I don't use any illegal drugs but, like others here have said, booze probably does more damage to society than weed. I'm pretty happy in my present job, been there since 07, but I wouldn't ever want to be worried about having to pass a drug test if I decided to move on. I rarely even have a beer or two any more. Did my share when I was younger.

Oklahoma was one of the last states to legalize "liquor by the drink". You used to have to be a member of a club to legally buy a mixed drink, that's how they got around not being able to sell it to the general public and you had to bring your own booze into a club in a brown paper bag and give it to the bartender then he'd make you a drink. It was kind of nice because drinks were a whole lot cheaper, many places had small cover charges then you drank free all night or until your bottle was empty. Now, about everything's legal. A few years back it was legalized for women to go topless in public and a bunch of gals formed a parade and rode electric scooters downtown topless. A friend said to me "20 years ago would you believe it would soon become legal to go topless, smoke a joint, and carry a gun all at the same time in Oklahoma."

One of the questions on the Federal form 4473 is do you use illegal drugs? So, if you use illegal drugs, no purchase or transfer. If you lie, you are a felon. State law does NOT supersede Federal law.

Federal form 4473.
Lot wrong with that form. Explain to me what my race has to do with buying a gun. I find it interesting that a fall down crawl in the gutters drunk is legally able to buy a gun and some guy who smokes a bowl on Friday night isn't. Alcohol is a DRUG, it alters you physically and mentally. Heck so is tobacco, No, you say. Don't smoke for a week and tell me that first smoke don't get you some kind of high. Can't make it for that week? That is what is called addiction. This my drug of choice is better than your is dumb. None of them are good for you in any quantity. Dope smokers will do stupid stuff with guns and drive stoned. Explain to me just how booze is better than pot in this area. The death total from booze mixed with guns or cars makes that a real hard sell.
I find it hilarious that lots of gun rights people quickly point out that question on the 4473 and that it ISN'T because the pot part of it is STUPID. Some guy with a Rx for Fentanal or barbiturates n what have you can buy guns and a guy with a pot Rx can't, that is DUMB

I have never met anybody who had an alcoholic in the family who found it enjoyable, and the same is true for drug users I'm sure.
When I was in the NJARNG there was a "math" teacher in my unit-a legalized draft dodger. He was a slob and and a dope head, as I told the troops if you want to know why you went to school all those years and didn't learn anything you could thank people like him.

My 2¢ worth.
It is with great sadness that I read about, making the open sale of Marijuana, legal!
My sadness is based upon the fact that our youngest Son died, after lying in a a coma for 40+days, and nights, while my eldest Son And I held his hand. His death was the result of an accident caused by an illegal marijuana peddler circa 1973. That peddler skipped the USA, and when he returned, was never held responsible for his actions, that caused our sons' death!
I'm told that Marijuana is actually beneficial in the treatment of pain, as are many other types of natural dope, and give good results. forgive me, for my hatred of it's use.

I am sorry for your loss.
I have lost 2 cousins to drunk drivers.
I lost a son in a car accident.
I know your pain.
People in altered states should not drive.
The fact that it was illegal did not stop your sons death.

I don't care about pot all that much, and I can think of a lot of things about which I would bunch up my bloomers far sooner. That said:
The (legal) weed business in this state has been infiltrated by organized crime (not necessarily LCN, but OC none the less). The regulatory body goes out of its way to do nothing; a friend of mine who works there in LE is constantly frustrated by the lack of support for investigations, such as stuff so fundamental as forensic accountants. From what I have seen in my office, we get NOTHING from that agency. They are allowed to ignore zoning and issue licenses for locations where the facility cannot be, so we end up having to litigate code enforcement cases and anger people who think the state license is sufficient.
Our impaired driving levels are very high (pardon the pun) and the tox lab is so backed up that it takes over a year to get blood test results for a DUI.
I'm not a puritan, but this state is falling apart. The odds are pretty good that soon after retirement I'll have to move.
BTW: use of pot is a DQ under federal law for purchase or ownership of firearms. Posting about doing so is not a prudent course of conduct, putting aside the legal issue. Given the harvesting of social media, which is not limited to Facebook and other ill-advised places, and the fact that there are a lot of people that HATE US ... be darned careful about what you post.

We've all witnessed alcohol generated violence far too many times, whereas the only violence generated by pot smokers usually involves gallon tubs of ice cream and XL bags of chips.
It's time to empty for profit private prisons of minor drug offenders incarcerated at taxpayer cost, let them go home and find jobs, buy legal pot, and drive up demand for Dryers ice cream.

When I was still working , we never had any drug testing. There was a rumor about it so General Foreman decided to have a meeting to talk about it's just a rumor. I'm a jag, so I said I would volunteer for drug testing. Foreman Ed said it don't worry about it. I told them I'd do it, followed with "What kind of drugs do we get to test?" Meeting ended soon after.

Yep, true, but what part of my previous statement has anything to do with buying a gun or even that I would partake if I could and not lose my job? I have no particular want or reason to imbibe in smoking weed or eating edibles, but might consider using a topical hemp oil in the future if knee pains get worse than now. But with the way things stand now, I can't even consider using anything like that due to the possibility of showing up hot on a pee test. I only got about 1 1/2 years of work time left to make until I can draw 100% in Social Security.
