Trying to buy online (stinks)
I bought 3 Berettas over the past couple few years. All are those import surplus, I believe from a prison system or a police agency somewhere. Italy I believe. The 1st two, a 92S and a model 81, I bought new handles for. They look much better than with the ugly black scratched up ones that came with them. I got a bug up my backside today to buy a set for the Model 1951, so I did a quick search and found a nice pair from a place called Bestpistolgrips. Well, of course they wanted me to get a login ID and password, just like every other darn web site. So I tried to pay for them and part of the check-out process they asked for a dang tip for their shipping dept. employees! That was bolder than these pan handlers at all the main intersections on the streets of Pittsburgh!
I cancelled everything; now I'm ticked off because I really wanted them! I was just stunned. Does this ever happen to anyone else? I'm surprised they didn't say those dreadful words: "Download the free app!"
Disgusted is all I can say. I believe there's a phone number I'll try to call tomorrow.

I think it’s something the Mils started and now Gen-Z is off and running with. I see tip jars next to cash registers nearly everywhere now. But to be solicited for a tip in an online order is new to me. Here’s a tip: pay your shipping dept. a good wage so they don’t have to beg customers to supplement their income.

Tips are earned in my opinion. If someone asks for one..the answer is..stay out of the rain.

Only tip I give is,” don’t play with matches in the gas shed”. Although I leave a larger tip at good places to eat.

Unless I know I'm gonna be a repeat customer, I always check out as a guest, I've never seen a web vendor ask for a tip, but there's a first time for everything. One piece of advice that Grandma Muggins stuck in my head was "Don't stiff people who prepare your food and beverage, especially if you're gonna go back . . . "

Yes! And, just as a public service announcement, NEVER send your food back to the kitchen. Never!

As a follow up, I ordered that set of handles this morning and there was no "tip jar". They cost about half what I paid for the gun but I think they'll make the gun look nicer. I just hope they fit correctly. They're walnut so if there's a little adjustment necessary it should be okay.

A tip jar on a website is going to far.
I also can't stand the guilt trip laden "want to round up" at the checkout aisle for fill in the blank charity. No I don't want to give your corporation money to donate in your own name and interests to get a tax break on my dime.
I've gotten some great looks from cashiers when they ask and I quickly reply nope. I think they're so accustomed to people getting guilt tripped into donating their change my curt reply is a shock.

Sounds like a shake down to me. You did the right thing. If you need to ask for a tip, you do not get one.
