIVERED, believe that. Anything else it tells you is a fabrication.

"If it says DELIVERED, believe that."
Nope..can't even believe that. I had a Priority that said "delivered" last Friday. (at 12:00A.M.) It did not get delivered till Monday at 2:38P.M.
Of course the buyer who sent the funds wanted to know why it said "delivered" and I wasn't shipping on Saturday..and all I could tell him was call USPS.

Last time I shipped a book from Boise to Alabama it took about 2 weeks,
and that was Priority. But I forgave USPS because the weather had been
kinda bad.
I ordered a holster on 2/16. It was shipped 2/17. Tennessee to Boise.
Today is 3/3 and it's still not here. Fedex is just as bad as USPS.
Brings to mind a little story I told on another thread. I was on a
Scare West flight one time. A gentleman asked the cabin attendant
how long it took the flight to get from Boise to Salt
Lake City. Attendant said I don't know. We've never made it.

Keep in mind that FedEx these days is almost like dealing with two different companies. FedEx Ground is chump and as each day passes, FedEx Ground is soiling the name of a great company.
FedEx 1-2 Day is still a service that is accurate and reliable.

Nobody will do that, because no one can make money at it.
No one, not FedEx, UPS, or even Amazon delivers to every address in the country six days a week.
If someone took it over, the only way to make it viable would be to stop home delivery and require customers to come to the Post Office every day to pick up or drop off mail and packages.

Who said anything about making money? The USPS can’t do it
Losing money . They’ve never made money but once they could actually do the job . Now they can’t.

Missing Check - mailed in October
Received a letter and form about an UNCASHED check that was mailed to me in October.
Signed and returned the form about not receiving the check.
A new check will be issued.
Did not miss the money because I did not know it was coming.

I have a FedEx package that’s been sitting in Memphis since 2/17. It’ll get delivered some time down the road, FedEX just isn’t sure when. OTOH, in the the last few weeks I’ve been getting reliable two day delivery with USPS Priority for the last few weeks. Before Christmas it was really slow.

I mailed my truck license in Oct. Never got to Sacramento. I complained but never had an answer. So I called my Assembly man's office, they took it from there. Sent the check off today to DMV with no penalty. Hope it gets there. [65 miles]. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I renewed the registration on my wife's car today. I did it on line using a credit card. Fewer and fewer people are using the mail, which is why 80% of my mail is advertising.

Have a couple vintage watches coming that I bought off Ebay last week. Both are showing to be at the Irving, TX USPS hub. One got there on 2/25 and the other on 2/27. Maybe some time next week to finish getting it here just outside Houston.

It's easy to criticize the USPS.
Nothing wrong with expressing discontent.
But it might help if more people took the time
to learn why the postal service is in such
bad shape right now.
Some of the causes are rooted in decisions
20 years ago and some are from present
day decisions.

Below is the actual tracking history copied from the USPS Package Tracking Website. The package was to go to Denver and was eventually returned because "Address was Incorrect". The correct address WAS on the box. After I got it back, I reshipped it, changing nothing, and it arrived in 3 days!

I’ve typically had good luck shipping and receiving with priority mail. Not so much this week.
Mrs. Chad bought an antique broach online. It was sent USPS priority mail from Maryland on Feb 25th and arrived at our home in Michigan on Mar 1st. Four days transit is pretty darn good, considering that included a weekend.
Unfortunately, this is what the box looked like:
... and this is what the metal lined jewelry box inside looked like:
That’s one tough metal jewelry box, as I can’t bend it with my hands! The package appears to have been crushed on a conveyor line, or run over with a vehicle. No wonder they dropped the box off at our mailbox!
Needless to say, the broach was damaged and the curved glass front was broken. I was able to partially repair the broach and the Mrs. is going to attempt to replace the glass.

The Postmaster General said he can't be replaced. Said the USPS must make money so service will get slower. Great idea, cut service and expect to make money.

I just bought a gun through Gunbrlker, and the USPS took 14 days to deliver my mo & c&r to the store in PA. Like to thank Tanners Sports for being so patient, I believe they have experienced this previously.

I live in Broken Arrow, just outside Tulsa. On December 15, I mailed our annual Christmas box to the kids in Albuquerque. They received it on January 15, exactly one month to the day. When I would check tracking, it would only say “in transit”. After it finally got delivered, I checked again and saw that it had taken a detour to Portland, Oregon. Last time I checked, Albquerque was straight west of Tulsa. Ben Franklin would be ashamed.

1. Severe weather
2. A global pandemic
3. Upsurge in online purchases
4. Shortage of critical workers (see #2)
Everyone has an anecdote of poor service. As with the horror stories of S&W problems, we never hear about the millions of letters and packages that are delivered daily with no problems, nor the hundreds of thousands of S&W products that function as designed.

A positive experience with USPS customer service...
An eBay sale. Mailed Feb 23. scanned at local PO
Then nothing, March 3rd in the PM, filed a missing pkg report.
March 4th AM, pkg located in the proper state.
March 4th PM, pkg in correct town. Received a live person phone call to inform me
March 5th AM Delivered.

I have stopped using USPS for anything valuable or sending /receiving money. I use only Fed EX. They just don’t screw up. It’s also not that expensive unless you want something shipped overnight.

I don’t understand why anyone sends or receives money by common carrier. Banks and brokerages certainly discourage the practice. Since the advent of 2020, if we cain’t do it without paper, we cain’t do it . . .

My wife just received a 1099 that was mailed on Feb 6th from New Jersey and it arrived yesterday. Almost a month from NJ to NC. She had called them since they said it was mailed and they emailed her a copy so we could get out taxes out then it arrived.

When I see the local postal carriers I go out of my way to thank them for all the hard work they do. I know some of them deliver on more than one route, and work lots of long hours to make it happen. I also see them out on Sundays making package deliveries.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

I had to go to the Post Office this morning and had to wait in line. There was only one Lady working the counter, but two of the people in line did not have their items to ship even in a box. The counter attendant had to help pack the stuff, so the rest of us had to wait. I had my items wrapped, in an envelope, sealed and addressed. Can't figure out why the clowns in front couldn't figure out how to do that all by themselves.
So, it was not the attendant fault, but if their packages don't get there on time, they will probably scream loud and long about the postal service.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

Earlier this week, my mom (here in Cincy) received a letter from a friend in Warrington, England. It took seven days to reach her at a cost of £1.70 ($2.35).
Pretty impressive if you ask me.

If a person has a computer and a printer there is no excuse for them to stand in line at the post office. Post office has free boxes and mailers for Priority mail. Only drawback is you can't print 1st class online. You can do it thru PayPal if you have an account.

Muss I use E -payments of several varieties on almost everything. However, valuable things can't be transferred over cyberspace.
MONEY... I need to send or receive money for via a common courier for purchases related particularly to this forum as many want only USPS M.O. or certified checks as payment. Unless I go without I have no choice.

Ordered some baseball caps 3/3. Chose 'regular' 5-6 day delivery.
USPS shipment notice early AM with tracking number 3/4.
Tracking number promises delivery 3/8 by 9PM.
Pkg arrives 3/5 9:34AM.
