This gun should be left laying around for kids
I was getting fly traps the other day at the Ace. Another customer told me about his techniques and mentioned how legit this was. Well my my, there was one way up on the top shelf, LOL.
Works as-advertised, and will build some arm strength in the process....

Gave one to each of my four kids for Christmas a few years ago. From what each told me, it was the hit of the day. Kids and grandkids alike love using it and anticipate fly season.

I know of a very nice neighborhood tavern (kind of an adult day care facility) with one of those kept handy. Great entertainment!

I keep one in my garage for the occasional winged visitor. Keep it loaded with coarse sea salt.

I liked the first one so much, I bought 2 more! The Yel/Blk is the original, the Gry/Blk is the 'new & improved' version. Twice as powerful as the original, more ergonomically friendly, and no stupid automatic safety that needs to be disengaged after it's cocked. They also make a Laser Sight that you can attach to it. The wife thinks I'm crazy 'clearing' rooms of unwanted insects!
CAUTION: Keep them away from drunken buddies or you risk getting shot in the back of the neck. It smarts!

I gave one to my granddaughter.
Her father (my son) appropriated it.
My granddaughter wants a new one.

I have one and bought one or my dad. Several of my co workers got them also after I told them about it. Works best with course kosher salt. I absolutely love it and it works great!!

What is the effective range of these? I wonder how they would do against carpenter bees? I'm getting tired of playing tennis with my electric racquet against the buggers, although it is really satisfying to hit one, see a small flash and hear a BZZZT.
I'm getting fed up with those pests; I almost feel like pulling the tractors out of the shed and nuking the whole barn.

Depends on the critter. House Flies, Spiders, Stink Bugs, and such,
you're looking at about 3'-4' for confirmed kills. Bigger bugs like Horse Flies, Carpenter Bees, etc., not so much.
If you want to catch/kill those pesky Carpenter Bees, make a trap out of a 4"x4" block of wood and a Mason Jar. Bore a 1/2" hole straight up in the middle, and 1/2" holes on all 4 sides at an upward angle until you hit the center hole. The Carpenter Bees climb in, drop down, and croak.
But, I do enjoy the challenge of swatting those buggers with a real tennis racquet. I love the 'ping' sound they make when you make contact.

Nostalgia
I remember a gun of that type, that we used with much enjoyment, about 40 years ago. They were called 'Fly Bangers'. They weren't as complicated, as the guns shown on this thread. Fly Bangers were like the spring-loaded metal toy guns that shot a sucker stick with a rubber sucker on it's end, that stuck to a smooth surface. Those fly Bangers, had, a larger screen end, instead of a sucker. They'd very effectively squash insects, at a rang of 4 to 6'.

They are just phenomenal, one in the house,
one in the garage.
Gifted a few friends with one when I discovered them.
A must for outdoor dining, always one on the table.
Inside intruders on walls, torn apart, and leaves no mark.

Leaves no marks?? I have killed some big suckers and some do leave blood spots Agree it is a must have for outdoors. In my city we have a lot of fly's from the farms around. This thing has been a game changer.

Anyone know what it feels like to get shot by one? If my brothers and I would have had them someone would have found out in about 30 seconds. Then confiscation would have come next. *s*

My dad and I shot each other with the course kosher salt and it stings pretty damn good. Left a mark and stung for a while. Was about a inch away from the skin hurt like hell, but I'm sure at a farther distant you're fine.
